I've never built bridges before, so I decided to do something simple. The NX-Excelsior bridge has a TOS look to it, but it has much more chairs and no railings. The bridge so far is 4.5k polys-- well within the BC limit. I still have the turbo lift to do, but that should not add much to the polys. I thought this will be fun to do and to expand my skills. :)

Wow.
-
I always hated that bridge. Good going on the model, though.
-
Would definately go along with the TWOK/TSFS bridges in progress.
-
You've made an ugly 'quick bridge' look sexy Wiley!
Is there no end to your awesomeness?
(Technically, we didn't see that many chairs in that scene. I would suggest that you reduce the amount of chairs so that they 'make sense').
-
The bridge itself looks so damn cheap xD
But your model is great :D
-
If you were to update the bridge what would you do without making it look like the ST6 version?
-
looking good wiley! :D
altho, despite the schematic, i think the bridge was a bit larger...
-
i think the bridge was a bit larger...
And you are right. I'm making it bigger.
-
The bridge is now bigger.
-
That looks about right. :)
-
i dunno i think it might need to be just a slight little larger still lol
unfortunately, the screencaps at trekcore dont quite show the full bridge too well...

If i were to update this bridge I would add few pillars separating one station from another and probably put 2 stations behind capt. chair like on sovereign class but of course TMP styled also it would look cool to rise capt. chair a bit ... maybe a platform like on ST6 bridges ???
dunno why but I always liked simplicity of this design :D oh and displays were taken straight from TOS bridge sets ;)
EDIT : I watched TSFS and the captains chair is infact on a riser platform thus it's a little higher that the other chairs

Thanks for noticing that.

Very realistic bridge. I'm happy to see that also you (I think one of the best expert in modelling) now are working on bridges! With this we are near to complete all the TMP era's bridges!
-
God I think I'll always have an unwavering hatred for that bridge... xD Good modeling work though, ****Wiley. :]
[girr had to edit. xD]

That was the idea, I think. In Star Trek III, you were supposed to hate the Excelsior. They were the "bad guys".
-
Idk that they'd be "bad guys"... the excelsior captain did warn kirk and seemed to have a little bit of a warm spot for his fellow captain, there. Anyways, to something I'm curious of [and cutting away from off-topic-ness], Wiley do you have any idea how you're going to tackle the ceiling? o.O; We never did see that.
-
"good morning captain"
hahahahah
that part always sticks out in my head every time i look at an excelsior.
good work wiley!

That was with something of an arrogant swagger, I thought...Styles was so enamored of the "superiority" of his ship.
Back on topic, though, to add my own question to Aeries': How difficult would this be, considering we only saw the back left quarter of this thing (we never even saw the viewscreen, as far as I remember)?
-

We did not see the ceiling of the TOS Enterprise also. I'll probably do a combination of the ST3 Enterprise, and the ST6 Excelsior.

I found some reference which may help you.

But the riser platform is missing on that picture. It's possible that the one who made it didn't notice the riser platform in the movie.
Nice work btw.

Thanks for the reference images, but I already have them.
-
I've started to work on the buttons and computer graphics. Enjoy. :)

Are you going to try for the verbal alert system like in the film (even though the only verbal one on Excelsior was for yellow alert, I know there are some computerized "red alert" voices that'd fit), or are you just keeping with the klaxons?

It's still waaaaaay to early to start thinking about sfx. It's not even ingame yet.
-
can we get a version where the panels flicker and crash too? :D

The bridge still stays the same even when the Transwarp "craps-out."

Yeah, that makes sense; the only sign of the crap-out was the console on the helm station flickering and then being replaced by "Good Morning Captain" (which I must agree with CyAn1d3, it stands out the most out of that whole scene - that and Captain Styles' dumbfounded look when the "Great Experiment" kinda blew up in his face. Well, not literally, but you get the idea).
