Hi all!  This is Ryan a.k.a. FarShot here to tell you that I'm finally making a ship!
 *crickets applaud*

The ship design started as a sketch.  It was originally a concept for a refit JJPrise.  Eventually it became an all era inclusive Connie, designed alongside the Ambassador class.  I'm thinking of 3 versions:
 1.  JJPrise refit
 2.  Early TNG / Co-development of the Ambassador project
 3.  Post-Nemesis "Revival Era" of Federation design

Here are some renders of a terrible concept mesh that I whipped up.  The quality may look good, but that is because it is composed of over 70,000 faces!    Obviously I'll have to tone that down quite a bit.

On a side note, I'm thinking of releasing this with CXP's KM Remastered.
-
At 70000 faces, should this not be considered more of a CGI model, and not so much a game model? All you have is a basic saucer, so if it continues at current rate, youre looking at a few hundred thousand polygons before it's done.

For the revival of the federation design, think of something along the lines of DJs ships, cause some features of his ships would look great on a connie.

-
It looks good for a start, but dude, 70000 is way to much just for a saucer.
I don't know wich program do you use or if you use mutators,
but possibly it will be very hard to reduce the polycount to an acceptable count.
Maybe it would be better to rebuilt the saucer and use less elements.

For a start keep an polycount of ~10k-15k for the hole ship in your mind.

I'm looking forward to see how you will manage the rest of the ship :)
-
				Okay, to clear it up:
the 70,000 part mesh I made is not the actual thing.  I made that so you could see what my idea looked like, not an actual working point.  I'm making another, more practical one.
-
Doublepost, but it's a major update.
Here are the sketches I made.  I didn't have a scanner, so I couldn't upload it.
That is until I realized I had a camera. Enjoy.

This is the JJPrise Refit version.

EDIT-By the way, I realize the proportions aren't right, as well as the shape of the secondary hull.  During the modelling phase, that'll be corrected.

EDIT 2-And the pylons will be straight.
-
The pylon design from the side view is very nice, although in the fore view, the curved look doesn't look right.  Just me personally.

 I like the neck design.
-
I really like those nacelles, can't wait to see them in 3d :D

-
Agreed, the nacelles are easily my favourite part of the ship, all in all a great vision.

-
That refit design is superb, notes of Koerner's Enterprise. Very nice.

-
				Nice sketch!

-
				Okay, started the model today.
Also decided on a name - Declaration class.  Similar to Constitution, but sounds more gung-ho. :P
 Here's what I've got:
-
not bad, although Declaration might be confused with Marks XCV Declaration pack, maybe you could use one of the sub classes from the SFTM

-
I know about the Declaration class, one more reason why I picked it.  It is a tribute to the ship class of old.
I'm going to stick with it.

Besides, I don't really like the ships in the SFTM. :P

It currently sits at about 3k faces, btw.
-
This looks like it's going to turn out to be a great ship.

-
very nice start, keep it up!

-
Nice start :) Keep your deck counts in check ;)

-
				looks promising so far :)

-
Definitely a great design for an Enterprise refit, but I'd keep the nacelle pylons curved. TOS Enterprise to Enterprise-A was straight to straight so why wouldn't the JJ-prise to JJ-prise-Refit be curved to curved? Seems the curves are directly related to the ship designs for the "new" universe as a whole in regards to the Constitution anyways.

 Just my 2 cents.  :D

Good point, it'll depend on how it looks either way.

Also, two new ship designs.  The Excelsior looking one is horribly out of proportion, but that's going to change.
The other is an Akira - Excelsior looking thing, with modules in mind.  The four module types are -
 -sensors
 -engines
 -weapons
 and -shields
-
Alright, more progress on the ingame model.  Sits at 8k polies.  Also here is a colored and stretched version of the sketch posted earlier, showing where I'm going with it.

(images uploaded...  pls upload images rather than hotlink to them...  thx)
-
Looks nice! The secondary hull looks a bit thin compared to the neck and saucer...

That's because I haven't put on the details yet.  There still is external plating and the deflector side thingies to put on.
-
not bad! I will definatly keep an eye on that, love that design :D

-
				oohh... that's awesome!
 have a cookie. ;)
-
looking Good. I like the one with more coloring, she could make a good terrin empire ship, Hint, Hint, Hint, Hint, Hint, Hint, Hint, any ideas yet?

-
wow farshot im loving this design

-
Reminds me of the Star Trek Online Constitution Remake...but Better...

-
Hmm, better than a design someone was paid to make...  I guess that's pretty good. 8)

-
Well, say this. People here put pride into their models, in game companies they just make them and could care less if people like them. :D

-
 im drooling. cant wait to see it finished!

-
Hmm...  I think I'm going to scrap this model.  Too many mesh errors, too hard to fix.  I need to find a good tutorial for the nacelles too.

Baz, if you read this thread, I need some help. :)
-
Alright, new nacelle design coming up.  Vote on the original or the new one.

Credits go to 9thDawg for lots of inspiration.
-
u know my vote lol cookie torp incoming

-
The original nacelle design is better IMHO.

-
...then why'd you vote for the new one?

-
...then why'd you vote for the new one?

 I haven't voted.
-
Oh, I assumed you did because before you posted, 4 people had voted.  After, 5 had.
 My bad, roflmao.
-
				Hmmm, I can't choose, they're both awesome.

-
Well pick so I can get an idea lol.
 psst, pick the new one!
-
Well, having to choose, I choose the new one. :P

-
the new one. the original one just looks.. flimsy.

-
I like the new one. looks like a updated Connie Nacelle.

-
tbh, i like them both, hard decision...
on a side note: I really like your sketches :D Have a cookie for those!
-
It seems most of us are in favor of the new one. I'd give you a cookie, but mine are out ATM...Talk to me about it in...say 2032, and I'll give you one, though ;)

-
well it appears that the new nacelle design is ahead by a far margin but come on people we need your opinions before we move forward

-
The original nacelle by far. It has a more distinctive look. The new one looks similar to others I've seen on other ships and in my opinion tones down the ship to make it look like another fed ship. I prefer distinctive ships I have mothballed quite a few because they are all starting to look a like. To much redundancy I can always change a hardpoint and call it a refit or upgrade but I can't change the ship. Hows that for an opinion... 8)

 This post ^!

 *cookied*
-
Hmm...  I am releasing three variants of this ship, so I might do three variants of nacelles.  That way you can get the ship you want. :)

That's still a might.  I'll close this poll in two days and switch out and ask if you'd like to see all three.  The third one will be a hybrid of the two featured here.  I'll post that when I'm not feeling lazy. :P
