Title: Eject Antimatter Storage Pods
Post by: vonfrank on October 01, 2009, 12:41:48 PM
I am trying to make it possible for a ship to deploy its antimatter storage pods in game. my idea is to make the pods selectable and then destructable with a massive explosion. Different ships would carry different ammounts of pods but once you deploy all of them, your ship no longer has warp core power.

is such a thing even possible, and if it is, how do i go about scripting this

I think the hardest part would be to create the Storage Pod Model, other than that, you could look up in the "Eject WarpCore", "Abandon Ship" and "ESR Emergency Repair" scripts to get an Idea.

is there currently any available model of a small box or something that could be made to look like the pod?

The mine perhaps?
Or a lifeboat?

The Galaxy Class Escape Pod makes a good Antimatter Storage Pod  ;)

yeah, whatever that is in the picture looks like it might make a good one, maybe you could somehow also add a timer to detonate the pods after a few seconds (when the containment field dissipates)

i was thinking more like using them as a target to blow up near a presuing enemy ship
