BC Modded Install Suggestions
« on: July 25, 2013, 06:12:23 PM »
Hello everyone

I have recently reinstalled BC again.. after a series of software problems with my computer. Now that is done I wish to improve my modded install, currently I have two Installs of BC,
My primary install is stock with the latest offical patch and my secondary install which has KM 1.1 Beta (Latest KM Version), Stargate Ship Pack V3 and Shield Pack by Fourchan and additional BCS The Begginnings Download (The version currently in the latest KM Mods (1.0 and 1.1 beta) dosen't seem to have all the functionalty of this version which was present in the Pre 1.0 KM). I personally love DJ Curtis and WileyCoyote's ships and plan to reinstall my favourite ones from both of them. I also am going to install the Solar Syntheis mod again as that also enhances the graphics in the game.

With the things I plan to do above in mind I was wondering if someone could point my in the direction of any other mods that are up to date that will enhance the graphics of the game primarily for QB as I plan to take many HD screenshots.

Mods can be anything

A new realstic HD Like damage texture is high on the list- any ideas

My relevant Computer specs are listed below

6GB of RAM

512MB of dedicated video memory

Intel Core I5 First Generation

Thanks I would appreciate any input you may have

get this: http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/DGs_Nebula_and_Atmosphere_Effects;31109
it has an entry to atmosphere effect that is immensely better than stock, as well as better nebula effects

Just found this mod,

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/MoedKillallewoks_BC_Nebula_Pack;120933

That's my mod, with some material supplied from Killallewoks.

Hope you like it!

I might be releasing a v3 sometime in the future with new backgrounds and some improvements over existing ones.

KM 1.1 Beta comes with DS9FX Xtended which has an improved solar synthesis. Depending on your taste you can either decrease the quality or improve it.

I have just tried your mod and are going to most defiantly keep it in my install as it is fantastic and the resolution of the new backgrounds are incredible and  whilst they may not be true crystal clear CG like HD images they are certainly a high quality eye candy edition to bridge commander and are the best I have seen to date that convey a sense of being in space! :yay: cookie!!

me mods old, me not advertise

 :funny

I also recommend an old piece called DarkGunman's Improvement Pack, it should be at BCFiles, tho I don't remember where it is :P

Basicaly it's old and obsolete by now but there's one particularly beautiful improvement i'd keep in my install. I'm talking about sun effect and sun glare, while it's not as colorful and vivid as in Solar Synthesis or Kobayashi Maru (which is using SS) but it makes suns look much more realistic ;)

Thanks for the recomendations everyone, However because it is an installer how do I upgrade my install selecting the sunflairs and music without downgrading the rest of my BC KM 1.1 Beta with mods.

Also I believe the sun effects are visible in this video by Chris Jones.

Best way is to install it into different directory and then choose the content you need ;) in this case you would be looking for textures related to sun in "Data/Textures" folder IIRC ;)
