I've been looking, hoping to find more simple solutions into replacing the stock Federation ships in the single player campaign and..well after an extensive search of the BCfiles I found models that actually replaces the stock Starfleet vessels(I thought it would actually save me the trouble of editing every .py files in the maelstrom folder). I started out replacing the Sovereign class(U.S.S. Sovereign)with CG's Sovereign model, plugged in all the necessary files and tested the ship in quick battle mode and it works great so I went ahead and started the single player campaign from the begining and played all the way through until I reached the part where the crew of the U.S.S. Dauntless is transfered to the U.S.S. Sovereign....after the cinimatic clip ended, I gave orders to undock the ship, the player view switches to the view of the inside of the U.S.S. Sovereign bridge, from the bridge view screen I notice the ship actually leaving the base but then thats it.. :arms:....I sit there waiting and nothing happens(it's not switching over to where I can actually warp so the shake down can begin)none of the control function works and I seem to be stuck there. Has anyone ever encountered this problem before with CG's Sovereign ship in the single player campaign?
I also tried to implement Scotchy's Galaxy class as it also says in the read me file that it will replace the stock version(I thought also was an answer to my prayers)but I can't seem to get the single player campaign working. Everytime I try to start a fresh new game, after the loading screen everything turns black. I tested this ship in quick battles and it works(along with it's other counter parts). I noticed that files that came with this mod is a bit more complicated than CG's mod where all it has are files pertaining to the ship, with Scotchy's Galaxy class it appears to include his own maelstrom folder and other files that I'm not familiar with but I placed all these files in their correct corresponding folders in my BC main directory though....I don't get it, why wont the single player campaign work? Please can anyone help me sort these two problems out?
-
Use this (http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/BC_Supermod_3;89270), no?
-
.....oh man!(talk about the right stuff)..CG's Sovereign!?....SNS Galaxy?! This mod is exactly what I need! Yeah thanks allot faro0485, thanks a great bunch.
-
Okay you know what..a second thought, this mod is not really working out for me. After installing it, I went and tried to play the single player campaign from the begining and the Galaxy's textures are coming out wrong(old Dauntless shared registry texture superimposed on the new model streched out and warped, no deflector dish texture, parts of the nacelles textures on the top and bottom are missing)and to top it all off, after reading all the comments on this mod on the download page, it looks like the hardpoint balancing for all the ships is thrown out of whack!. I don't even want to get into this seeing as how I already have a problem of my own that I'm seeking help for.
I figured out by the way what's getting me stuck everytime I undock for the shakedown cruise using the U.S.S. Sovereign, It's the starbase 12 mod(version 2.0)I installed to replace the stock one from Zorg/Morpheus. Backtracking what I did to my BC installment, I noticed that only when I not use this mod do I not get that glitch. However is there anyone out there who had a similar problem or know how to fix Scotchy's galaxy ship so that it can be used in the single player campaign? What I have(and the only ones I have installed now)in my intallment of BC is exactly what is required to run this mod so why does the screen keep turning black whenever the splash screen finishes loading?....please anyone?
-
Yeah, start the Scotchies Maelstrom campaign from the Custom Missions screen (same screen where you start QB).
I didn't write it for nothing you know. ;)
-
I'm sorry MLeo but I'm not seeing any Custom Missions screen on my end..:(....
..I've activated the mutators for Scotchy's Galaxy as well as your Skinning And Damaging Tool which popped up on the menu right after I installed this mod...
.....is there something I'm missing here or doing wrong? Please help.
-
You have to start BC in test mode, and click where the "quickbattle" menu is, it'll be on the bottom.
-
It might already be under Quick Battle.
I always run under -TestMode, which enables, among others, the console (I'm primairly a scripter, so without the console I'm practically dead in the water), in that case it's Custom Missions, I think.
-
Forgive me but I'm still somewhat new to BC modding and I just don't know how to start Bridge Commander in test mode..can anyone please tell me how?
-
Read the stickies.
-
Right, okay I think I got it(used the create a short cut method)to get the test mode up and running. On Scotchy's Maelstrom I jumped ahead and played the mission where I go help the Geki colony but the ships textures are coming out like this.........
....the ship is also not showing any textures for the deflector dish, can anyone please tell me what I can do to fix this?
-
...this is how the ship looks like in quick battle(testmode).......
..is there some texture files that I'm supposed to delete or something? Please anyone?
-
Odd... I've never had any issues like THAT before and i'm running a thousand mods [exaggeration, but still not too far off... :P] If all else fails here, you could try a clean install and check out this lil' guy, here: BC Supermod 3.0 (http://bc-central.net/forums/index.php/topic,3211.0.html)
:3
-
You know what, now that you mentioned it I had the exact same problem with the textures when I went and installed that mod for the first time. I later found out that I was actually supposed to manually delete certain folders located throughout the main directory, once I did that and reinstalled the mod the ship came out looking like what it was supposed to.....too bad I can't do the same with Scotchy's ship here.
-

if you reread the previous posts, youll see that was already suggested and tried ;) :P
-
Yeah that mod would be a quick fix but I just don't feel like going through every single ship's hardpoint file all over again and adjust their shields and weapons strenght, not when I already have a hardpoint folder here pretty much balanced out to my liking.
Can anyone please help me out here? I just downloaded another copy of Scotchy's Galaxy RAR file and tried to install that one but the result is actually even worse..now I can't even play any of the missions(the game crashes right after the loading screen). Would it help to know that everytime I install this a prompt pops up saying that Scotchy's Galaxy(1.0) is already installed and asks me if I want to uninstall it(even though the BC install don't even have so much as a remnant of the ship yet)now I just click no continue but in some instances I click yes to uninstall it and an error pops up saying it's unable to(or something like that). What am I doing wrong?
-
... I just don't feel like going through every single ship's hardpoint file all over again and adjust their shields and weapons strenght, not when I already have a hardpoint folder here pretty much balanced out to my liking.
You could try it for... how many ships hardpoints?
-
Don't try to go and alter every hardpoint.
This is a known problem people!
In this case, it's a problem with a stock file, namely: Data/Models/SharedTextures/FedShips/Dauntless.tga
Rename the file to something else, I suggest: DauntlessDISABLED.tga
-
Okay I'm begining to get brain-washed now seeing this so much....
...MLeo I would love to try out your solution but I can't seem to now get passed the loading screen :(. You see I used another copy of the exact same BC install and installed Scotchy's mod in the exact same manner as before, I don't get why now the game crashes whenever I try to load any of Scotchy's maelstrom missions. And I don't understand why I keep getting this promp everytime I try to reinstall Scotchy's Galaxy on a fresh new BC install despite having deleted the entire previous BC folder and uninstalling the mod in the Settings/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs..and yet I still get this....
..also tried restarting my PC after deleting and uninstalling everything and then installing this mod(same result). Any ideas anyone?
-
Okay I tried installing the BC super mod(3.0) for the heck of it again and everything works except for when I try to access the single player campaign(same thing happens now as with Scotchy's Galaxy mod, it crashes after the loading screen)so I'm now convinced that it's nothing to do with how I installed it or the mod copy itself but rather something elsewhere. Installing either mods the first time seems to work but after deleting them to save memory as the install is currently useless at the time not working right, only to install it again later on down the line and end up crashing everytime the loading finishes. Has anyone ever encountered this problem before? Please Anyone?
-
Are you sure you removed everything before you reinstalled?
-
Everytime I try over I delete the entire BC main directory folder(C:/Programs Files/Activision/Bridge Commander)and then I go to my Settings/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and uninstall Scotchy's Galaxy there too. As for the BC Supermod(3.0), I can only delete my BC folder as I can't find anything pertaining to that mod in my Add or Remove Programs section. These are the only two places I'm aware off where either mods are installed, is there something somewhere else I'm missing that could be causing these crashes?
-
one thing I only just noticed myself is that if you have multiple installs on the same partition the batch file will remove all the files from the primary install and not the one you placed it in, thus rendering both broken, if that is the case you'll need to reinstall again (to replace the missing files) then manually remove them from the proper folder
-
Oh no! So the batch file could(has) removed not only files from my copied BC install in my C:/Programs Files/Activision/Bridge Commander(where the batch file is installed in) but also from my primary installs that's sitting in a folder located on my desk top? Come on ACES_HIGH, I know my days lately trying to mod my BC game hasn't been that great but are you saying it's this bad :(. Please tell me I interpreted your post wrong(I'm about to break down and cry), cause I'm not all that clear on what you mean by ..if you have multiple installs on the same partition....
-
Here's the deal: CR's Supermod batch file is pointed to the auto location (C:\Program Files\Activision\Bridge Commander) so regardless of where you dropped the batch file or where you made your supermod install, it will delete the files from the aforementioned directory (if you do not have that directory, an error window will pop up.) It _will not_ delete file from any other area.
So, any install _not_ there _is_ safe.
(I stole MLeo's form of emphasis :P)
-
OMG thank you, you just saved me a whole bus load of hurt. Sadly though I'm afraid I'm still stuck in square one.
Can anyone please help me out here?
-
I think we need to synchronized the information here.
Can you clearly describe the current problem you are now having?
(I stole MLeo's form of emphasis :P)
It's actually a common, and entirely acceptable way of adding emphasis on the internet, especially in e-mails without HTML capabilities (or SMS text messages).
-
I'm trying to install Scotchy's Galaxy mod. I have done so several days ago(with none of this glitch I'm having now)but with texture problems. You(MLeo) suggested.....
It's a problem with a stock file, namely: Data/Models/SharedTextures/FedShips/Dauntless.tga
Rename the file to something else, I suggest: DauntlessDISABLED.tga
..but the thing is I since then deleted that install(the entire BC folder at C:/Programs Files/Activision/Bridge Commander and then uninstalled it at settings/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs)before I got this post. I've made another copy of my primary BC install and been trying to reinstall Scotchy's Galaxy mod but no matter how many times I try, I can't seem to now access the single player campaign in testmode..the game keeps crashing to the desktop after the loading screen(everytime and this is like my fourth time trying now)even without changing the stock Dauntless shared texture. The odd thing is that when I installed the BC supermod(3.0)the first time it also worked but with the same texture problems with the Galaxy class, I've also deleted that entire BC install several days ago but now that I try to install it again on a fresh new copy of my primary BC install, it crashes the same way after I try to access any of the missions in single player campaign(regular mode since I didn't know or used BC test mode the first time)...can anyone please help me?
-
Okay I finaly figured out why the game keeps crashing on me whenever I decide to use Scotchy's galaxy for the single player campaign(neglected to turn off all the mutators beforehand)but I'm still faced with this missing texture issue....
..Mleo, I know you suggested that I rename the shared Dauntless texture but that didn't work(even tried deleting that entire texture as well as the med and low counterparts...same result). I don't understand, when I plug this ship in for quick battles the textures for the U.S.S. Dauntless all come out normal(but of course I have to turn all the mutators back on). Please, do you or anyone else out there have any other suggestions regarding this missing texture problem on Scotchy's galaxy?
-
Now, in this case, it would appear it can't find the textures in the first place.
Seems you also deleted the default texture.
-
....but MLeo all I deleted was the old Dauntless.tga(high, med, and low)shared textures, left all the other files alone(just those three). Tried turning just the Scothcy's galaxy mutator back on and went for the very first mission but resulted in another crash :(.
-
Did you delete "Ent-D_topdish_ID_glow.tga"?
-
No but because I'm completely out of options here I did went ahead and tried deleting that along with several other Ent-D related old texture files but....
......same result(even in test mode). I'm begining to think now that this may not be a texture related isssue at all but more of a script problem somewhere. Is there maybe a file located alse where in charge of importing the U.S.S. Dauntless registered SNS_Galaxy for the single player campaign in much the same manner as how you can select the U.S.S. Dauntless specificly in quick battles as one of the Galaxy sub menu?
-
Having screwed up the BC install that I was using from trying anorthadox methods of fixing this problem, I ended up deleting that entire BC folder. I of course made another copy of my primary Nano FX BC install and again installed Scotchy's Galaxy class unto it. With nothing to loose and knowing now what I didn't know then(about turning off the mutators)I decided to pay another visit to the standard(no test mode)single player campaign, turned off all the mutators and loaded my saved episode 2(mission 3)and guess what..I had that crooked textures on the Dauntless again(similar to the very first time I had this texture problem)so automatically MLeo's advise kicked in about the Dauntless shared textures and so I went over and deleted it. loaded the mission again and I was presented with an actuall glowing deflector dish and textures for the top part of the naccelles(finaly!)however there was no U.S.S. Dauntless registry, just the textured saucer section so having remembered an ID shared texture for the ship with no registry from when I was pouring through all this mods textures, I decided to replace it with the Dauntless ID texture......
...worked like a charm! Woohooo!!Finaly got to replace all these stock ships with high quality ones....YEEEEEAAAA!!!!Thanks allot you guys for trying to help out, I really really appreciate it.
