here is the screenshot, and the mods i have dowloaded to the game, are the KM1.0 Full, and the BSG ship pack.

Have you tried going to Map Mode (press m while in Tactical View)?

thats what i did and its still invisible. i know i downloaded it correctly, and is there something im missing?

The general idea with an ship missing is either too big or an empty/corrupt model. But if it's the latter, then I think you would get a crash.

Have you tried deleting the accosiated (sp) _vox.nif files?
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: CAPT joseph white on September 09, 2008, 11:02:06 PM
where do i find these NIF Files? so i can delete them, and do i delete all of the NIF files?
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: Kirk on September 09, 2008, 11:16:30 PM
You find the nif in data\models\ships\"ShipName"\

and, no don;t delete them all, only the one's ending in _vox
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: CAPT joseph white on September 09, 2008, 11:33:49 PM
ok. i clicked data models, ships and ship names and all i see is a Colbtr2cox_glow file, and the and the Pegasus.NIF file, and a text document file. i dont see any files with _vox.
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: Kirk on September 09, 2008, 11:47:31 PM
Mine is like that too, weird. I believe it is the way the ships are set up. (High poly models, not properly mapped or something means the ships won't damage and thus no _vox.nif is created. I think.) However, I have used this ship ingame and it works fine for me.

so what do i do?

Read the comments on BCFiles (what is the link anyway?) and if that doesn't help, then contact the author.

when you posted this problem at the FF forums last week, i posted a link to Dave's forums at BCS and suggested asking what's going wrong there in his forum...  Dave (along with DKealt) is the author of the BSG pack...

i was assuming he meant this was the BSG ship pack he installed - the one Dave was a part of...  i thought DKealt also worked on this, but i guess i was mistaken...

That is so not for you to decide. :raven

Same goes for you lmm086gf!

Ok, give me a link to both mods, tell me which you installed last, and what the exact (screen)name of the ship you are trying is.

A member giving advice is legal.
But not spamming and being patronizing.

You didn't add anything usefull in both cases. You spammed.
Ok, "spamming" might be too strong, parrotting might be more appropiate.

Now, unless someone knows the exact cause, or something different that looks very similar to this, I suggest we wait till the topic poster to return.

Possibility is that the HP of one has overitten the HP of the other, but the equivalent nif hasn't.
If the new HP is smaller than the old model, the camera HP locations may be inside the model, meaning you can't see it.

Check the camera locations in the MPE for that model to make sure they're outside it.

Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: El on September 12, 2008, 05:52:47 PM
There's no manual, you'll need to learn this yourself I'm afraid.

The properties your interested in start 'Viewscreen...' and 'FirstPersonCamera'
Make sure they are positioned outside the model.....
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack

and if they are not, what do i do?

Position them outside of the model. :P

In MPE, they ought to be labeled Viewscreen Forward, Left, Right, etc.

Unless you are going to be using the AI editor, the path doesn't matter.

And most people need to create it. "DriveLetter", for the AIEditor, is C.

The thing is, you can install it anywhere you like. Just as long as you can remember where you installed it.

ok i created a path for sdk, and i clicked into the MPE folder and all i see is some files that say, APP.PY, APP.PYC, Global prperty editor.py, Global property editor.pyc, MPE registration entries, and a model property editor MFC Application file. i dont see anything that says veiwscreen.
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: Kirk on September 13, 2008, 08:32:53 PM
That's because you haven't opened MPE yet. Run "MPE Registration Entries" and then open "Model Property Editor."

ok, i opened MPE, and its running, i loded the Pegesus model, and a message comes up saying no Model script found do you want to load one? do i need a model script?

Click no then resize the window as you want it. Then click open again and load the hp. (I really ought to get to writing that MPE guide.)

Just look and see if the properties are inside of the model. If they aren't then you won't need to edit anything. If they are, then I'll walk you through it.

Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack

how will i know if they are inside the Model?
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: MLeo on September 14, 2008, 07:01:15 AM
You can see the model, and viewpoints are piramid shapes, so if the piramid isn't entirely outside the ship, then you will either see clipping, or if you are "lucky" no ship at all.

I'm thinking tough, shouldn't the original mod author not be fixing his/her mod?
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: El on September 14, 2008, 10:45:55 AM
No, because he's installed one pack on top of the other, so not technically a problem with the mod, just a conflict by the sound of it.

This was supposed to be a quick fix, lol.

It might just be easier to reinstall the original HP or model.
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: CAPT joseph white on September 14, 2008, 07:35:46 PM
do you mean, reinstall the whole BSG ship Pack?

First, go through and delete all of the old files, including the files from the beta pack, then reinstall the pack.

That's a good thing. After looking through your scripts\Custom\Ships directory, I can find nothing that could be causing this problem. Try deleting all of the .pyc files from your scripts\Custom\Ships directory. (MLeo, feel free to step in any time. :?)

please use the edit function rather than make multiple posts...

and you really really should try the search function here, as well as at FF (where you originally posted your issue) to find answers on your own end before asking them...  it is becoming very much complicated to walk you thru every little step by step - you really should try and do research on your own to get you through things...

the answers are out there, you just have to try and find them...

why delet the PYC files? what good would that do?
The pyc is the file compiled by the game, and it uses the information supplied by a py file, so by deleting the pyc file , you are a-sured the information [an example: hardpoint] is new [refreashed]
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: Kirk on September 15, 2008, 07:40:21 PM
I run my game at 1024*768 in windowed mode with graphics set to high. Also, I would like for you not to have to uninstall/reinstall because that takes the fun out of the mystery, it takes some time, and then if someone else has this problem we won't know how to fix it.
why delet the PYC files? what good would that do?
It may help by removing ship plugins that only had the py deleted. It's a long shot, but it might work.

Edit: Also, what Tiq wrote is correct too.

be careful not to delete any pyc files that do not contain a py counterpart...  the game will not regenerate them...

Also, I would like for you not to have to uninstall/reinstall because that takes the fun out of the mystery, it takes some time, and then if someone else has this problem we won't know how to fix it.
at this point, i believe a full uninstall/reinstall would be better than trying to describe step by step how to potentially fix the problem...  this thread is 5 pages now, and im not so sure it has really progressed very far...  and, i think you may be confusing the thread author rather than helping/teaching...

IMO, it would be best to start over with a fresh new install and take it from there - step by step...

exactly what i was thinking
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: JimmyB76 on September 15, 2008, 08:32:02 PM
if i were you, id get rid of the install you have now completely...

then put in the BC disc, create a fresh new install...
then apply the BC 1.1 patch...
then, you may want to include KM1 on top of that, as it contains most of the best mods that are out there...
after that, install the BSG pack - not the old 2004 one, but the new one (only):
 http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Battlestar_Galactica_Fleet_Pack;72482
then see how it works out...

i have to be honest in that since the pack was released, i dont think i have ever heard of anyone running into the issue youre reporting...  so it might just be something unique on your end only...

Can you somehow verify which ship, from which mod you used (and put the link to that mod up here)?
Yes, I know we did this before, but that would mean downloading something close to 100MB.

yep, thats the right one...  i dont understand why the ship wouldnt show up ingame, (as i mentioned) i dont think anyone else has ever mentioned the issue before since it was released (i have never encountered that on the few installs i have put the pack on over the years)...
is it just the Pegasus that isnt showing up?
and, have you tried a new install to see if it is occurring again?
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: CAPT joseph white on September 17, 2008, 03:05:47 PM
yes i reinstalled the game, and the patch. and i put the mod in with KM full 9.0, and im still getting the same thing with Pegesus, and Galactica. i dont understand why im having this problem. could it be that i have a low end computer.
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: MLeo on September 17, 2008, 03:08:30 PM
Normally, when you have a "low-end" computer, the game will either run really slow, or crash.  Or white ships, but we never encounterd a situation where it simply didn't show a ship.

What are your system specifications anyway?

There is something I find slightly odd in the first image.
No shields or other controls. Not even icons.
Title: Re: bsg ship mod pack
Post by: JimmyB76 on September 17, 2008, 05:33:46 PM
one thing i do know, the Galactica and Pegasus (and others i think?) in the fleet pack come with no shields, i think i recall Dave mentioning that technically isnt "canon"...  and there are no torp systems on those two ships (and others?) also for the same reason...  of course, this means that Felix cannot control the ship or fire (or attack) without a torp system put in, but if youre steering the ship and such i think it works fine...  personally, i had put in torp systems anyway, even with it having no torps...

as far as the ships not showing up, i must admit i am at a complete loss; i have no idea at all why that is occurring, and i truly dont recall anyone having ever mentioning the same issue in the past :(

I wonder, have you tried setting it to something other than high?

But I would really like to know your system specifications as well.

According to this an integrated thing:
