I've never been happy with any of the Constitution Class ships in BC. Just never worked for me. I've found the meshes to be pretty old now, and the textures usually pretty low res, so, only one solution...
To recreate the classic! :D
I built this ship in about 8 hours. It's about as close to canon as I can get it, though I know the shuttlebay and nacelle "ears" need some work. It's currently 16518 polygons, which seem plenty to have it look very smooth, with zero errors. It's not finished yet, and after I optimize it and add the details I want, I expect a poly count in around 15k-17k. I don't know when I'll get to texturing at this point, but I'm basically putting this on my do to list... and high up.
-
I think when I say this, it's the shared opinion of everyone who'll post after me. I am glad to see a ship such detailed as this Constitution Class, and i cannot wait to see it's release. Oh yeah, and I know how you love to do several versions of ships, so I expect to see a Cage Version and Normal TV Versions right?
-
Wether he does the other versions or not, i'll be looking forward to this one. :P
-
I think I have been wanting a highly detailed TOS Enterprise for as long as I've played BC...and I'm increcigly excited that it's the one and only DJ that is taking it on.
-
What can I say...
Pretty much perfect model.
Once again, thank you.
-
SWEET!
*finally* we have a new high-quality connie!
-
Why do you do this to me DJ? I had just installed Phaser's TCMP 1.0 and then you suddenly come along with the ultimate TOS Constiution, making the retextured TCMP connies redundent.
Hate you.
JOKE!
:D
I can't wait to beta test this. *hint**hint*
-
Nice. Dude, for the other onscreen versions, just catch me on msn and I'll show you the differences (they're minor really).
-
Ooooooo. Pretty.
-
wow DJ Im blown away by this she looks great whats the poly count on her and if i may ask would u be willing to do a TMP connie???
-
Nice ship you got there, DJ.
-
Yes! That's gorgeous DJ!
-
I don't know what it is about the original connie, given it's relative crudeness when compared to newer ships, but there is something beautiful about it I think.
9th--> The poly count is in the original post.

Damn you for making me wet my pants!

Meh. He's more compliant to my demands when he's fed.
.... though he still refuses to model a wang spaceship for me.

FOR SHAME!
A game is still only a game without a WANG mod! But WITH a wang mod... it becomes so very much more...
Lawl.
I totally agree, though, that a TMP Enterprise would be awesome to see one day as well [no rush or request; just got my imagination going is all. :P]
I like this, though... so smooth...
-
I agree...a TMP Connie from DJ would be awesome as well!!! Keep it up bro!

Hopefully he may take it up(crosses fingers) as for now lets watch him work his magic on the original classic
-
Looks great DJ, would be nice to see different versions of it... (*Crosses fingers and clamps eyes shut* Phase II... Phase II)
Anyway, looks good, brilliant even, you do realise that if this ends up as good as it looks...
People will want a lot more :P
-
I have installed and played every version of the TOS constitution to date and I have to say that the idea of DJ creating one is very exciting.
Looking at his past work as a reference, I am sure that we can expect a very solid and well built ship that performs well and also has no model errors (a problem is almost all other TMP and TOS ships in BC have).
I really can't wait for this.
Are you going to do a clean version or is this one going to be a bit weathered like the one in the remastered TOS?
Mike
-
She looks fantastic! I agree with MajorMagna in that I'd like to see some different versions, but not different models, simply alternate textures. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an NX styled hull, more of a dark metal with the aztecing.
-
You can almost hear the opening chords of the TOS theme when you enlarge the pictures.

can he at least finish this one first? lol :P

well, I've done some calculations: The average turnaround time for one of my mods from first appearance to release is 9 months. It's like I'm pregnant and giving birth to ships.

Hmmm, wonder what your wife thinks of that? :P
-
*throws up hands* I dunno about any of that, but It's not MY fault he's preggers!
-
I can't wait to see the textures...if they are anything like his other ships than we are in for a high detail treat like no other.
I wonder if he has a refit in mind for the future....

Big hips... :arms:

Well, thats 10 times better than my turn around lol.

Sounds like an equal relationship ;) Good things simply need time...

LOL...that brings up images of a scene from "Gone with the Wind"... "Lawdy..I ain't birth'n no bebies"!!! hahaha!
Fantastic work on the Enterprise DJ! As always you step it up a notch everytime you model a new one!!
:) :dance
-
Never expected DJ to the model the Connie, keep going! :D
-
Its looking nice DJ, good start mate.
-
I wet my pants everytime I look at this lol  And DJ? Preggers? I think Aeries is in denial :P
-
Does anyone have any VERY detailed and accurate schematics of the Constitution refit that are in scale for each view? Perhaps from the actual plans book? Most of the stuff out on the net is just re-draws that appear to be inaccurate and pretty sloppy to be honest.
-
If someone has a copy of Mr Scotts guide laying around could scan them in for you. If I remember correctly it has front, back, top, bottom and side views all 1:1 scale with each other and I would imagine they came from the studio.

The wife is happy so long as she's not renting her womb anymore. This womb is off limits. The husband can propagate the species with his b@st@rd ship offspring all he likes so long as it's not from this womb.

I got a copy of that book I will see if I can get the scanner running in a few to get some pics of it.
*Edit*
No Joy there my scanner isnt working right I will be working on it later today see if I can get it working.
-
I believe that if you have the ST: Encyclopedia (the one with ST: Insurrection bits in), at the back there are scaled drawing of most ship in Trek.
-
DJ, Does this mean that you are gearing up to make a refit version also?
This just keeps getting more exciting by the minute.
Mike

:angel
-
Well, not so subtle there DJ :angel
-
Subtlety has never been my strong suit.
-
guess I'll retire mine before I go any further lol, well at least you'll have a bridge for it.
-
Don't bother. Mine may not be quite what you're expecting.
-
hmm?? a TMP TOS hybrid?
-
Don't bother. Mine may not be quite what you're expecting.
Does that mean you'll be adding some creative license to her like you did with the Ambassador's new aztek pattern? Because it worked wonders for the Ambassador :D. Of course, didn't they add an aztek pattern to the original Constitution class in newer shows like DS9 and Enterprise?
-
*shakes present* hmmm I wonder what it could be?? :P
-
Well this is a surprise. DJ made this thread almost exactly 2 years ago, and the thread has been dormant for a long time since. And now with the hint of an upcoming present to the community? Hmm...
*Spock's voice* Fascinating :D
-
DJPrise!!
Nice wrapping. :p
-
I wonder how this enterprise will compare to mine. I'm looking forward to see it.

*red alert noises come from inside the box and a Scottish voice shouts out "She cannae take much more o' this cap'n!"* :P

Im going to take a few guesses as to which one he could be working on.
This could be made into an E. http://www.madshipyard.com/wallpaper_metaluna.htm
This could definitly be a possibility. http://www.madshipyard.com/images/Wallpaper/WarpSpeed_1680.jpg
Both of those have max versions so they can be studied further.
Also, there is MadKoiFish's and Vektor's versions.
And there is the battleship E. http://trekmovie.com/wp-content/uploads/TrekXI-Ent1.jpg
Could be one of these(below the JJPrise). http://brstarship.wordpress.com/2009/10/14/star-trek-enterprise-reimagined/
http://brstarship.wordpress.com/2009/12/02/star-trek-enterprise-reimagined-take-2/

http://brstarship.wordpress.com/2010/05/17/star-trek-enterprise-reimagined-take-4/
Or is it this one? http://evilgenius180.wordpress.com/2009/08/22/wip-alternate-reality-enterprise/
Or Ryan Church's early version of the JJPrise? http://www.ryanchurch.com/images/startrek11/04PRO_StarTrek11.htm
It could also be the NX-1701-A too. http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/uss-enterprise-nx-1701-a.php
-
Looking forward to seeing how your version turns out.
-
I'm almost thinking this topic belongs in a different forum...
-
Im going to take a few guesses as to which one he could be working on....
Wow! Can you say "Wild Speculation"? :p
That took some serious research! Very entertaining post! Quite a few designs I didn't know about, ranging from the bizarre to the sublime.
Vektor's version has always been my favourite. I try to close my eyes and imagine how much more homely the movie would have been with that design!
-
Yeah, I'm afraid I'm not quite as imaginative as those, so I'm just going to put up some pictures. :funny
Nihilus is probably closest. Basically going artistic license with the skin. Still not finished, and I've got plenty of details left to add, but here it is at the moment.
Since so many have already been released, I figured I give mine something a little different.
-
Interesting. I'm kind of in the middle on this one. But I can see where you are going with this one. Let the variants/interpretations commence!
-
ooh! i think a TNG refit, based on this, would look sweet :D
-
Looking good as always DJ. Any plans to add aft Phasers/Torpedo launchers? I was reading earlier that on Enterprise, the Defiant was supposed to launch Torpedoes from somewhere around her Impulse Engines but someone down the line didn't get the memo and they ended up firing them from the Phaser turret above the shuttle bay. I was just wondering what your ideas were for your interpretation.
-
Nihilus where are you getting that info... cause non of it is right.

http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/USS_Defiant_(NCC-1764) (http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/USS_Defiant_(NCC-1764))
According to Bonchune, the location of the aft torpedo launcher on the CGI model of the Defiant was "the little round port right between the impulses engines. We tried to make it logical with what existed so we didn't have to make a new hole on the ship. Everyone agreed, except that apparently if you frame by frame it, they actually come from the hangar bay phaser mounts. Someone in the chain ether decided against it or didn't know. Even one of the writers was surprised it hadn't been done as discussed."
-
Nice work on the textures
-
Nice work on the textures
Agreed, but, DJ, one little nitpick. The registry doesn't fit where it is right now..maybe lower it like on the TMP Enterprise. Oh, and you could do something similar to this (http://culttvman.com/main/?p=13508) with the registry. Just a suggestion, however you do it I'm sure you'll get like 6,000,000 downloads in one week (including mine) ;)
-
Oh thats interesting...me like.

What he said. As she stands though, it's a very nice Connie variant. Can't wait til Christmas! :D
-
Nice new makeup for the ole'girl. Looks great all around.
Thought you left out the inner working of the bussard collectors, but after a closer look, I see them now.
Should have known better, you wouldn't leave out that kind of detail. :D
-
DAMN!!! GREAT work, again, DJ!!!
-
kinda reminds me of the Potemkin 2290 refit from Ships of the Star Fleet
-
Bringing the tos ship more in line with the rest of the prime time line designs? I like!
-
heh. this is exactly what I was thinking. original body, but refit for the TNG and up era (i even started one to play with)
-
This could look SUPER with the deflector being backlit :P
-
I was thinking about doing that.
-
She looks clean and crisp, I like her.
-
I think this is as close as we're going to get to Deg's TOS .5 Connie for awhile... Can't wait for XMAS!!!
-
This looks really good. Is it me or does the hull registry seem too small in proportion to the ship? The textures are win but the size of the registry makes the saucer seem huge.

The saucer alone is as big as a Galaxy. lol :P

That's how big they say the JJ Enterprise is lol.

Errr, yeah. That was part of the joke. :P
