I found this interesting video on YouTube today. :eek
The fans are taking matters into their own hands! :evil:
I knew there were some rumors of Relic Entertainment teasing about a forth installment to the Homeworld franchise back in 2008; that came to nothing. Since then the partial rights of the series has changed hands more than once. Now the last rights holder THQ had gone belly up, which brings me to this video below...

As of now, it looks like the Developer was able to raise $13,000 USD of his $50,000 target goal.

I think this is welcome news, being Homeworld was the first PC game I ever brought, lol. The series was and still is EPIC! Considering this developer has converted the old series into a touch screen format? The possibilities are endless, and worth keeping an eye on. :thumbsup:

You do realize that the Homeworld rights were sold before THQ went bust right, in the bidding war?
This fan movement failed over a month ago when the bidder "Gearbox" went way over their raised money.
Please pay attention to the dates! :P
We can only hope Gearbox has something for us in the near future.

When I first heard the news I was very sad for quite a whilst. An FPS developer who has questionable development strategies wants to make an RTS. If they can't run there business properly then I expect to be able to destroy a Battlecruiser with a scout.

ACM was botched before Gearbox got their hands on it... it went through to many developers just like Duke Nukem Forever.
Borderlands is the game ya got to remember Gearbox made.

Yeah, so I heard it was all those 3rd party dev teams that are to blame for uneven quality but it was still released as Gearbox's game so the stain lands on their name ;)
Also, it's a kind of heavy burden for them to continue this franchise, it won't be easy to live up to the expectations, afterall Homeworld 2 is still considered to be one of the best space strategy game... if not the best
Previous returns to successful titles proved to be mostly failures (AVP, ACM, Duke Nukem, wanna-be-BC aka. ST Legacy, etc) let's say I'll restrain myself from all the ohhhs and ahhhs until it's development is officialy announced ;) but I do hope H3 to be true in near future

I've heard that Gearbox might be planning to re-release all the homeworld games for digital download... we might see Homeworld on steam. xD
That actually might be great.

I wonder if it's gonna be remastered like Age of Empires 2 (upgraded engine, new music, better sprites, etc) got it and it's just as fun as it was back in 99'

Guess I should bring up that Gearbox next year is re-releasing the original two games with updated graphics. No idea if the actual ship models have had polys added but for sure the textures are at a much higher res. Ofocurse the storys and all that will still be the same.
