Hey I didn't see the posted yet so I thought I would post It up
Here the link for the trailer for Star Trek: Infinite Space, a game created by Gameforge.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-galaxy-star-trek/706686
Edit: Hey Jimmy move this to the game section, I kinda forgot we had one till I saw It lol
-
Oh my. It acctually looks promising for a trailer.. I just wonder if the gameplay will be anything like that. :P
-
I heard It supposed to be like OGame meet's Star Trek, but I guess we will find out.
-
well that was neat to watch - it's got my attention...
this is the first i have ever heard of this... except im not much a fan of MMO games... ah well lol
-
Free to play browser game? Meh, no way is that ingame footage. I doubt it'll look as good as Armada 1.
BUT since it'll be F2P, at least we'll be able to test it out.
-
Its free so I'll definitly try it.
-
This looks good. Where did it state that this was F2P?
-
Well It Is a browser game so one would assume that It's free to play.
-
lol OGame had similiar trailer but it's just text game with some still pics / renders :P still if it's gonna be at least similiar to BOTF I will most definitely like it :D
-
I would have wished they would have made a sequel to BOTF, but I guess the Sacrifice of Angels 2 mod for Sins of a Solar Empire will have to fill that void lol
-
This looks good. Where did it state that this was F2P?
At the end of the video.
-
Up first the Galaxy and BoP. You will need the Unity Player to view them.
http://startrek-is.com/game-facts/
-
People must be pounding the site because it is taking forever to load
-
loaded fine here.
-
I gotta admit I was expecting them to look a bit worse, so for a browser-based game those aren't bad.
-
If these actually look that good in gameplay, I will be amazed.
-
jb76 edit - added youtube tags...
-
already have a thread about this ;)
EDIT: ok merged all three threads about this LOL lets try and keep them together K?
-
Their site hates me, I've tried clearing my cache and cookies, but the site takes forever to load, and the models don't even start loading. Happens on my laptop and my dad's computer as well.
Heck even trying to load the models through trekmovie.com isn't working. I have the unity webplayer downloaded and installed, it works fine i can playing BGS online.
-
Your ISP must have some grudge against the Unity player or something.
-
No, it isn't unity, since the main site won't load either.
-
Well, they are.....
Better than STO, BC, and equal to Legacy, so it looks to be about PS2/Gamecube quality.
-
Legacy was on Xbox 360.
However, I agree, it's probably about Wii level visuals. The polycount is low, but the post effects, like bump mapping and bloom, are nice.
-
i am talking stock model quality on pc, but i compared it to previous gen game systems.
-
Here's one piece of the soundtrack. I can get used to it.
http://trekmovie.com/2011/02/24/star-trek-gaming-update-infinite-space-music-clip-latest-sto-news/
-
The graphics aren't anything spectacular, but they have a nice, clean look to them. I think it actually looks better than Fleet Operations, the revamp of ST: Armada II.
So the trailer shows some footage of the Cardassians and the narrator says old enemies become allies, yet the general game info says Federation and Klingons are the playable factions. I'm hoping that there's a chance races like the Cardassians will be a playable race in later patches.
The sample soundtrack sounds great, but I'm interested to see what the bar has to offer for player gathering in terms of trade and communication as well as achievements, advancement, credits, and inventory.
-
DC: I believe that would be the point...why would they only make it Klingons and Federations that are playable?
-
Off Camera Gameplay footage (no sound)
-
2d space combat? for real? :eek  they've shot themselves straight on the head.. :hithead:
-
meh... it can be overrated :P
SFC was epic so...
-
Doesn't bother me actually it makes me want to play it more.
-
2d space combat? for real? :eek  they've shot themselves straight on the head.. :hithead:
It's not all bad. A lot of games can pull it off reasonably well...
-
Plus it is free.
-
It's arcadey as hell, but it looks nice, and reeks of being made by sincere trekkers.
I just wish they'd been a tad more ambitious. A missed opportunity. I'll check it out, but I won't be sinking any ???'s into it. My long wait for the perfect Star Trek MMO continues. Everyone pray that Bioware suddenly announce that they are working on one.
-
Bioware is too busy with Dragon Age/Mass Effect/Star Wars

I thought DA:2 was already out.
-
I thought DA:2 was already out.
Ok, scratch DA off the list, still have ME3 and TOR
-
Well i'd keep DA on the list, because Bioware like to make Half a Million DLC for there games, same for ME:2(which got released on to PS3 not so long ago... or hasn't been released yet I dunno.)
-
Yeah, I've been playing it on PS3 for the last week or so.
I know they're busy, but we may live in hope. Aren't they working on a Mass Effect MMO, too?

Heres a short Q&A with the Okuda's and some new pics with more ships.
Q: How did you get involved with the Star Trek Game?
A: We were lucky enough to be approached by CBS and Gameforge. Our first meeting with the Gameforge team was when they came to Los Angeles about a year ago . Frankly, we just wanted to hear about their game concept because it sounded cool . Imagine our surprise when Michael Hengst, the producer, turned to us and asked if we could fly to Germany in a couple of weeks to meet with his team!
Q: What is your role during the development of the game?
A: We are consultants to Gameforge and Keen Games on Star Trek content. That means that we review designs and story elements to help them stay consistent with the world of Star Trek . For things that have been established in episodes and movies , we try to help them make it match what you?ve already seen. But, of course, part of the fun of this game is to dig a little deeper and reach a little further than we did in the actual episodes. Where new material ? like new ships ? is being created, we try to help them make it both fresh and familiar.
Q: You have been to Europe last year, to see the developer of browser game and to work on the preliminary design. What was your impression of Keen and what did you like about Europe?
A: We had a great time in Europe! Sarah Steffen and her colleagues at Keen really impressed us with their attention to detail, and their concern for authenticity. Also, they have some very, very fine designers. They were trying to get the nuances right, and they bombarded us with questions like, ?would a Klingon do this?? or ?could you upgrade a Defiant-class ship to do that?? or even ?does this feel like Star Trek ?? It was a whirlwind visit, but it was good to meet the team face to- face. We continue to collaborate with them over the Internet.
Q: Transferring a vastly complex universe like Star Trek to a game is a challenge by its own.
A: What would be the most important thing to keep the feeling? of Star Trek? That?s a tough question. Star Trek is the sum of many, many elements , from story and character, to the thrill of discovery , to the power of science and technology to improve our lives. To us, the visuals of the ship and character designs are very important. But even more important are the core values of Star Trek : The adventure o f exploration, delight in the diversity of life-forms in the galaxy, and the ethical strength of the characters who are always willing and able to defend themselves very effectively, even though they never go out looking for a fight.
Q: Working on a game is somewhat different, than working on a TV show. What was for you the main difference?
A: Each version of Star Trek is a little different from what came before , and movies are quite a bit different from television . So the jump to interactive gaming was, in one sense, just another version of Gene Roddenberry?s universe. It?s fun for us because is a very different medium, so we?re learning a whole new set of rules for storytelling and production. Fortunately, our friends at Gameforge and Keen have been holding our hands in that regard , and we?ve been learning a lot. For us, one of the interesting differences is that in television, there are a lot of things that are seen only in the background, so you don?t put a lot of time or effort into them. For example, in a big battle scene, a lot of the background ships might be very crude models. But in an interactive game, you often can?t control what things are seen closely, so the Keen design team sometimes has to put in a lot of extra work on things that we might ignore in television. Gameforge has sent us some new screenshots for their upcoming free-to-play browser game Star Trek: Infinite Space, set during Star Trek: Deep Space Nine?s Dominion War.

Did you guys look at the galaxy-class model? It was missing some phaser strips. Four of them, actually. :nono:
-
it appears to be missing them doesn't mean they forgot about them completely. *sighs* Everyone is looking for excuses to not play htis game it seems :(
-

That seems kind of nit-pickish don't you think? The game is BROWSER-based, and when taking that into consideration it doesn't really look that bad...
-
Sorry, I'm a bit tired and I'm a little standoffish also. I wasn't trying to sound as if I was wanting to start something. To each their own, but they aren't completely finished with the game yet. I'm sure if we the fans point that out to them then they will change it :)
-
There is a new game called Star Trek - Infinite Space is a web browser based game made by Gameforge it has a trailer in the site that is http://startrek-is.com/ (http://startrek-is.com/) but it will be only released in mid year i think, well it only says that is going to be released at 2011 hope it will be soon enough.

-

FYI, Posting a topic using "ALL CAPS" does in no way make you look cool.

Moved and merged.

Was only to call the attention of the people as i didn't knew that there wasn't a discussion part for games. ;)
-
Anyways they have the 3d veiwers for the Defiant, Jem'Hadar Destroyer and the Big-D.
http://startrek-is.com/media/
-
looks like I'm going to have to play this game on Firefox...
-
The Defiant actually doesn't look half bad...
-
I'm gonna try this game out! Looks great if you ask me!
The romulan warbird and defiant looks a bit off, but the rest looks good if you ask me!
-
is it just me or aft section of the Defiant is way too short ? other than that looks cool
-
It does seem a little short but not by much.
Also, they've added quite a few new ships to view.
Klingon K'tinga
Danube
Vulcan Transport(Vahklas from ENT)
Norway
Steamrunner
Cardassian Hideki
Nausican Raider(from ENT)
Klingon Raptor(from ENT)
-
Any new news about this? I reallllllly wanna play this game actually.
-
Nothing other than they've added the Bajoran Intercepter, Flaxian ship, Klingon Rewbe'yoh(looks very much like the D-4 http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/screenshots/File/100137/10) and the Intrepid.
-
I still can't view the damn website. Every since it launched it would never load for me. Must be my ISP. I have not tried it on any other internet yet.
-
you need the latest flash and the unity web player.
-
Open registration for the Beta. Sign up, I already have. I plan to RP to some extent, so I named my character Gregory Woods.
English: http://en.startrek-is.com/ (http://en.startrek-is.com/)
German: http://de.startrek-is.com/ (http://de.startrek-is.com/)
-
I'll give it a shot, good old Geoffrey Wulfricson will do.
-
Done! I wonder when we can play it.
-
this is neat
-
I'll be playing my character Dennis James Smith :D. (Preferred DJ [and mainly because I am a DJ on the side LOL])
This is going to be awesome I just hope my computer(s) can handle it!
-
Hey, this looks pretty good!
-
The galor class is stupidly small. Looks good for the rest.
-
you need the latest flash and the unity web player.
I had both of those, the site would never load.
Now it does load though, probably because of the redesign.
-
They've added the Keldon, D'Kora, Nebula, Trill trasnport and Vulcan T'Pau transport.
-
A recent IS interview from Nana Visitor (Kira) and Rene Auberjonois (Odo)
-
Small update guys,
the game is put on hold in beta mode. There is no money left etc (probably all put in those damn idiotic klingon movies)
Too bad, was looking forward to it! :'
-
they probably spent all their money getting Kira and Odo to endorse the game :P
-
Probably, if you check their facebook page, it's almost hysteria. Lots of fans are angry. :D
-

They're gonna get a lot of backlash and THEN they'll probably fix their errors LOL
This was sad news as I read it on Hailing Frequencies.
-
Not good. Hopefully someone will step in and help them.

Sadly not. Star Trek Infinite Space has been officially cancelled. :(
-
That sucks.
I was looking forward to checking this out.
-
Oh, well atleast there is still Excal and the Co-op next year.
