So, anyone remember this?  i figured i'd just post here since BCU seems to have really slowed down, and the community is getting a lot smaller.
Anyways, I've got a new PC and most of the finishing touches have been put on this ship.  I really hate doing HP's, so I'm going to seek someone out to finish up that for me.
From there I'm going to do a couple of tweaked HP's and release a pack of 2-4 Vivace Class ships.  Ideally this will all be available before Legacy comes out so that some people might actually play with this baby before moving on.  Who knows, if Legacy turns out to be as moddable as BC has been, then this ship might see life in that game too.

				I remember this one.  She's a fine ship. :)

			-
legacy will be as modaable as BC and i personaly will port allot of ships over to that game ;)
so if you wouldnt mind id love to port this baby once i have the game.
I actualy have 1 suggestion to the ship.
the deflector could u switch the brown with the blue, casue i think that would look better, but he its your ship so u decide :P

				Shes a beauty.

Shes a beauty.
Indeed she is

Any more images of her? would like to see her full dorsal and ventral sections.

			-
A magnificant design DJ Curtis, im glad you in a BC forum again...

			-
Man i had never forgotton about her, and i had been wondering  what had happened to it.

			-
Gorgeous..., Simply Gorgeous!!, I was hoping to see the Schumann again. Glad to know you've almost got her released!!
Oh and Btw, welcome to BCC, this is where it's at!! :D

			-
Looks great DJ. Good to see you back.

			-
Someone please hardpoint that beauty so she can grace my collection of the most purdy ships ever made.

Thanks for the public and private offers to HP guys, I've changed my mind and just started working on it myself since I've got a bit of time this weekend.  After a considerable amount of time messing around, i finally got the dorsal phaser arcs to work, it is such a pain in the butt.  I'll NEVER EVER mod another ship again with a split phaser array, only full arrays from now on, those are easy.
anyway, now that I've got those two done, the ventral saucer arrays should be easy, and the rest are pretty much just small arrays.  There are 13 in total.  Everything else is pretty simple.  Hopefully it'll be done by the end of the weekend, the HP that is.
Once the HP's done, I've got to fix up a few things here and there, and then voila!

			-
send me the ship and your hp perhaps I can give you some advice. I don't understand everyones trouble with these, alot of people must be taking the wrong approach.

			-
Well, my troubles are pretty well solved.  I just have a hard time telling, by using the MPE, where the phasers are going to actually fire.  I find it's polygon representation kinda confusing, always have.

			-
I always start with -30 on the left and 30 right for both horiz and vert axis, and that tells me where it's going. Then it's as simple as playing with the 1's and zero's in the upper left to get it pointed, in this case, port or starboard. Ofcourse you'll want to have an oval at this point to help see how much tilt you need but from there you go with decimals in one of those boxes to manuver it around. Never touch the spin button if you want symetrical fire. If I could find video software that could take pictures of what I was doing while taking imput from a mic I could take care of that ina  video tutorial.

			-
thanks for the advice SF, i tried the 30 thing and it helped.  I've now got all the phaser array arcs set up, as well as the locations for all the other systems and weapons.  now it's just a matter of going through and doing the strength and balancing.
Here are some ingame shots.  hope you guys like em.

			-
				Awesomeness :D
I'd gladly betatest it for you prior to release.

			-
				 wow, well done...

			-
				its missing something....
imo u should have added a voyager style coffin thingy and secondary deflector

			-
That ship is one sexy beast.

			-
OMG... those ingame shots look absolutely fab DJ. This one has definitely been worth the wait!!
Just one question though - Doe's the Schumann have Aft Topedo launchers and if so can you please post a picture
Top job DJ... weldone

			-
				Maxloef is right!
The top of the saucer looks a bit bald...
but in the whole it?s really a beautie !!!

			-

I'd like to disagree with that as IMO it would detract from the more streamlined design of the ship.

			-
thanks for your compliments guys.  glad you like her.
the aft torpedoes are located above the saucer shuttlebay just behind Deck 1.  here's a pic.  to be honest, i don't really like the aft launcher very much, but i'm so far in that it would be way too much work to change.  there is also a photon torpedo launcher above the aft shuttlebay.
i should say that i have intetionally left areas for future expansion on this ship, including space for...
-a ventral saucer torp launcher like on the sov
-additional torp launchers on the secondary hull undercut
-a "turbocharger" on the fwd dorsal saucer
-other misc stuff

			-
wow!  she's a real beaut!
(and that's the understatement of the decade)

			-
				You have pm
And shes looking amazing, excellent work this should easily get file of the week award on BCfiles.

Best ship design of 2006 at BCfiles more likely

Best ship design of 2006 at BCfiles more likely
I have to agree on that one, I would go for most original, you've used elements of alot of ships and made one which looks amazing yet Star Trek like, the last time i saw something like that was with the USS Mantis and USS Courageous.

			-
Oo what does the bumper sticker say :P
Will this come wih a blank registry or is the hull simple enough to paint over the registry?

			-
Adding a 2nd deflector on the saucer (like Intrepid Class) and a quantum launcher, would work if you would like to make a war-variant of her ;)

Perhaps also adding some of that hull armor the war sovereign archangel got on the hull would look awesome.
To be honest I think I will spend the first few hours just admiring the quality of that texturing.

			-
thanks guys, I have to admit that i never did like the secondary deflector on voyager, seemed out of place to me.
I'm pretty well done the HP, save for setting up blinking lights.  I've also made the third ship of the pack, the USS Chopin.  I'll also be doing up an NX version, the USS Vivace.  There will be some minor HP differences between the three, as well as some texturing changes, nothing major.

Need any beta testers *hint hint*

			-
actually, i test pretty much everything everytime i make a change, so beta testing is really not necessary.  thanks for the offer tho.  don't worry though, you guys will have these pretty soon.

Can live in hope.
I so cannot wait for this ship.  More screenies :D

here are some pix of the Chopin and the Vivace.  Vivace is the protoype and has an NX registry.
There are some minor cosmetic differences between them and Schumann.  Vivace has a more plain, grey deflector as well as slightly more blue nacelle grills, as well as additional registries and some pennant colour changes.  it also has blue impulse engines which i think are kinda cool.  Chopin has a lighter color of nacelle grill and reg changes from Schumann, as well as some different color panelling on the nacelle pylons.  I didn't want it to be too different, after all, they are production models.
As far as HP goes, Vivace will be the weakest and equiped with photons instead of quantum torpedoes.  Vivace will also have a slight deficit in power generation, just to make it more realistic for a prototype.  Chopin will be just slightly faster and more manueverable than Schumann, but not by much.
There will be other things, but I'll go into detail when it's finished.  enjoy! :D

			-
I agree blue impulse engines are cool, very 24th century in style.
Still looking damn good, and with that coffin style thing missing from the dorsal section I think is a major cosmetic improvement.

			-
These are looking excellent. Can't wait to add them.

			-
Is that a different Deflector Colour use the for Vivace, it looks very good. I like it even more than Schumann's Deflector!!.
I also like the Blue Impulse Engines on the NX Vivace, very canon to keep the Prototype's Engines Blue!!.  :D

			-
I am curious what are blue impulse engines? some form of lower powered reactor or a experimental new form of impulse drive they test on prototype ships?

			-
Looks VERY Sexy Curtis, will download once I get a new computer *mumbles something about his computer crashing recently*
Roger
P.S. for those wondering why I wouldn't just fix it, I'm only getting a new computer because I can get one on the cheap, cheaper than fixing it LOL On top of the fact that my computer is seriously outdated :S

Good Question!?,
As far as I'm aware, they are the same as regular Red/Orange Impulse Engines. However certain prototypes and ships in the Star Trek Universe have been known to have Blue Impulse Engines, The Prometheus, Enterprise NX-01 and the Enterprise-C are good examples.

			-
Always wondered why? perhaps they are easier to use and draw less power than conventional engines, perhaps they require less power to operate and also less time to install, with prototypes you want parts to interchange very quickly in spacedock.
I think blue looks more cool though :D

			-
Or perhaps someone just liked the colour of a blue impulse engine.

			-

Or perhaps someone just liked the colour of a blue impulse engine.
i'd say that about covers it.

			-
Hey I like them, in fact I love them, just curious if starfleet had a method for using them only on prototypes.

			-
It will we a pity to damage her face with a bunch of torpedoes, really oustanding job DJ!
Vivace...,Schumann,....Chopin,.... do you like classic music DJ?

			-

Making science fiction reality is reall wierd so lets not think about it lol
Anyway, lovely ship, cant wait to make some screenshots with it

			-
I love it, a nice progression from the intrepid class.

			-
				just a brief update...
I've redone about half of the phaser arcs.  I really wasn't happy with them before, especially with the lateral and aft coverage, but I think I've got the bugs worked out.
I've also added photon torpedoes to the aft launcher, as well as increased the rate of fire of the for and aft quantum launchers by about 30%.  The ship will fire two quantums in either direction every four seconds, no rapid fire launchers like on Supremus.

			-
as in the reload time is 4 seconds? it's usually 20~30

			-
awesome work curtis, you dont need us to tell you that :P

			-
DJ...a few questions....the Quantum launchers are the tri-angle type pieces on the saucer similar to the what the Defiant has correct?...so will that be 2 or 4 quantums fired at a time? also...this ship is absolutely amazing and would be awesome if it were in Star Trek Armada. I would like to ask your permission to port this fine vessel over to A2...with full credits given naturally.....also..whats your MSN? as when i try to enter what it says on BCCentral..MSN doesnt let me.. thanx a lot

			-
as for the torpedo launchers, visually yes, they are similar to the defiant, but they are not really high capacity launchers, these aren't warships.  the launchers will each fire one torpedo every four seconds.  I might increase that if people really want me to.
as far as porting goes, I won't give an answer on that right now.  First I'd like to see how things pan out for BC, and if things go well, then I actually have someone who already ports my ships.  Thanks for offering though.  I have no problem however, with you porting the ship for your own personal use, that's no problem at all.

			-
Great! You made my day.. I prolly would've ported it for myself anyways..for my own personal use...but i would prefer permission before i did so..thanx man...So we wont be wiping out any borg cubes with badboy eh?
as for phaser arrays...what type are you thinking? the standard Type 10? or more advanced Type 12 like whats on the Sovereign Class?

			-
I'm not sure I could say what "type" they are, because that would just be hypothetical fan fic.
But to be more specific, the main phasers on the SNS Galaxy have a strength of 1400.  The Vivace class will have the same phasers as the Supremus with a maximum strength of 2500.  So the phasers themselves have quite a bit more punch to them.  That being said, the max charge of the phaser banks on the SNS Galaxy is 1.5, whereas those on Supremus and Vivace have a max charge of 1.  All three ships share the same discharge rate.  So really, if the SNS Galaxy had the same charge characteristics of my ships, it's strength would be equivilant to 2100.
So to sum it up, the phasers on Vivace are definitly more powerful than a Galaxy class, but I also envision that the Vivace and its sister ships are commissioned in the late 2380's, a full 30 years after Galaxy Class starships hit the scene.

			-
So we are roughly looking at Type 12 Phasers....okay...i guess the time is right to make the Type 12s main stream or the new standard.

			-

Depends on the era of ship your making.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say that.  After all, there's never, to my knowledge, been any canon description of just what a type XII phaser really is, and how powerful it is in relation to others.
Remember too that during TNG, the Enteprise received several upgrades to her phasers, but they were always type X.
I guess what I'm saying is that I have no idea what kind of phasers are on my ship.  All I know is that they shoot and blow stuff up. :D

			-
That is true....I guess we could say these are the final versions of the Type X phaser....all depends I guess....

			-
or Type XI Phasers. I'd have to see the damage for the most canon Sovereign for BC.

			-
				I'll clarfiy myself.
I'd rather not say that it has a "type" of phasers, because all this stuff is totally arbitrary.  8)

			-
				Update...
Ship TGL is finished as well as its game icon.  I've messed with the HP some more and pretty well nailed it.  i realized that I had reversed the port and starboard phasers on the ventral side of the saucer, so that had to be fixed.  I still have to add running and blinking lights as well as adjust the HP's of the Vivace and Chopin.
Here's a pic with the finished TGL and Icon showing.
Provided nothing gets in the way, Schumann and its sister ships should be available for DL on BCFiles on Sunday.

			-
I can be first to say
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!
*sits down again with coffee and looks forward to release*

			-
Wow that is absolutely beautiful, stunning and awesome all in one neat little package well maybe not little.

			-
Fantastic work Curtis!!! can wait to download it !! i think you really did an incredible job !! keep it up !!

			-
Great news DJ,  you've done an excellent job once again :)

			-
Amazing work you have done here DJ!!!
I am a fan of the Intrepid class, and this is an excelent version of it's "sister ship"!
Can't wait to take her out for a spin  8)
P.S. Could you in any chance include BLANK textures (with no registry markings) in the pack, that would be most excelent :)

			-
I'll definitly do that for you guys.

			-

I'll definitly do that for you guys.
That's great, thanx man :D
*sits tightly and awaits the ship*

			-
clears a docking port :D cannot wait for this little baby.

			-
will you add any armor tech to it? like ablative armor or something?
it should have, since it is kinda Intrepid refit

			-
no armour.  It's not an intrepid refit, it is a totally new class of starship, i've just designed it, like all my ships, to follow what i think is a logical progression in starship design.

			-
amazing job, Curtis!!  well done indeed!  :)

Thats how i try to work mate, great minds think alike lol, great job by the way i love this ship.

			-
Hey DJ, did you want this ship ported to SFC?

			-
i like this design its  different and looks like it could be a canon ship hope
to see more of it.

			-
Everything is pretty well done for this mod, and it should be available for DL at BCFiles in the morning.

			-
 wow, those screenshots do not do it justice, the quality of that ship puts half the ships on BCfiles to shame.
(mantis still rules though :D )

			-
She is a one hell of a nice looking ship, plays well to,  great job.

Agreed amazing work I find myself stopping hitting f2 and ooglying the detail :D
The attention to detail is amazing, whats next seeing people in the mess hall moving around?

			-
O.O Great Job Curtis!!!!! Just Incredible

			-
Got my download!!, great job DJ, the ship looks stunning ingame and fights well too!!. The Phasers are a bit strange though!?, but nothing major...
Great Job, voted 9/10 at BCFiles.  :D

			-
thanks guys, i'm glad you're enjoying it.  I'll fix the phasers at some point.

			-
She's been well worth the wait DJ, thanks for such an awsome ship!

			-
				you're most welcome!  :D

			-
This ship is awesome I am so glad you finally released it,I have been waiting so long.
as far as blue impulse goes, blue is a hotter color then red so maybe they are over powered.

			-
This is one fine ship and I'm glad I've added it to my game congrats on all of your work.

			-
wow, the ships been out for about 14 hours and has already passed the 400 downloads mark.
that's almost 30 downloads per hour. :D
i'd advise you all to check back here at BCC or to BCU later today for a little treat. :D

			-
				Seriously, great ship!
G.

			-
very, very, very nice work sir!!

			-
Curtis, this is by far probably one of the best ships Ive ever flown. This is excellent work.

			-
Beautiful work mate, altho the scalling seems to be off she's roughly the size of the Sov...oh, and I made USS Strauss BTW ;) I'll post pix when I'm done with the changes completely if ya wanna see.

			-
				Definitely!  Let's see pix! :)

			-

Definitely!  Let's see pix! :)
Ok, here's the USS Strauss, note that I've only changed the buzzards and the plasma coil textures, and added specular maps (something you seem to forget on a regular basis for your ships lol). Oh, and I always do regs for my personal ships in white with black outlines like this lol

			-
neat!  i like how you added regs to the tops of the nacelles.

			-
Extra reg's I like but the nacelles buzzard collectors I don't neither do I go for the thrusters on the saucer section.

			-
Nice. I like the Leopard Print Bussards on it.

			-

Extra reg's I like but the nacelles buzzard collectors I don't neither do I go for the thrusters on the saucer section.
The saucer thrusters coloring is a specular effect, not real coloring. The only things I touched are the buzzards and plasma grilles.

Ahhhh my bad :D

			-
I'd just like to say thanks to everybody.  The mod has reached 500 downloads only 21 hours from its release.  I'm pretty stunned by this, I was not expecting that big of a response.  I've gotta say I'm really pleased.

			-
Amazing work without doubt one of the most detailed ships ever made for BC :D
