when I asked GMunoz to tweak one of my TOSes for better balance, this design popped into my head after using the finished product.
Introducing the Chandler class heavy scout. in reverse of Tradition, this was developed by Section 31 rather than the usuall route of being developed by fleet engineers. it also reverses tradition that the NX version proved tough enough and sensible enough that starfleet themselves wanted it in regular form!
people, I need some design input. if I could make this model myself, I'd be all over it.
I need the following
1. possible locations for plasma vents (i'm not sure where to put them)
2. names. the series is named after pulp author Raymond Chandler, and others in the series will be named after fictional detectives, spies, and mystery authors (imagine a ship named "USS Jessica Fletcher"!) :angel
3. information on design clearances involving things like a varient of the RAF Roundell
some name proposals I have allready in mind
USS Christie
USS Bond (JAMES Bond) :D
USS Mata Hari
-
USS Bing. :P

is that a duo or quad engines?
-
dual. if it was quad, Lionus would offer sexual favours :P
care to explain the joke, Vortex?
-
it breaks genes rules, you won't be able to see bussards from front
-
Excelsior class. Rule is pointless based on her. Also the Ambie pushes that rule a little. And there also loads of different designs on BC that probably don't obey that rule. KCS can do what he wants. :)
-
you comment is pointless

Erm, that was fan made, its subject to reliability on accuracy.
-
deadthunder: unless Mr. Roddenberry put a literall copyright on the starship's design (which would technically belong to Matt Jeffries, anyway), i think I CAN do it like that. besides, those are actually side scoops, which would funnel particles into the bussards over and around the saucer's domes. i need to make the front view. the bussards should be just visible over the saucer domes from the front.
Dalek: he was probably referring to the TOS setup rules, and those really SHOULD be followed as close as possible.

Chandler Bing (aka Matthew Perry, in the television series 'Friends')

can this thread please go back ontopic? :)

How is this ship supposed to look from the rear? Those engines look really weird/not possible from the side.
-
why not use a connie hull instead of a federation class hull
-
I grabbed what looked like a connie hull. zoom it in a little, and you can see that the guy who had the "parts" images saved em as Jpegs (the dingaling)
@Kirk: stacked duo, with the impulse vents between the end caps of the nacelles. there is NO e-hull, just a box that substitutes as the engineering section between the two nacelles. there are no nacelle balls, these are flatbacks (probably leftover nacelles from the thirties :P)
vortex misread the class name (probably on purpose).
