...It won't let me choose how many slices/stacks I want on my cylinders and such, had to be done manually. Manually, I ain't got time for that rubbish. Anyway, I was just playing around as I don't have my Avalon stuff handy, my USB stick is buggered, so I can't carry it around anymore. Oh, and I don't have Milkshape handy either! But whatever. Take a look, and be thankful you have whatever other program you're using.

This goes here, because I couldn't possibly top the Defiants we have already. I'm going off screencaps of the studio model (The CGI one is just hideous, come on.), instead of going from blueprints, which would be wise but...  :arms:

Lightwave is not for beginners, at least, not for people who never drawed in 3D.
have you tried Blender? is more powerful than what it seems, and free  8)

and the blueprints, you can get some here. not blueprints, sort of schematics, but they serve the purpose.

 http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/blueprints-main2.php

and you have www.startrekblueprints.com but it's under construction.

Lightwave's only problem (To me) is the inability to choose stacks/slices by whim (Plus only having LW7, instead of 8 or something), I've got the Cygnus stuff, but I dunno, the hard way was there, I had the episodes, screencaps and such..

What do you mean? Are you talking about the number of segments in the circular polygon and the number of segments that make up the straight sides? I assume "yes" as that's the only properties you can really apply to cylinder primatives, stacks mean something else in Max.

In that case, you need to bring up the numeric tab with "n" and you can enter the values you want. Unless you're complaining that this is "manual", computers aren't psychic and can't create primatives with the exact parameters you want without you telling them first.

the arrow keys (up, down, left, right) can also add or subtract the amount of slices and segments, just make sure the blue box is stil around the primitive you are creating
