Post by: Adonis on March 04, 2008, 10:14:00 AM
She's the Mesopotamia class starship, nearly done, left some aztec to finish and some small detailing. She'll be released soon :)

The white background is only to bring out the shape of the ship, black one messes that up quite nicely.Update: the aztec is finished (finally) only to see about a few windows and stuff.

The Ships! They come out of nowhere!

ahem, now that I got that out of my system.  She has modified Luxor nacelles, and she's big...I take it she's either a Dreadnaught or a Colonization ship. She's textured similarily to the TMP Joshua, so I would say that she is probably Slightly older chronologically than the luxor-era vessels.

Saying anything else is useless as there's nothing to improve on this ship.  An obvious +1.

One of the old school greats comes out to play in the sandbox, and look what he builds.

I am normally no major fan of TMP-era star ships, primarily for the fact that most of them seem to look like little more than kitbashes of each other. However... this ship you've developed, Adonis, looks very nicely done. And while I'm no major fan of the TMP ships, save for Cannon designs, I must say that this is, as I said prior, nicely done. I therefor reward you with a cookie for your sheer skills and talent, as proven here with this project. :)

OK, now, this is the TNG version. I tho, do have a question. Should I do a version with this coloring but with the TMP weapon setup (there's a slight difference in the detailing between the two versions, the belly phasers are absent on the retexture), call it a late TMP version.
Title: Re: Mesopotamia class
Post by: rengers on March 20, 2008, 10:12:17 AM
I told you already that it looks awsome, but I will with good grace repeat it to the mass:

absolute stunning work, the mesh is ingenious and the textures are just awsome :D

Looks good! One thought... perhaps the teal is a little too strong? I dunno, could just be me. :P Again, looks good.

As for the textures for a late-TMP, well, that's totally up to you. I'm sure it'll all turn out wonderful in the end. :)

The pale shade is the same as on the Lakota studio model (ok, it could have some gray in it too, but it's teh closest I got, a turquoise shade BTW).

Indeed, the lokata's bluegreen secondary colors were extremely bright,  The color look perfect to me.

I'm all for a late TMP version as well, variety is good.

OK, more screens coming up. Now, we have here the NX Mesopotamia (you'll notice that I lowered the reg number), then the late TMP version USS Lagash, and the early TNG version USS Assyria. I have made like 31 name variants in all lol. Now, just to hp the weapons and we're good to go :)

I honestly think this is one of a couple of non-canon ships that I truely love man.  Simply amazing.  You've now made me confused as to which ship should be on my top 3 favorites LOL

This class,
Vivace,
Century (even though I cannot play it on this computer :()

Good job! COOKIE :D

lol i have seen it on some site before. Maybe it was just me imagaining it.

Or perhaps you were thinking of the Excelsiors?

Back on topic. . .the only thing I like more than the ship are the names you've picked. Despite being an American, I appreciate your stepping out of the conventional American/English naming system because it's more indicative of a Unified Earth IMO.

31 ships is a bit excessive. But that wont stop me downloading them when they are ready.

You might have noticed that I don't use US/UK based names on my own designs. If you ask me, those names are overused in ST.

Ahhh, I'm pleased to see a ship pack with different names and registries - excellent.  In looking at the pictures of this beauty, I really like how the nacelles sit just slightly below the saucer section instead of the usual heightened position.

well, it has been over 2 years since any news on it, so i think it is safe to say it fizzled...
while im sure your interest in this project is appreciated, it is sort of a "general rule" around here not to bump old threads asking for updates...  if an author has something to post, they will...  if they dont, the thread fades out like this one did...

that being said, im gonna lock this thread...  if adonis (who is busy working on Excalibur anyway) does have anything in the future, he can PM one of us to unlock the thread...
