New Orleans Class WIP
« on: July 22, 2013, 08:20:19 PM »
Well I'm going to have a go a making a ship for BC and it's one that needs a bit of love. I have the basic shape down at the moment needs detail and smoothing though I reckon I have a good base to work off. Here's some shots.

The nacelles are place holders.

Ok i'm having quite a bit of trouble of getting the Engineering section to look 'right'. Any ideas of how it could be done?

Looks to be needing more polies. Sub-divide?

I had a go Vortex though it seems there's a few too many issues with it. I may have to rebuild it in attempt number 3.

Ok so attempt number 3, this time I've kept the two hulls separate until I model the neck for them to join. I've also added some detail to the Saucer such as the Bridge module and impulse engines. Any idea how I could do the deflector housing?

Apologies for the triple post but it's an update, deflector housing done, neck just needs connecting to the two hulls. There are also some rouge vertices but I can reign them in.

Thank you gentleman, anyone know the best way to start on a Galaxy style nacelle? I have a rough idea but I just can't seem to get anything that looks right.

Damn that looks good. How did you go about building the neck? I'm having trouble figuring that out for one of my ships.

It was a 5x5x5 box with lots of scaling of different polies until I got the shape right. Basicly I  squished it all until it was the right shape.  :funny

I agree, I think it's coming along nicely.
If you can't get it identical to what's seen on TV I still think your creative talents will produce a fine unique ship. But something tells me you will get it, your skills are improving model after model.
