The game works fine but whenever I add a borg ship to the game it freezes. It's with any borg ship. I think it has something to do with the mp3 file that plays when they enter. Has anyone else had the same problem?
-
I haven't heard of any problem.
Try alt+tabbing and see if you can find a BC icon, go to that (through alt+tab but holding the tab to see the window and pressing tab to move an icon). Take a screenshot (Alt+Printscreen), type in abort and confirm with Enter. BC will close. Open paint, make the default canvas small, press Ctrl+v, save as png to a location you can later find again, and attach the image you produced here.

Sorry, when I said freeze I meant that it freezes and then just exits to the desktop with an error message (BC has stopped working: Close program/report problem)
-
Are you running it in windowed mode?
-
I'll have to check it, but it seems the same problem as I have.
I expect a corrupted AI because when you add a friendly borg, nothing happens, only when he tries to attack, right? try it!

No, i'm running full screen.I'll have to check it, but it seems the same problem as I have.

Yeah, i'll give that a go.

That's probably the problem, however, run in windowed mode, so when the error happens the debug window can catch it.

in the last moths i have gained some experience with bc simply crashing and closing. a very often problem is: if you attach an event handler to a not valid object bc crashes totally without any error.
if the error is in the AI it may be a conditional or target preprocessing AI wich is somehow not working properly because this ones most likely do something when a enemy ship enters the set. ???
just in case this would help someone to get an idea.

Have you tried the mp3 files themselves?
They are:
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/FirstContactBorgSpeech.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/FirstContactBorgSpeech.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/FirstContactBorgSpeech.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/FirstContactBorgSpeech.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/FirstContactBorgSpeech.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/BasicSpeechVoyager.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/LowerShieldsSurrerShipsLowQ.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/ResistanceIsFutile.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/WeBorgYouAssimlitanceFutile.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/YourCultureLowQ.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/YourDefensiveCabilitiesLowQ.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/AddDistinctivenessLowQ.wav
sfx/Custom/AssimilationBeam/FreedomIrrelevantLowQ.wav
This script is really simple, no AI involved at all.

was just an idea i had that seemed to fit in here, in case it weren't the sounds...

Oh yeah, moved to Technical Support (I ought to move the other Borg Greeting sound thread here).

if you are using the Kobayashi Maru Mod and believe the problem to be AI related, then read my post here:
http://bc-central.net/forums/index.php?topic=2658.msg48526#msg48526
and when i say replace, i do not mean overwrite. i mean delete the old and replace with the new.
