Title: LifePod Interior
Post by: Mark on June 20, 2007, 07:03:19 PM
Im doing this one because it should be pretty quick and simple and it should also mean we have a bridge to swap to when you abandon ship.. the following is about 4hrs work, I am still planning to make one or two changes before starting to LM.

Thanks to SevenOfNine from the EF2 community for the furniture :).

Looks amazing Mark.
My only complain is that you should have some metal floor instead of carpet.

yes, I intend to make some changes to the floor and floor cills.

I suppose it could double as a shuttle bridge. Well done so far.

I love it!

I have downloded the latest abandon ship mod and I have a few questions:

- will this mod have its own script files or is this just an addition to the existing mod
- will there be a new model of the Galaxy escape pod as well - I remember the Galaxy escape  pods in the old mod looked a bit like a latern with big red dots on the sides.
- how will the bridge be changed ingame - will there be a another loading screen once you give abandoning order or does the bridge change occur flawlessly

Looking forward to this

this isnt a mod, its a bridge that others can script into the abandon ship mod if they want.

I have added a pic of a miranda class escape pod interior
its from DS9 The Fallen
It?s not very detailed but you get the basic idea.

Mark did you use canon material for your lifepod interiors?
I can?t remeber an episode which featured one...

as I recall we get to see some of the inside of a Miranda pod in Emissary, But apparently they were a reuse of the runabout set that is introduced later in that episode.  also we see part of the inside of an Intrepid pod in Year of Hell

how about adding a mobile subspace distress beacon to the interior of the escape pod?
I think every lifeboat was equipped with one

not to rain on your prarade or anything, but neiter a game is canon, nor has this 'subspace distress beacon' of yours any function in-game except taling up polies and memory.
I. for one, am quite satisfies with Mark's model and am looking forward to seeing it in-game. Wheter it will be scripted into the abandon ship mod or not.

'nuff said.

Don't get me wrong - this was just a proposal.
I am satisfied with Mark's work as well and am looking forward to it.

OK, i started it again, and then started it again and Im now at a more circular design which is much larger. The plan is to add a small medical area, on the port side of the module, a helm station in the centre, and then the forward and starboard areas are for seating.

1508 polies right now if anyones wondering

You kept the old concept, didn't you? it can surely work for a shuttle of some sort.

How about having a Tactical and Engineering "arm" console on the far end of each bench (Just one of each in total, mind)?
Title: Re: LifePod Interior
Post by: Mark on June 30, 2007, 05:43:08 AM
what would the tactical console do? remember this thing has no weapons.

Post by: starfleetadmiral on June 30, 2007, 06:27:33 AM
I know. But Tactical would be in charge of keeping track of all vessels in the area. Or replace Tactical with Comms or the XO's Console. Just some ideas.
And you might want to put a Replicator in there as well? What's the point of escape if you starve to death.

Remember the vessel is very limited, i doubt they would put any kind of complex sensor array on it - an extra station for it would be overkill.

This is a small vessel with very little power, theres no way they would have a replicator. I am intending to add some ration packs laying around though.

Wow! That really looks cool, Mark. I hope you make room for all the bots. IMO, the Life Pod should be a bit over-crowded. With people making regular trips to the replicator or the head, lol. The ration packs are a good ideal. If your looking for extra crewmen? I have (15) custom characters too choose from. -BR32

Great work Mark. Adding more than simple controls is a bit excessive for an escape pod, most basic functions will already be pre-programmed.

awesome idea, hope it gets released soon! as i am presently messing with my abandon ship mod and it just needs one last thing.............................THIS!
and just a quick question (well afew)

1, How hard would it be to make a Delta Flyer  (or any shuttle craft for that matter) bridge?
2, are there any plans to make a Delta Flyer bridge?

Aham- We have a thread for this kind of questions, it`s sticked at the top of the page.
As for how hard, it`s not exactly hard, but it`s tedious and takes a lot of time (which most of us don`t have right now)

Totally. Frigging. Awesome.

I know I've been wondering for a while when an escape pod bridge would be released. This'll really add to the game, if I can figure out how to script it in...

i think the first escape pod bridge looks better, the newer one seems to big for an escape pod.

All this is very exciting...it was always kind of a letdown to evacuate the ship and still have the full bridge.

Though I am forced to wonder how one would set up the scripts to switch bridges mid battle...but I am not a coder and have no real knowlege of such things.

I am sure you folks will make this amazing.

Escape pods are bigger than most would guess.

Escape pods are bigger than most would guess.

That would depend on the craft it's originally from. As Mark didn't really say to what ship the pod belongs, he can pretty much do anything he wants :)
I would imagine that the Delta Flyer's pod we actually see in Voyager (very claustropfobic) is  a lot smaller then, say, the Galaxy's.. that said, I personally prefer the first concept shown here, it looks great.

You know, I've been thinking about having a go at modelling and texturing the Delta Flyer bridge
for some time now, after I'm done with the stuff I'm currently working on. If, say, the guys from 3rd era wanted someone to do it for them, I'd be happy to oblige ;)
