Title: Star Trek: Klingon Academy - Is it good?
Post by: Tuskin38 on November 17, 2010, 09:13:30 AM
I heard that Klingon Academy was a good game back in its day.

I played SF:A and enjoyed it. Will I like Klingon Academy? Are the controls the same as SFA?

1) Yes it was an awesome game. The missions I think were a bit more challenging over all than the BC campaign.

2) No they are not you got to do a lot more(even more than in stock BC). You have to use a lot of macros to get what you want done faster.

Darn, game keeps crashing on startup. I'm running on vista, that may be it. But I can run SFA, which is older.

I'm running in compatibility mode...

To google!

Edit:
Wow, it was compatibility mode that was crashing it. I thought compatibility mode was suppose to help :P

from what I've read, it runs better on Windows 7. Maybe I'll wait till my Laptop is fixed.

KA hates the newer OS's, I notice. I can't run mine on the good graphics modes I used to on XP, otherwise it flashes white every time I move.

Which stinks, because I've had this game since 2001 and contributed to some small degree to the modding community...designed a ship or two that Kt'Hyla built for me, and did a couple modifications (mirror universe versions of his TOS and TMP Enterprises)...wanted to bring my babies (http://dhost.info/phoenix/reydovan.htm) back into the fray. *grin*

Apparently turning off Detailed Star field fixes the flickering.

the game starts up now without crashing, but its just a black screen. But I've read a couple reports that game actually runs on Windows 7 better then Vista.

I'm still getting the black screen, but I can heat the music and menu sounds. So its just a video problem.

When I get the black screen at startup, I move the mouse around.
Where ever the pointer is the menu appears under that and a few pixels around as well.

Tis' not work for you others?
