Im considering installing a nice copy of windows vista to replace my aging XP install - I have had it installed before and know about all the usual comments, I don't really like the system but change happens and I have to get used to it (as long as im not paying 200 quid for it (my workplace has given me a copy for free)).
Anyways, the only thing thats going to stop me now is the need for 3DS Max 3; has anyone else here had it running on vista? or has anyone else had problems with it running under vista?
Cheers

i have read that previous Max version's up to the most recent have had problems running in vista,
So i dont like 3.1's chances :?

One might argue that Max3.1 is decidedly more simple than the later versions, so I dare say it stands a better chance. Besides, there is always the compatibility mode thingy. :)

so the answer to my question is no, nobody has tried it :P
Ill get my m8 to try it before I install vista then.

im sure you would have gotten an answer if max 3.1 was more readily available,
The problem is you dont see many people who still have it anymore :(

Much like bridge commander then :funny

but if you do decide you want BC one day, it is readily available at second hand shops
downloading software is naughty

Or i could just install it from my CD..
Works perfectly for anyone wondering, although thats more then i can say for macromedia suite 8 (i know its out of date but its more stable then adobes release)

I have Max 3 and Vista, and they work fine together. Oddly enough, it's Max 9 that gives me problems!

Max 9 needs SP2 installing (the max SP, not windows :P)
I reinstalled windows vista and max 3 wont work nemore lol - fun fun fun

Yeah and that function has worked so well in the past for Windows :P *insert sarcasm*
I personally have no intention of using Vista until A: I have a better computer setup, and B: until SP1 has been released.

I may use vista on a new computer made for it, not before. Not worth the headache of compatibility to me.

And Fireworks has some features that I wish Adobe would do like dotted lines etc
