For about two months or so this has been happening but now its gone too far. So, i'll be browsing the web or doing something on my computer and all of a sudden literally like five different things start happening at the same time all mouse related. It'll randomly scroll up and down and select some random things and move this window here and that window there and open up the recycle bin and some other things that I can't catch since it happens so fast. I can see the mouse flying all over my screen just going ever which way. Ofcourse im just a pasenger at this point I can't do Jack Shizzel. This keeps going for about 30 secs then it just stops and then I have to close out everything that I didn't happen before and whatnot. If im playing a game like BC it will open up random menus and click on different things. If im playing Fleet Ops it will zoom in and move the view all over the map so im s.o.l. if im attacked at the right time.
And now i've lost the function of my cut/copy/paste buttons on my keyboard and my mouse wheel(rolling it) will no longer scroll up and down pages. I have to click the mouse wheel and drag the mouse to scroll that way but its too sensetive to use all the time like I need to. It doesn't happen every day but about once a week or so. Im doing weekly scans with everything that I have, doing monthly defrags, using ccleaner once a month and checking for driver updates for everything as usual but nothing has stopped it. Its a Logitech LX3 Optical mouse that I have and im on Vista Home Premium 32bit.

Strange situation there, i had a similar problem and it has been solved by this way.
Disconnect the mouse from the PC while it is still on.
Then restart the PC and after everything has started, don't do nothing just connect the mouse and let the PC configurate it.
Sometimes its a loose cable problem that gets solved by this simple procedure.

Fixed the not scrolling with the mouse wheel. I didn't update the setpoint program.
And its not a loose wire I made sure of that.

did someone plug one of these into your computer?

Have you already tried the google?

And my mouse wheel is dead again!
-
It used to be a scroll mouse.. but then it took an arrow into the wheel!
*runs*

have you tried a new mouse?
-
And I will also advise a virus scan....

My next weekly scan is with avast at 1AM Monday(a few hours from now) and then with ad-aware at 1AM Tuesday. Last weeks didn't get anything or any of the weeks before when this was happening. I have both avast! and Ad-Aware(full free versions) and at current update too. Also, forgot to mention before that it went crazy on me last night in TF2. I will run ad-aware after I get up in the morning.

It just happened again and the only way to stop it was to log off. And no matter what I type into google I am finding very little that is useful. I might just go and buy one tomorrow.

if its an optical mouse, cleans the sensor out, theyre might be particles of dust in there causing it to miscalculate and go schizo, ive had this problem with the macs in college and it seames to fix it, clean it with something that doesnt fibre to be safe.
-
Yeah i'll try that and see if that fixes it.

Update:
1) A few nights ago for the first time in a while I lost control of my mouse.
2) The next day I was doing some work and my mouse completely stopped responding at all. No right click no nothing.
3) Mouse wheel works again! I think it might have been a tad loose afterall lol.

Its still happening. Its been happening. Im getting a new mouse.
-
That is probably the best you can do.
I had something similar once with my old mouse. By far not that severe but also random clicking, or not responding at all for a while :hithead:.
My best guess is that this has something to do with the cord, because it only happened to me after i had a serious knot in it.
-
Finally got a new mouse. The old one was definitly dieing on me since the tracking laser kept turning on and off at will. This one will take a while to get used to but its much better than the old one I had.

had the same problem, took that damn thing apart only to find out one of the circuits in cable was shattered to pieces (mainly due to twisting and rolling the cable every time I put it into my bag), had to get new mouse :P
