Ok heres the deal UFP Catalyst and I are trying to edit some weapon sound from nemesis problem is some of the music is near or at the same pitch as the sound of the phasers and torps we are using adobe audition V3. Does anyone know of a better sound editing program that has as Catalyst put it unbelievably advanced pattern recognition abilities?? All comments welcomed

				Yep. I'm Catalyst. :)

I have Star Trek: Nemesis on my laptop, and imported the sound from it into Audacity. It worked well until we had to get the sounds for the torpedoes and phasers. Every time a phaser was fired, or torpedo launched, there would be a trumpet or other instrument playing loudly at the same time. Audacity done nothing, so me and Dawg moved on to find new and more powerful programs. Audition has a good reputation from the looks of things, so are there any custom plug-ins we require or is the program just not going to be able to help?

 Thank you in advance. :)

Ooo, I might as well as give it a try as well.  I know that Adobe Audition can select a sound range and null everything else out.  I can't remember how to do that at the top of my head but it is possible.  If I am able to do that, then I'll share for the price of 2 bars of gold pressed latinum. :D

				*Bump*

Well we've not been getting much further with the phaser sound. So we have two main options I think, we can either find a way to get rid of the music in the sound file, or find another source to get the phaser. (I am recording from the film itself, but I think that could be one of the reasons we're having so much trouble.)

Again, any help would be appreciated.

One possibility is to add a second track of the music (from the soundtrack) and invert the phase 180?. Then, when you combine the tracks, the music should cancel out and you should be left with only the sound you want. Keep in mind that all of my sound engineering experience is from live engineering, not recording.

Depending on what you're using, it may have a subract function. In which case, you can get rid of the music in a similar to Kirks idea.

The sounds of the quantum torpedo and the torpedo are much similar! This is what they are successful to extrapolate!
For the torpedo and the distruptor of the shimitar enough to watch in the sounds of legacy! they are a lot much similar!!

 Thank's for Cookie :)

If they can help you I have also other sound effects! An example: NX-01 door and bridge-Tmp st1 enterprise bridge, door and warp acceleration (from director' s edition) - st2 reliant bridge and phaser cannons, enterprise phaser(yes it's different). I have always used them for personal use but I could create a sound pack to post on bcfiles!
