Title: Connection between Hull strength & subsysytem
Post by: NatsuKagura on August 15, 2010, 10:00:38 AM
Hi.. Guys, I got a question here....  :help:
I got something bothering me, it's about relation between Hull strength & subsytem (for example :torpedo tubes). I just notice that my Galaxy is inconsistency destroyed in the middle of battle... :lostit: sometimes she's destroyed in an instant, some other time she's very difficult to be destroyed. Until I found this....
Okay...Let's say I have a Galaxy class with the hull strength 17.000 & radius point is 0.0017
, I have six for each fwd & aft photon torpedoes in the same their respective place with 4.000 health each & radius 0.19.  ;)

The problem is when I hit the Galaxy's hull (in this case I use 4 disruptors with damage 400), the health point is decreased slowly ( about 1-2% of the total ships's health, I think  :angel). But when I hit her aft Torpedo tubes, the health is decreased damn fast ,about 15% PER HITs :banghead: of the total Ship's health. So I just need to destroy her rear tubes and her health down to 15-20% left ....

The question is... why my galaxy is destroyed far easier when I hit her torpedo tubes instead of hitting her hull directly  :lostit:?  What's is the health relation between ship's hull & her subsystem? :assimilate

Thanxxxx.... :D :D :D :D :D

you forgot the sheild ratings.  don't forget to add those in to your factoring.

that only counts if he had shields up in the test....

anyway you might want to check how much HP the torp tubes have and their damage radius.

YEP, sub-system radius [like Neb- implied] is a HUGE factor.

Just a quick one on this. Set your hull and subsytem radii inside the hull (or subsystem area on the model) as much as possible.
This will prevent the old 'how did they destroy that, the shot was miles off!' problem. :)

Ow... thanks , King, Nebula, Tiqhud.. ;).. Interesting... hmmm....well... It solve several of the problem... I can avoid critical hit with that trick... I like that trick very much.. :D..  & I use that especially for my Negh Var or any ship that supposed to be a "Heavy" or "Assault" class..good for psycology detterent..... Thank u very much El...  ;)

However... My problem still remaining I think.... :P
I mean .... as my ship' spec I explained earlier, when I against my Galaxy, she lose 60-75% of her hull strength (max hull strength is : 17.000), when all of her ship's aft torpedo tubes (6) is destroyed.
But it's different when I target her hull directly... It's strong...

So.. she lost 11.000 to 13.000 point when her (all) aft torpedo is hit & destroyed. But she only lost ... well... 10%... per hits... when I target her hull.  :lostit:

Her torpedo tube is : 6 tubes , health : 4.000 each, radius : 0.17 each, position : dead aft, all in one coordinate only, all six.
Her hull is : 17.000, radius : 0.00017. Position : Center (?). (untargetable of course).
For my attacking distruptor : 4x distruptor , damage : 400 each, damage radius : 0.2
Her shield : hmm... it's varry... but when I experimenting... I make sure the shield is fully draining.
I set my Galaxy in friendly ship, and I hit her dorsal side (shield strength 16.000) until it's completedly drained, aiming for the dorsal hull until she's destroyed for the first test, and her aft torpedo tubes for second test.

Btw.... is there any connection between hull strength damage percentage with subsystem's ?   :D

ugh... I think , now I understand some connection between the hull health and the subsystem health....
Let's say we have a ship with hull (15.000 w radius 0.007) and 4x torpedo tube at one location. (4x 2.000 w radius 2.000).
Then while we flanking with a high speed, we get 2 hits by powerfull torpedo (each 4.000 damage) at the torpedo system. The hit could hit & destroyed the entire tubes (since the torpedo's radius is wide) and then we LOST 8.000 point for the HULL's health as well, in that two hits.
But, if that two torpedoes targeted to the hull instead of the tubes, it's may need more than 3 hits to take 8.000 point from the ship's health since the hull have a narrow radius, as it' won't get a clean hit.
it's seems also applied to how many the destroyed subsystem we have in that same place.
If we have 2x 2.000 point tubes destroyed, we lost 4.000 Hull's point as well. And if we have 8x 2.000 point tubes destroyed, we lost 16.000 point, even though both of the condition assuming we'r hit by the SAME number of torpedo hits.
ugghhh....... :lostit:
ah... btw please correct me if I wrong... please...
