THE HAYDEN CLASS

Armed Scout/Destroyer

The Haydens, under the direct supervision of Starfleet Operations, usually venture off known shipping lanes
and tend to avoid making first contacts as much as possible (leaving that sort diplomatic tasks to a ships of the line).
Their sensor-packed pods are directly connected to the nacelles and as a result feed off of them, making them
very powerful. Hayden Class ships are heavily armed but if they ever find themselves in a fight their main rescue
is their sheer speed and manuverability.  Outside of the shipping lanes things can get a little rough, though,
especially when there are people operating there who don't want others to know what they're up to,
like the Pirate Cartels. To counter that threat, Haydens have the latest ablative armour generators installed,
deploying a 3cm thick shell when needed as well as multivectoral shielding; this has helped in more than one
occasion to get a Hayden out of trouble and back to the relative safety of a space station or friendly territory.
Data collection is the most important task these ships have and they are intended to return that precious data
back to the Federation.

It is rumored that Section 31 uses an adapted version of the Hayden, complete with a phased cloaking device, but this has not been confirmed."

Armament:

14 Heavy Phaser Arrays
6 Torpedo/Quantum tubes (3 Fwd, 3 Aft)
Ablative Armour
Multivectoral Shields

The NX Hayden is a bit slower and lacks multivectoral shields and no Phased Quantum Torpedoes.

The S31 Hayden, USS Shadow, has slightly stronger shields and ablative armour and is also equipped with
a Phased Cloak and Poleron torpedoes.

Nice design, make sure to credit him.

And also, maybe you should think about better texturing...  The window sizes really don't match up all that well.

It's certainly... interesting? heh. :P
Heya, are you planning to make the windows actually glow? They seem to all be off.

Nice design. Is it the lighting or are there some smoothing errors on the mesh?

Too bad that the link to the Hayden Class mod on BCFiles.com doesn't actually work.

Otherwise, its a unique ship and I can't wait to fly it around.

dang, how did you get this ship so fast? I have some images of the CGI from the st online forums but they closed down and I was never able to figure out where he went from there. I know he was receptive of having his ship ingame. Surprised to see it so quickly.

Hey guys!

cinqnic, I have replied to you about the ship, and I know that, judging from the looks of it, you've put a great deal of work in it. However, as I said in the mail, I'm not 100% happy with the way she turned out, and I would like to urge you to use the original model as a base to get some of the shapes right. Mail me back, and I will make sure you get it in almost any desired file format. Heck, I could even add the Type 12 shuttle if you want!

Anyway, let me know about it, because... well, you know, I'd like the community to have a high quality ship ;)

About the window sizes: this is a small ship. Very, VERY small. It has only six decks, so that's why the windows are so tall :) I modeled a lot about her, if there's any interest I can post some renders :)

I'll send you the newest ortho's in JPG by mail, as said if a 3D model would make it easier for you then just say which format you prefer. I work in SketchUp, but I can export to pretty much any file format :)

Could you look into the program for me and tell me which options it has of importing file formats? Natively, I can export to 3DS, FBX and OBJ, among others, and I know there are a lot of other programs around that makes ure I can export to an even broader range :)

You really can't go too wrong with a 3ds.

Hey Borgman,
I love this ship and worked with cinqnic to release this model to BC.  The original mesh would be great and the Type 12 to compliment her would also be great.  Did you ever come up with a concept for the Captain's Yacht?
Title: Re: Hayden Class Pack
Post by: BorgMan on March 11, 2009, 10:47:55 AM
Hey GMunoz!

To tell you the truth... I literally just (two hours ago) kicked the captain's yacht out of the model because it took up too much space that could be used for a lot of other stuff that is much more usefull than a captain's yacht. I am making small changes to the model to make it more visually appealing to the eye.

Do you want the model with an interior or without? I don't know how BC works exactly, just say so and I'll make sure you'll get a model that's ready for you guys to work with :)

Makes sense to eliminate the yacht.  BC does not handle interiors except for the bridge but the bridge has to be a seperate model from the ship.  Thanks for you help!, veel apprediated.

Hey, that looks suspiciously like Dutch ;)

A bridge model is availlable, though it's small and can just harbor three seated people and a few standing people. If needed, I will supply it as well :)

unfortunately, bridges are about a thousand times more difficult, time-consuming, and near-impossible to do as far as BC is concerned lol
Title: Re: Hayden Class Pack
Post by: BorgMan on March 11, 2009, 02:10:07 PM
Is it also hard to model with another model as a base?

Modeling the room is the easiest part... then you have texturing, scriping, animating, and many other things i'm sure that I'd have no real clue as to what i'm talking about. :S

aeries is right - after modeling there is soooo much more that goes into making a bridge for BC unfortunately...  it is definitely not user-friendly lol

Cool, when teh time is there I'll make sure you'll get the right file format. Right now I'm making sure that once you get the model, it's just an empty shell: right now that meant I got it cut down from 23.1 to 14 megs. The shuttlebay took up most of the filesize, as it was highly detailed, but the windows boxes make a difference as well...
