Ancient Egypt was always my favorite era of human history. Not only that they had the longest surviving governmental hierarchy, but also had the greatest warrior (Tutmoses 3rd, never lost a single battle of the 17 campaigns he led), a mythology that was ripped off numerous times, the first monotheistic religion, etc.
So, since it's obvious I like ancient Egypt, and also the movie era of Trek, I blended the two into a line of ship designs, set between the Ent-B and Ent-C.
The forerunner of these ships is the Connie-like Luxor class heavy cruiser:
...followed by the logical Saladin-like Malkata class destroyer and her Mk2 variant with mega phasers:
...and an Eagle-like one, this is the Mk2, with the mega phasers:
...and the Akula-like Tutankhamun (Mk2 has top mega Phasers, Mk3 has bottom ones too):
...and an Interstellar Machine special, the Medinet Habu:
...and the Sneferu class DN (Sneferu was the pharaoh who pioneered of pyramid building):

There will be more bashes to come.

The plating surrounding the bridge even looks like a pharoah's golden headdress - like Tut's; good job.

Ah! The curse of the third-nacelle strikes again but aside from that, those ships look amazing. Excellent job.
My favourite so far is the first one (Luxor Class). Why couldnt they have built something that awesome to be the Enterprise-A in ST:4, ST:5 and ST:6?
-
Ah! The curse of the third-nacelle strikes again but aside from that, those ships look amazing. Excellent job.
Yeah, but there's a catch to it. Remember that on the Connie only the inside part of the plasma grid is lit up?
It's the same on the Luxor, and all of the 1 nacelle variants, the Tutankhamun, and the 3 nacelle one's center nacelle has them lit on both sides, depicting dual warp coils, so Gene's paired warp coils rule is kept.
-
The models look pretty much done to me. Have you moved onto HP and scripting work yet?
Just curious.
-
Oh how I like the Luxor class.
I really can't wait for this.
Along with DJ's ships this'll make one of the best mods of the year.
-
This looks great man! 8) There was always a lack of lost era (timeline between Ent B and C) ships at BC. Again great work, looking forward to this :)
-
I wonder how they would look in TOS styles.
or even in pre-TNG designs.
those speculars on the saucer look preety smooth. just as a real plating should be
-are those 3ds renders? I saw a projected shadow there, (BC doesn't cast shadows)
-
-are those 3ds renders? I saw a projected shadow there, (BC doesn't cast shadows)
Yes, they're all rendered in 3dsmax.
-
These are really great Adonis. I love the textures, particularly the windows. They've got a great 3d look to them. Personally, the Tutankhamun is my favorite. I like how you've built up the saucer areas below the nacelle pylons. Top notch buddy.
-
may i mary you :D . wow this is so cool , and I too always loved egypt , so you can expect me to download these immeaditly (SP) after release.
-
Very nice indeed! Those pharoah style headress patterns remind me of the blue ones that appeared on the excelsior class, lovely render too, is 3dmax free at all? I'd like to render some models and ships for wallpaper purposes at some point and perhaps eventualy use it for modding purposes too.
-
Beautiful ships. I really like how you combined styles, they look quite canon.
Great job.

You have definately done your homework, Impressive I also liked the ancient egyptians too, however I was always more partial to the Romans.

Fantastic Adonis u finally did what u never told u would do! hehehehe

Fantastic Adonis u finally did what u never told u would do! hehehehe
But I did it from my parts ;)
-
i'm not sure i can quite see the point to the Medinet Habu variant... but i eagerly await the Miranda version
though my mind now wonders off by itself to imagine trek ship designs that would be around if the monotheistic Egyptian religion nicked Christianity's place in the grand scheme of things. Barring any 'gate influence, I'm getting a generally Romulan feel.
-
Awesome designs for those ships. Egypt is always a cool place to do research on.
monotheistic Egyptian
Ah yes, Akhenatan and Nefertiti worshipping the aten.
Would ship variants using the names of tut and his wife use their original names?

No, I wanted to use the Amun suffix ones. After all they didn't use the Aten suffix names for long.

I am so looking forward to putting these ships into my BC install.

So true, these ships are looking awesome! Definately will be alot of fun having them in my install when they are done.
-
Now I just have to think out and create that idea of yours....
-
@ Adonis, these are magnificent beauties here. The Aztec patterns are perfection. I love the Luxor variants! As a amature student of Egyptian history and lore, I like the registries you have made on the ships so far. But, don't forget the Pharaoh Ramses the Great! Or Akhenatan, the heretical Sun King? And show Egypt's first female Pharaoh "Hapsetshut" some love, lol. The Male Pharaohs struck her likeness and name from nearly every monument and statuary they could find. Give her the immortality she's due. Keep up the good work! -BR32
-
Thats looking perfect! :D
Is it me or are those impulse engines the same as the one's on the Constellation class? :)

No, on the Constellation you have two Connie impulse sets rotated 90 degs.

Well, I'm not done with bashes and variants, so there's plenty of room.
Akhenaten, Hatshepsuth, Ramesses II, Tutmoses III, they're all gonna get their due ;)
-
looking good, looking damn good. :)
-
Looks awesome.
I'll port the ones you sent me ASAP so we can have some ingame shots. 8)

That's good to hear, Dude! I'm currently posting this as a news item on BCF. I'll be more than happy to spread the word around about these astonishing new works. -BR32

Maiden Voyage:
P.S.: scuse my crappy graph card.
-
holy crap! that looks fine man! :) 8) can't wait to see the other ships
-
@Adonis: Sweet Pics!! I'll add them to the BCF news item. Nice to see my old Earth texture is still a Favorite. Btw, I've got to give you a better Fed Starbase than that:P-BR32

Seems like you're lacking the enhanced glows at the shots.

I don't use it, it's rubbish IMHO.

superb stuff Adonis, I really can't wait to download this baby!! 8)
-
Looking good.
-
Awsome ships, can we have some more pic's of the Luxor Tutankhamun Class, and the Luxor MedinetHabu Class please I love to see how they look at other angles.
-
OMG! this is amazing!
-
Looks very cool, nice design.
-
OMFG. These ships are VERY nice. Can't wait for them to be released.
Anything on the specs?
-
What modeling program is that?...and those look awsome, bet they look very good in BC.
Im trying to make the merge from Max to AC3D,Blender,MOI and/or Zbrush3(can box model with Zbrush),only because my Max 8 was borrowed from a friend,he was letting me try it,I cant buy that atm..too much money.

I use 3DSMax7.
-
I thought only 3DSMax 3 supported BC nifs.
-
NifSkope can now export models to .Nif(but its the wrong version, newer than BC), supposidly there is a converter to convert new .Nifs to the old ones Bridge Commander uses, but people dont seem to be able to post a link where we can get this converter or put it up as a download because there is also a .Nif plug-in for Max 7,8,9 but it wont export the right .Nif version for BC,hence the converter..
Anyway, back on topic, Keep up the good work, will always love your modeling skillz

Max3 was the last to support Nif3 (the one BC uses), the plugins for newer versions are for Freedom Force, Morrowind, Oblivion, etc.
Nifskope just started implementation of the Nif3 version, we're really gonna just have to wait on how that eventually develops and if a Max/Blender/Maya exporter will result it.
As for my work, I always try to give my best, the Luxor is and always will be special for me, since she's the design that pays homage to Ancient Egypt, and is so far the most detailed model I ever did (the spotlights for instance have their source lights textured into the model, etc.).
-
These are a must have though...they are sweet, the hull pattern is visable and look very awsome.

Indeed A., it's an amazing job... You are a true artist!

Lemme introduce you all with teh latest member of the family, the Thebes class medium cruiser (Belknap-like variant):
-
Once again you rock...very great modeling...cant wait to see them in action on my comp:-)

Wow... that ship is awesome. I love the way the engines come up from the bottom of the secondary hull... very creative.

The Thebes is based on the Belknap Constitution variant, so the nacelle position is replicated.
-
I might start calling you the God of modeling or something, im doing Wing Commander ships but this is crazy, seems like your just wipping these up in a few min:-), its taking me like months per ship, and they arent even textured yet..
-
Thebes is great, it's my favorite of the bunch. I like how you have the nacelle pylons much better on this one than on Luxor.
-
I agree with DJ, but the same ways as with the Belknap, i don't know SF would bash the ship jus to change the pillows... to quote Mark at the podcast ep 1 "it seems a bit... well.. pointless"
Great job on the model though.
-

Seconded.
It also looks slightly like the Protector from Galaxy Quest :)
And it reminds me of a picture I once saw on google. I'll have try find it...
Great work Adonis!!!
-
Well, the Thebes actually has more firepower than the Luxor, that's the main point. Altho the Belknap doesn't make much sense either, it's still my fav Connie variant :P

The Ships are looking good, Dude! It was a privilege to watch her being assembled in the construction yard. On the TMP Belknap/Decatur variant- There is a difference in the secondary hull (shorter neck length), warp pylons, impulse engine housing and engineering hull (which is smaller) I'll send you some references ;) -BR32
-
The ships are looking VERY good, very good indeed.
I love how the textures around the bridges look like the Pharoahs' head decorations. Adds a real hint of ancient Egypt to it.
-
hey adonis, nice worl :p
question tho: are u gonna do a miranda-type variant perhaps?

Yup ;)

Excellent work Adonis, I can't wait to download these ships. 8)

More ingame shots, this time of the Thebes:
-
Hey Adonis, they look cool, but testing them ingame at home, i really think you should lighten that deflector a bit more.
-

I'll see about that, I mean, I already made the lighted up plasma grid stronger and more pronounced. I'll leave these small tuning stuff the last, before the release.
-
More pix, this time of the Tutmoses III class, stay tuned for more...
-
OK, here's more:
-
looking awesome :D
-
These ships are just awsome.
-
Great!!!
-
**sorry double post**
Talking about the Dish and Lightning, at last someone achieves the correct range on the Alpha Channel on a TMP ship...
-
I like that dreadnought one. I have an addiction to third nacelles...
-
They look really great ingame :) Looking forward to see the miranda variant :)
-
agreed. i'll bet a miranda style ship would look sweet.

Couldn't agree more, how about another to add to the fleet Adonis!? :D
-
Now THAT would be cool. I'm into the Miranda right now...
-
These are really cool designs! I like how you've incorporated Egyptian style.
-
The Sneferu's maiden voyage:
-
that looks awesome adonis
-
More ingame shots, this time of the Thebes:
If the Engine Lighting was done, that second one (Pose and BG lighting) would be my desktop right now. That's the only thing stopping me from D/Ling that for a desktop- I like the Ships to have power running to the engines.
Also, what class is flying alongside the Sneferu? Looks like a seriously upgraded Boston Class from SFC.
-

They're P81's Araxes class ships...I'm soo iching to redo those too. Like the design, but not the model...
As for the engine lightning, weeeel, that's another little thing in the works to make them cannonically light up during warp only
-
Well, they look great, at any rate. I like P81's ships, but I do think that it's time for an overhaul of the older ones... I would but I have ZERO retexturing/modeling skills.
Anywho, don't want to hijack the thread. Great work, though.
-
I mainly meant the Impulse Engines.
-
This is going to be a sweet mod pack when it comes out.

Im glad you said that about the P81 Araxes class, i hope you will do that, she is a good design, and these ships look great, i can't wait to have them in my install.
-
Well, not much ref on the Araxes I'm afraid. I wanna redo her, but I only have P81's POS model to go from.

You could always try your own version, a re-imagineing if you will.

Well, I would only need to expand on it, since P81s models aren't known for detail after all.

Update:

Next in line will be the 2 nacelle Malkata (Constant class IIRC).

-
 looks great!! :D really like to see your Constant variant :P
-
Adonis are you going to do a Constellation Variant?
-
OK, the Constant-like Malkata Mk3 done:
Next are the Miranda and Constellation-like.
-
Nice work Adonis, I really like the Malkata MK3, looks sleek!! 8)
Great work once again lol. :D
-
This pack keeps getting better and better every day.
I cant wait to see the Constellation-like I bet it well look sweet. :D :D :D
-
now thats cool
-
I'm in love...
-
sweet
-
Nice!
Curious, is the Malkata Mk3 a freighter/cargo ship? In other words, a more modern classification of the TOS Ptolemy?
-
Nice!

No, she's a Frigate ;)
-
Ok, ingame shots of the Tutankhamun, and two pix on changes on the textures using the Luxor as the showcase. Pay attention to the bridge "collar" panneling and the nacelles and nacelle struts (altho, I don't think that the strut changes are visible, basicly just a red line to separate the teal from the satin white)
-
wow
-
Beautiful, just beautiful.
All these ships look like a logical progression from TMP to more "modern" upgrades.
-
I wonder what that vessel flying alongside the Luxor in warp is... Looks to have Adonis written all over it...

No, it's Mindblip's Ashton class starship. One I use as a small escort vessel all the time in TMP fleet battles :)

OK, update:
The Constellation-like, from now on known as Sekhet Aaru Class (read this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaru) article to understand what it means, with a sidenote, that it is the constellation Orion that the Egyptians considered as Osiris, so I basicly kept true to the original design's name lol). Still have the texturing to complete.

NCC-4200 USS Sekhet Aaru
NCC-4201 USS Sekhet Hetepet
NCC-4202 USS Sothis
NCC-4203 USS Osiris
NCC-4204 USS Isis
NCC-4205 USS Heru

Superb job really does look cool, definitely better than the standard constellation.

indeed i am interested to see the aft view of the constellation looking ship though i dont see any top launchers visible

I see the work gets better everytime I check in, superb ! :)

Update:

Looks great. :D :D

Update:

Very nice work adonis. It's funny, these ships kind of make me think of Starfleet in a very close alternate reality. Very similar to our universe, but with stylistic differences.
The ship definitely has an Adonis 'feel' to it.
Good job!

Very nice looking ships Adonis.

ugh
please do not ever ever ever bump such an old thread asking for updates or a status report or anything of the sort about a dormant project...
clearly if there were any updates, or anything at all to post in the last year and a half, it would be posted dontcha think? ;)
