You know that line, dont you?  :D

 still early WIP though.

 FC Cube anyone? :D

-
				  :o :? :) :D  :dance

^ That was my reaction at seeing it. That. Is. Awesome!

Haha - i like your little motion spectrum.

I agree - this cube looks great. Could you post a wireframe?
-
At the moment Im using C2X-Model. But I was about to ask if someone could make one for me and form a little project with me?  :)

 EDIT:

those textures are taken from an original photograph of the cube model. Ive streched it, changed the lighting, added glows... that kind of stuff.
-
				Oh s**t! Looks awesome!  :D

-
				Shizno, thats pretty freakin' awesome!

-
				I like Borg Ships D=

-
Well, I have been making a new cube for Legacy myself...

...but for making a cannon FC cube, I'd need some better reference pics than those from the movie. Do you have any?

edit: this one uses a retextured variant of the stock Legacy textures. would be interesting to see how this looks with your textures assigned.

well of course you can try. pm^^

Okay I need to know from you guys which model suits the FC Cube best. I tend to go for the second.

 First one, or last one?
-
				I'd hit no. 2. Seems more...Borg.

-
				I'd say no.1
number 2 seems to hav etoo many holes and stuff. ;)
-
No 1. The second one sort of looks like it's regenerating from hull damage, maybe it's just me, but both appear far better than what's currently available.

-
Since when wasn't a Borg cube a bumpy annoying intergalactic git :P? It's got less chunks missing than this one here (http://users.bigpond.net.au/dax/cube_FC.jpg).

-
				Definitely No.2  8)

-
I really can't see a difference between the two to be honest.

-
				2, but where's the poll?

-
2 for the base, but I can't really tell a good difference without the hatch that the Borg Sphere comes out of, speaking of which, will MVAM allow the sphere to come out? :D

-
I really can't see a difference between the two to be honest.

 Me neither. >.>
-
I just assimilated my shorts. That's freaking awsome...!

-
				 :o :? :) :D  :dance

You, sir, get a cookie for that post.

Anyway, definitely number 1.  With number 2, the textures clearly appear stretched in places.  Plus, Dalekanium2 is right.  Borg ships don't have such deep pits and protrusions.

Awesome texture, by the way.  It looks like you've added a specular map to it.  That really/ makes it pop!

Well, the first cube has deeper pits then the second one, i can assure you that. ingame it somehow feels like a bobw cube.
-
Id say two...you might consider dropping in a lower area for lit areas, with some model bits over it. This might make it perfect.

-
Number 2.  Number 1 has rounded edges, which we do not see on the cube in FC.

-
Also, number 2 is much more reminiscent of Voyager cubes and V Cubes are very much like FC Cubes.

-
Nice! I'd like a new borg cube. Will we be seeing a whole wide array of weapons like in the KM cube (I'm not certain who made that cube) or will it be cutting beams and torpedoes exclusively?

I've been tempted to make a cube myself, one with several 'layers' where blowing away a layer with alot of torpedoes etc would reveal a layer below it which holds vital systems, making the actual "firing at one position" a lot easier by seeing the big hole and all aiming for it.

Huh.  So it does!  Well then, there goes my main argument!

One nitpick, though: Alter the orientation of the texture on the second cube.  When Borg textures are patterned like that the entire illusion of texture depth breaks down for me, and ends up looking cheap.  (Maybe that was just a proof-of-concept shot, though?)
-
Now if only I would know how to model, those models are not mine xD...

-
				Oops. Sorry about that.

 Well, outstanding work nonetheless.
-
Thanks so far. I just made some new sounds and textures for the weapons. Just not sure about the permission, but oh well, that can be done I think.

-
HP is nearly finished. Should it be single fire or multiple fire? If single, I will make the beams for a short burst of max charges 1, and set the damage to 2500. That should make it quite formidable.

-
Multi-fire. Cubes never just picked on one ship.

-

 Voyager.
-
ummm ya, when there is only one ship for it to fire on...  lol i think youre missing the point of the question...

anyway, going back ontopic; i think the Cube should multi-fire...
-
I think Borg weapons were so pwoerful they could pick off ships really quickly and switch targets even faster. Watching FC, the Cube shoots a ship, it starts exploding but the Borg know that its dead already and picks off another ship. Borg aren't dilly dallyers! :P

But yes, multi-fire. Although if when playing the Cube you could automatically target all ship with single fire...awesome Borg action!
-
				New meme I missed?

Multi fire for sure. It'd suck to be picked out from a crowd by a cube.
-
Okay I have made some good sounds, now all that is left is a good looking beam texture/setting.

the cube is multifire, and has burst phasers that fire short bursts of a max charge of 1, with the damage setting 2000.

Pulse weapons also available, they are very powerful, so be careful.

I believe the thing is ready this week, as I have some real life business  8)
-
				Nice nice,

1 question though; Will it work with KM?

I remember that if you install a borg ship in your KM install, the A1 gets crazy and will crash or something.
-
I remember that if you install a borg ship in your KM install, the A1 gets crazy and will crash or something.

That's only if you install a ship which includes it's own, broken, AI script.
-
Now like some Borg ships that I've used. I have a question. Are the Borg shield Dampening weapons going to be insane and shoot out like 200000000000 blasts like I have seen with other ships or are there going to be canon like in the series where it's blast here. Blast there, blast there? Also  is it going to tractor and start beam cutting into the hull once the shields are down? :D Also no one addressed the hatch area, if this is the First Contact Cube you have to be able to Launch Spheres and have the Hatch Area :P

-
nah, i dont include any spheres and sphere hatches... never liked that.

-
Ome thing: The Borg cutting beams in FC were roughly triangular shaped. Not sure if that helps but, you never know. :D

-
yeah, that will be a problem.... i have to try some different beam settings. Maybe I will use c2's tractor beam texture... I atleast think the fc cubes beams looked like tractor beams just a little smaller.

-
I always thought the weapons reminded me of glass. And I believe in MPE you can set how many sides a phaser has. But don't count me on that one...

-
JTK - you're welcome to my mesh for this ship; you may also put your texture on both my Sphere and Tactical Cube.

 -CR
-
				thanks again russel!

I think the HP is ready. Im going to try it out now. I may post a youtube video.
-
				finished!!

-
				Wow,  :D

How spec intensive is this beast?
-
WOW to say at least  :D

Can't wait to see your Sphere ;)

have you considered retexturing Diamond, shuttle and Tactical Cube ?

btw. Cookie for great work !
-
Excellent! Quantum cookie fired at your direction. 8)

-
				Scary how accurate it looks...cookie!

-
Oh yeah, will there be Millenium Falcon too, amongs the other ships that fought there..?  :P

-
I don't like how it looks though in image ScreenShot092.JPG, seems kinda blurred.

-
Really? Because when I saw the thumbnail I thought he'd used a screencap from the movie for the viewscreen!

But the Cube is smalle rin that pic. The pic FourChan is talking about has the Borg shippy much closer.

Mind you, JTK has his piccies at 1600x1200 resolution. :P
-
At close look they are blurred... thats because i had to stretch the textures, because i used material that wasnt showing it from a front view.

But anyway, I changed the texture of the beams, it looks even better now. I may be able to upload it tomorrow, since I have to work here at home, Im not sure if i can find the time to make a readme and script it properly.

 thanks anyway!
-
damn, i have some serious problems ... i have used cr's cube as a base script, renamed everything and compiled it, but now the game crashes directly everytime i choose my cube in the menu

-
Could it be lacking some vital files?

-
*thinks* Are you sure you renamed everything inside the files to the correct hardpoint and data folder and model?

-
everything yes, looked it all up and again. maybe Ill upload is somewhere to let someone else take a look at.

-
I'll take a prod if you want. :D

-
You should simply put your texture on my Cube - maybe you should change the AI script from "Borg Attack" to "Basic Attack".

 -CR
-
I think Ive mixed things up too much, but anyway, you can download it here. Maybe you will see my mistakes:

 link removed
-
Downloading, if I find an answer in the next 30 minutes, I'll let you know.

Edit: The non multi-targeting cube may crash because of improper paths to the medium and low LOD nifs.
-
				That was the Problem, thanks!

				*On Topic*

Nice job on the cube. I've always had a thing for the borg. I prefer sinle-fire on the phasers myself. I never did like seeing so many beams coming from the cubes. Strong burst fire just seems to fit well when firing on many different ships. The textures look pretty good, and should probably handle well in-game, but I have a pretty good comp and would have like to have seen a highly detailed non-voyager cannon cube just once before the end of my BC experience. Overall, its a pretty good cube. I wonder how well it looks when damaged.

Almost every ship install over KM using their own borg ai will crash the game. By now, most people know how to protect their KM borg ai. I never released a stand-alone version of the borg ai from KM to the public because the demand just wasn't there. There are only a few people who have the lastest (and, stand-alone) version of the ai because they requested it. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if someone already created their own borg ai better than the one in KM, as my lastest version (summary below) is kinda old now. But then again, so is BC.
