Hi !
I decided to temporarily leave ships retextures and get my hands on bridges, first will be Enterprise B bridge cuz it looks (no offense 3rd era Crew) a little outdated and definitely too bright also I wanted to focus on TMP LCARS(or whatever they should be named) screens and give them more Generations look.
so far I changed overall lighting on the bridge and toned down brown and blue colors on walls, removed and replaced some displays and little surprise :D added red carpet by altering floor lighting :D
take a look and give every opinion you like
-
hmm that looks delicious!!!
-
Much more colorful.
Glad to have another bridge re-texturer to swap files and fun with!

looks fly!

indeed!! i can never say enough that there can be no such thing as too many different bridge retextures... the more the merrier! :D

None taken, we did little more then package and release it. As for what you're doing, its a nice idea, but I definately have some pointers for you if you are interested:
- You have gone too dark with the colours of the okudagrams, the blues should not be that deep or dark, I would also consider reducing the saturation.
- The idea of using the floor LM to add colour patches is something I have seen before but you have to be careful about texture resolutions, the stock texture is already 1024x1024, and I wouldnt advise pushing it much over that
- The red patches on the floor look cool, but in the film it was just red carpet for the guests.. I dont think it would be a permenant feature
- The panels next to the doors (i think theyre off the miranda bridge?) are LCARS. On the miranda I wanted them to look like early implementations of the system from TNG but in this context they are about 100 years before their time.
- The doors (again from the miranda?) are cool but you could make them more canon without too much effort, also the blue should be more of a teal colour
- The running lights under the viewscreen (from the enterprise a) are incorrect, in the film it was a kind of blue bar with light pulsing through it
- The "light pole" at the front should have an orange light in it, similar to the one on the enterprise a
Overall I like it, but if you are striving for a canon look there is definately more you can do, be sure to check out trek cores screencaps of generations (http://movies.trekcore.com/gallery/index.php?cat=8&page=1) for some extra help, I will attach some of the better pics.

Those are the best.. good luck and have fun!

Wow thanks Mark I'll try to do my best follow your tips.
yeah most of details like door panels, doors and lights under view screen are not finished cuz I just took some parts of miranda and ent-a bridges cuz they were more accurate
I'm using trek core screencaps for reference and there were few pics with very intense blue on displays but yeah will lighten them a little :)
-
if you are adding the red carpet, you might as well use BP to add a few chairs. oh and if you need any more photos, I have the DVD.
-
actually I would add some additional chairs but I can't edit bridge models in milkshape so any help would be very appreciate, I have DVD too and work mostly with it and trek core.
displays are now desaturated also doors and door panels are changed to more canon
next I planed to lighten brown colors and then fill walls with the rest of displays
take a look
-
Can we see pics of the model instead of shots from the film :P LOL j/k! That is amazing!
-
Some models could use changing (IE doors and chairs) but its a brilliant retexture. Nice job.
-
if you are just wanting to make small changes you can use nifskope, but be careful to make backups because its very easy to corrupt the nif. I would offer to make changes on the base max file but sadly it was lost a long time ago - otherwise I would have made alot of changes before release :P
Your okudagram colours look very much better, the doors are also much more canon but try scaling the labels a little smaller on the x axis (they look a bit too wide).
if you need any help with the model, or textures, or getting some nice screenies - just gimme a shout.
Nice work
-
Ok so I've changed browns a bit and added some patterns on door walls then I'll add it to doors and make them more teal and lighten those blue panels under displays. Floor is still bare - I'm looking for nice carpet map that will fit the best.

I would be pleased if you could add those chairs everytime I try to edit NIF the effects are at least scary :)
here's small update on walls:
-
you don't need to edit the model, all you need to do is use BP
-
you don't need to edit the model, all you need to do is use BP
Depends what you are wanting to change, if you just want to add chairs then yes you can do that using BP - but you could also merge the nifs with nifskope (a cleaner option)
-
ok double post here cuz I can't edit previous post :?
So displays are applied, almost everything done
now I have to wait for those chairs... hope they'll arrive till tuesday :P and also have to find a better floor pattern and light under viewscreen.
any opinions (please be harsh on the textures cuz I want them as canon as possible)
-
That's bloody amazing. I could spend hours looking at all the little details.
Amazing, keep up the excellent work there Bones. :D
-
Very, very nice. Be sure to let us know when it's released!
-
Very cool. Although, I also think that the red carpet should go since it was only put down for when the guests of honor (Kirk, Chekov and Scotty) arrived. Meaning that, it wasnt a permanent feature.
Other then that, awesome. Who did you get to do new chairs then?
-
hm the red carpet ? this bridge was meant to recreate generations as much as possible including guest chairs and red carpet :)
I hope Mark will find some spare time to add some chairs :D

I'm afraid its a busy weekend this weekend - and i already have a lot of tasks for Excalibur that need finishing.
I like what you have done a lot, I think its just about as good as you can get with a re-texture.

No not permanent , but part of the bridge as we saw it , on screen
-
You might be able to separate out the existing chairs using NIFskope. Then just clone them, reposition and remerge... not sure if NIFskope can do that though...

Chair animations wouldnt work if you did that - objects cannot be replaced and anchor points cannot be edited, at least not without making a new anim.

It is a good day to revive an old thread :D
As I successfully passed all my exams I can restart works on my projects and here are some results :
-All displays are animated and finished
-Doors are now proper colored and signs are resized
-carpet texture is now cleaner
I have some overkill textures like 2048x4096 but that's only for two LCARS maps and will be released as ULTRA HIGH res upgrade only so no worries :D I'll release it with standard 1024x2048 maps the rest is also around 1024 or 2048 so expect clear and nice quality textures.
still I need to :
-change control pads all over the bridge as they are old and fitted for Ent-A not Ent-B
-add blinkers under the viewscreen
-make some custome sounds (red alert was similiar to voyagers horn tho it was a little different :D )
-post it on BCFiles and finally let you enjoy it :P
here's few pics
-
awesome!! :D
-
NICE work! :D Hey, with regards to the alert klaxons, perhap you could look up that one voyager episode where Tuvok had his memory bein' played with by that Virus and we went back in time to the Excelsior! I LOVED that ep, and I recall a REALLY cool alert klaxon being used in that ep! :D Perhaps that particular klaxon should be for yellow alert, though, rather than red. Since, in my humble opinion, it would be more cannon to go with what's seen in the movies than the show... though since we never saw the Excelsior at yellow alert in the movies, you've got a little bit of room for some fun, methinks. :)
This is SO cool. Best of luck!
-
Glad you like it :D
As for those alerts, I can't recall which episode was that I only remember flashback with excelsior tho not muxh rly :( I'll have to check it out soon as my friend have all VOY seasons :D I wanted to make something like a kind of trasition from TMP to early TNG to show that TMP era is at it's end with this ship so definitly no TMP klaxons like on ENT-A bridge... so this would suit tho I need to find that ep first, as you said I've got a little bit room for some fun here and I'm about to use it :D just like on early TMP miranda bridge.
stay tuned for next updates as I'm planning to finish up thi one pretty soon :D
-
the alert klaxon is almost exactly like the one used in Voyager, just a little higher in pitch... (if i recall correctly)
with Audacity (free program), you could use the Voyager one and shift up the pitch just a little bit...
as far as that Tuvok episode, that was aboard the USS Excelsior and this is a bridge for the Enterprise... it is possible those two ships had different alert klaxons..
-
Actually, here you go.
&feature=related
it's split into five parts. I think parts 3-4 have the most scenes on board the excelsior. I just listened to the klaxons in that ep, and I really like it. (You'll also notice that TMP ships do seem to, in fact, have skin shields... just a side-note, though completely irrelevant here. ;))
-
yes, but this is for the Enterprise-B and not the Excelsior...
different bridges... different klaxons it would seem...
-
Yeah, I know. Just a thought, anyways... we never did hear the yellow alert klaxon for either. Assuming they even had them. Again, just an idea. :)
-
i agree that the klaxon in that episode is pretty cool... but to manufacture that sound might be a little difficult since (as far as i know) it can't be found anywhere except in that episode and then there is all the background noise and all that stuff to filter out... just sounds like a major process/headache... of course, i hope i am wrong in that perhaps that sound file is available somewhere by itself...
the Voyager-like one, a few pitches higher (as heard in Generations) would be much much easier to do... i might even be able to see if i can put it together later on today actually...
-
Well I think Jimmy has a good point here as the main point of this mod is to bring ENT-B as much canon as it is possible to BC and I agree about that klaxon it's rly cool tho I'll leave red alert as it was in Generations and I will try to make similiar sound from flashback for yellow alert klaxon in BC :D If I'll be successful then you'll be forced to use more yellow alert than red :P

indeed it would be pain in a$$ to make that sound :(
although the one from GEN is like you said just a few pitches higher (couldn't find that word :D thx Jimmy :D ) and so easy to achieve but I'll try the harder way first ;)
-
actually - i just put in the Generations DVD and made the Voyager alert klaxon exactly the pitch as it is heard in Generations...
it was very easy - all i did was take the Voyager alert and up the pitch by 20%, and listened to it side by side with the DVD and it is pretty much exact... (im assuming thats all they did when they made Generations, just took the Voyager alert and increased the pitch a bit...)
please feel free to compare this yourself to the DVD; of course, if it is slightly off, it can be further tweaked but i think it is pretty much exactly as heard in the DVD :D
and please feel free to incorporate this into the bridge if youd like :)
the only thing i might be slightly off on is the duration of the actual alert klaxon and the duration of the space between the klaxons... but they seem pretty much spot-on i think... lemme know tho - i can tweak it further :)
and this alert i threw together is 10 klaxons long, of course that can be cut in half or whatever lol
-
yay double post! lol :P
here is the scene where the alert klaxon on the Ent-B bridge can be heard...
heard at 3:22
-
YOU JUST EARNED A COOKIE JIMMY !!!!!!
Thanks I forgot to say :D
-
Kirk! NOOOOOOO!!! Damn you and your heroics! T_T
Anywho, Jimmy's right. :)
-
i would give you a cookie, but i wont get them until tuesday... nice work so far
-
Yeah didn't you heard they will bring new cookies along with tractor beam and photons till tuesday :P LOL
-
if a cookie = beer, i'll happily have as many as possible! :D :P
to hell with my liver! lol
-
As for the beer, I'm right after 5th beer so far (having barbecue in my garden :) as I just finished high school :D ) so cheers lads !!!
I can drink as my liver is healthy (for now)
like cap'n sparrow would said ...Drink up my hearties !!!
-
Hey great bridge doc, always had a soft spot for this bridge. Just listening to the claxon, it sounds like a higher pitched version of what they used on Voyager.
-
thats exactly what i was just saying at towards the end of the previous page - in fact, i put a klaxon together for Dr_McCoy :P
altho comparing the two again, perhaps mine is just a slight tiny bit higher in tone than the scene actually...
maybe by a very very very slight bit tho... i can fix it - lemme know, Dr_McCoy :)
-
wow jimmy,
a cookie for you, because this is the first time i have seen you mod in one way or another!
-
well, i have made a whole lot of minor tweaks in scripts and such for my own install, just never really "released" anything tho...
-
that sound suits very well :D thx again Jimmy :D
btw. call me Bones ;)
-
I've packed this bridge and it's ready for uploading tho I'll have to wait one more day due to very low transfer (dunno what causes it) but tomorrow I'll try to send it to BCFiles :D
I think we can lock down this thread as it served it's purpose. I'll make new thread in Downloads section as soon as it's up on BCF ;)

Nice job with the retexture. When I first made this bridge, it wasnt the primary goal. It was an after thought from the creation of the Excelsior. I ahd always planned on going back, and rebuilding it from scratch for version 2.0. Alas, life catches up, and stuff like this goes to the wayside. Someday, maybe I'll get to that 2.0 version. LOL, of course by then, it'll probably be like a version 20.0 at the rate you guys do retextures.
