I am trying to make a TOS style cadet uniform as seen worn by Finnegan on the amusement park planet. What is the best way to replicate the metallic sheen (It was covered in sequins on the show). Here is what I've got...

oh and here's Finnegan

also I could use a good image of the patch on his uniform.
-
what software are you using?
-
Photoshop 5.0LE
-
damn, I don't like this new format, you cant see attached pictures, I will have to repost them with photobucket.
-
yeah, same here
-
well here is an ingame pic, although I am still looking for the badge, and if possible I would still like to know how to do the metallic texture.

I finally came up with a way to do the metallic thread:
All I did was add a noise filter
-
looking good!! :)
-
Not trying to "hijack" your work, but I made a couple of variants based on your work. They looked pretty good ingame, although on my install I hadn't modified the "head" textures yet.
-
Addendum: Marine texture is completely non-canon, but fits with the general coloring of the "Away Team" desert uniform in ST V.

I was wondering if somebody miight get around to this!
Imho: the thread look needs to be larger, and also it needs a-bit more shen, look at finn- then look at the uniform you have done.
Looks good
(have you ever though of the Terran Empire uniform)

I'll take a look at those in game, meanwhile, I have an ingame shot of my cadet uniform.

I still can't quite figure out how to give it a real sheen though
-
ACES, what program are you using to make these?

well it looks though, with the pic of finn- that sheen may have been, it was photographed in direct sunlight, the bridge lighting may not do it (hey it's a logical around the issue)

For the ones at the top I was using an old copy of Photoshop 5LE. I got PhotoShop Elements 5 for Christmas though so the new ones are with that.

yeah I guess I'll do that then.
let me just get permissions ironed out and a readme thrown together then I will have it up on BCFiles.

Ya might want to change the Insignia to match their stations. Only the Captain has the Star inside the Federation symbol.

thanks, but I think I like mine better, it kinda has a "Sparkle" because of the noise, no offence but yours looks like you used one of those old claris/appleworks patterns, and to me it looks more like chainmail than metalic thread.

Dude, that would be an awesome mod. A Medieval Armor mod.

the symbol, at that time (era) was used for two things, departments, and the shape of the symbol was used to show different ships
-
That is what I said. If we're talking about the Ent, each color uni should have it's own unique badge.
-
well, Cadets in TOS seem to have a small silver version of the Starfleet Command starburst, so that is what I will use here
-
Well, I meant that as a reply to darkthunder, as I don't recall ever getting a good look at the Cadet Badges from TOS.
