Ok, the idea behind this ship is to make a much stronger version of the Defiant, with a bit more space, much higher armor and weapon reserves, but not quite so much top speed. This would be the Marine Corps version of the Defiant, so naturally that means it is even more combat oriented than the standard Starfleet Defiant class design.

What is special about this ship is the fact that it can fire torpedoes while cloaked. It actually decloaks for a nanosecond when it fires, and it's rate of fire is very limited, as well as it's ability to menuver, but the fact it can fire while cloaked at all makes a very unique ship in the Marine Corps inventory...the only other ship capable of this is the massive Infinity class, the Fleet flagship.

This is a very early mesh. But the overall shape is in place. Let me know what you think.

A thought, take it or leave it, but have you thought of making the ramscoops more of a scoop, similar to the JJprise or Vesta?

The front is a little to square for my tastes. Apart from that, she looks great. I really like the nacelles.

This + the Impulse drive. -Maybe I should clarify that i like the new Impulse exhaust.
But (not sure if this is bad), the ship has a sort of "Batman" feel to it.

Edit: small clarification

Yea, I expected that some folks might not care for it's modular look. I wanted to get away from the smooth rounded lines of the Defiant, to give a feeling that this vessel has a much higher amount of armor. It does give it kind of a "batman" sort of look to it.

As to the adding scoops to the front (I'm guessing you mean like the Valiant concept for the Defiant) I could give that a whirl and see how it looks. The buzzards could definitely use more armor protection.

By the way...even though this is classified as a refit (and certain older or damaged Defiant mainframes are certainly upgraded to this model) this is mainly a manufacture model exclusively for the Marine Corps, so it is a manufacture redesign.

Impressive stuff Raven. Do I take it the mesh isn't smoothed yet??

Oh and if you don't mind my asking are there any image of the Infinity class or is it one I've seen before because I'm positive I've heard the name somewhere before.

Yes, I usually do not smooth it until after I have finished the mesh. It's just easier for me that way.

Yes, the Infinity was the flagship of the Starfleet Marine Corps. Here is a quick pick...It has changed quite a bit from it's original version. Sorry about the large pic.

Yes, It has 8 nacelles total, 4 on each side, two sets of two with a unique full size warp core in each nacelle housing. The ship can fly at warp with the armor plates closed or open, but open is much faster and efficient.

The Infinity, for all purposes is essentially a flying battlestation, and can actually deploy as a full fixed battlestation when needed. A few other noteworthy things about the ship....

This vessel is designed to ram other vessels, and uses a soliton shockwave generator, as well as sending the ship into a corkscrew spin to create a "comet" like mode that can crash through and destroy even the largest ships.

The armor is a Molybdenum/Neutronium composite, with retractable pure Neutronium plates. When the armor is fully deployed warp travel is impossible, but the ship is almost completely invulnerable to energy based weaponry. Weaponry is very limited when armor is fully deployed.

The entire hull is essentially one large charged phaser emitter, allowing directed phaser fire from almost any point on the hull.

The vessels transporters are so powerful she is capable of beaming up to 5000 individuals at once.

She carries 58322 Starfleet Marines in full barracks on board.

The ships main core is powered by the only stable omega particle in existence. Everything but impulse and warp travel is powered by this "Omega Core".

The vessel's Neutronium hull and lattice structure interferes with communication and beaming. Beaming has to be done site to site on board, and communication is by wire only.

The only vessel in service that has a complete set of manual controls for almost every system on board.

This ship has a complete holographic projector system on board, allowing any and all holographic projections to be projected at any location on the ship, central to the ships internal defenses.

This vessel has the largest hangar bay of any Starfleet vessel ever constructed. The bay takes up almost a quarter of the ship, and is large enough to fully house an Excelsior class vessel in drydock.

She has a Quantum Slipstream Drive installed, but safe use requires channeling the field through a warp nacelle instead of the deflector, destroying the coils in the nacelle. This means the ship can only "jump" 8 times before it can no longer travel at warp, as all warp nacelles are destroyed.

The ship uses a non standard deck layout...the bridge is deep within the ship. Most critical stations are deep inside the core of the vessel.

The vessel has the equivilent of 250 phaser banks, with type Z output, each capable of generating 10 times the normal output of a Type X emitter in overload status. That basically means that the phaser capability alone is equal to about the total phaser output of approximately 30 Galaxy class starships.

The ship has 34 torpedo launchers (14 fixed and 20 rotary), and carries 3570 photon torpedoes, 1680 quantum torpedoes, and 20 tri-cobalt phase torpedoes. She also has 20 drone launchers with a compliment of 170 offensive drones.

As of the the "Whence come I and whither go I?" story arc, the main computer on board (called "control") is sentient.

The ship has 5 Borg crew members, two head doctors (one holographic), an XO that was created from a transporter accident (Thomas Riker), a Klingon First Officer (Kurn), an android security officer that was once an enemy of the Federation (Lore) and a Captain that is the Commander of the Starfleet Marine Corps...as well as being a Eugenics product and brother to Kahn...General Raven Noonien Singh.

During the "Et tu, Brute?" storyarc it is established by Starfleet Intelligence that the Infinity class has firepower equal to roughly one quarter of Starfleet.

Just a few tidbits....

On a final note, I couldn't make the ship this powerful and put it in the game. It would basically be a god ship. It will be powerful, about in line with other Capital Dreadnoughts.

No doubt. This ship was never designed to actually be put in any game as a playable ship...actually all of the "King" vessels for each race were never intended to be playable vessels, simply anchors for each races story.

Let me sum up the situation that led to the birth of this monster. I'll try to keep this as brief as possible.

The Borg have conquered Earth and scattered Starfleet to the wind. Starfleet HQ was moved to Vulcan. Almost a third of the Federation has been conquered by the Borg.

Raven was discovered alive in a Tykens rift by the USS Enterprise. When he left Earth in pursuit of Khan in 1997, he was the Supreme Commander of WestCom, an alliance formed to fight the Eastern Coalition, the remnants of Khan's Eastern Alliance. The war raged on after Khan abandoned the alliance for 56 years. 10 years after the war finally ended, shortly after first contact, the United Earth Space Probe Agency was formed in it's place. That led to the formation of Starfleet Command and Control, which eventually became Starfleet Command.

The old Western Command charter was clear...any commander not removed by death or administrative action was still considered in command, until such time as death could be proved or pronounced.

But General Singh was never declared dead. Raven was, and remained in command of all military forces under Westcom...which became the UESPA, then Starfleet Command and Control, then Starfleet Command.

Of course when Raven was discovered in 2380 the only military forces still active in Starfleet were in the Third Fleet...the Starfleet Marine Corps, no more than a ceremonial force at this time. 3 old vessels and a handful of men.

Raven was content to live out his days in peace..until the Borg conquered Earth. That one event caused him to decide to delve into Starfleet records and assert his right to command. He indicated, during the hearing on Vulcan, that he was aware of the secret prototypes under construction at Starbase 47, under the Third Fleet's control. If given command, he indicated he could complete all prototypes at the station in less than 6 months.

He was given command, and moved the Starbase to the proximity of a nearby star. Using the Star to power advanced shipbuilding machinery and technology derived and improved upon from Dominion designs, he was able to make all prototypes fully functional (though not complete) in less than 3 months....including the massive Infinity class Dreadnought.

The Starbase was attacked and destroyed by the Borg, but the unfinished fleet of 25 ships destroyed the attacking vessels...4 Tactical Spheres and a Tactical Cube.

And that is how the SMS Infinity was born. Remember, this was simplified for brevity, but you get the gist.

The Infinity was designed for one purpose...to destroy the Borg.
