Title: Constitution Class MSD
Post by: MickJo on June 26, 2007, 03:43:01 PM
The latest Photoshop work is a MSD for the Constitution Class. Since we didn't see one onscreen in the feature films, i've had to create it from scratch.

critique as always is welcome...

nice.
and it looks right as a TMP MSD should be.

just get propper documentation on the deck amount. there are some thoughts (tho a movie scene shows it) that the connie had more than 80 decks.

80 decks is complete rubbish. just count the windows and compare to the Excelsior.

Nice so far.

lol yeah no way the connie had anywhere near 80 decks. i'd say the figure would be more like 25.

Lol, Star Trek 5:The Final Frontier.

Turboshaft with the deck numbers whizzing by as McCoy, Spock and Kirk zoom upwards.
Ya, they even showed a certain deck twice.

Cool MSD there MickJo.
It's looking fantastic. A+ for sure.

Nice work MickJo, looks like you've made a good start on this MSD. The outline of the ship is good and the monitor's look cool.

You might be interested in posting some of your work here:- http://www.explorermedia.net/main/news.php

It's the sister-site to BCC, and there is some pretty good MSD's on the boards here too!!

As I said earlier, great work!!

cool.  i like it.  though if i'm not mistaken, the shuttlebay is considerably larger than that, and it also is a part of an even larger cargo bay areas that takes up a large portion of the secondary hull.  This is according to Andrew Probert, who helped do the redesign for the Motion Picture.

Thanks DJ, i've been looking for any schematic for the seconday hull. I wasn't sure about the layout of the shuttlebay or cargo decks.

If you look at the warp core placement on Probert's schematic, the Deflector array clearly doesn't have the same sort of roots that it has on TNG and later vessels, otherwise it would intersect the warp core. As for matter/antimatter storage, above/below the cargo bays looks good.

If you look at the MSD for the Galaxy, they take up a large amount of room. Personally I'd put antimatter at the bottom, connected to the bottom of the warp core, and matter above the cargo bays, connected to the top of the warp core and the impulse reactors.

I agree with RC.  The warp core should run basically right behind the main deflector and up to the dome in front of the impulse engines.

here are the best (I think) cutaway schematics which I would use on MSD display, maybe slightly modyfing it.

I'd say those look very accurate.

Minor update

I decided not to have cargo decks that make up practically the entire seconday hull. Also, since this is the Enterprise A i wanted to use the shuttlebay from ST:V.
