Title: Shuttle Launching Framework - How do I edit the carrier py file that came with the ship so that shuttle launching feature works?
Post by: Billz on February 07, 2007, 08:49:01 PM
So, let me explain. Recently I downloaded Zambie Zans Midway Carrier and the shuttle launching feature is not working. I figure this is because I edited the py ship files in the 'custom' folder so that they would appear were I want them to in the ship selection menu.

My question is, how do I edit the carrier py file that came with the ship so that shuttle launching feature works? I have the framework and the mutator is on. Its just a case of renaming something in the carrier py for this ship so that it works.

I have never edited carrier files before so this would be good practice for me.

Its not causing a BSOD, I just want to launch peregine fighters against dominion ships, dont we all  :P

Well, the fighters launch in my BC. Each one of the 3 types from a different hangar.
You should check the debugging screen to find out whats wrong.
Anyway, this is my .py file that works.

That didnt seem to work for me. I just need to know how to adjust the carrier py file accordingly so that the SLF works.

Like I said before, the reason I suspect it isnt working for me is because I edited the ship py files in the 'custom' folder so that they would appear were I wanted them in the ship selection menu.

I'll place the py file here for the midway carrier so that you can get a better idea of how to help me solve it.
I'll just post the 'Midway' ship py. All the other ship py's (IE: PT Peregine, FT Wraith, Shuttle Type 3,) have been edited accordingly so that they would still appear in the same submenu as the midway carrier.

My Midway carrier file works, with the 3 launchable ships in a different submenu, but to my eyes, this looks weird, does teh console says "Shuttle FrameWork not loading...Bye Bye!"? (hate that msg...its like a taunt)...but on mine, the ships sometimes launch in the same bay (if i shoot Type 3's first), and somebody really needs to rewrite the framework...it's plauged with problems...

Nope. Im not getting that messege anywhere in the console. Im sure its just a case of editing something in the carrier file so that it knows which ship is supposed to use it. All I need is for someone to tell me what needs editing in the carrier py file.

I already posted the 'Midway' py ship file so that you can see what Ive edited.

And now the Shuttle Launching Framework has decided to be a little b***h and stopped working for all my installed ships that supported it.

I propse that someone make a new version of SLF with ALL the bugs worked out.

one of your Carrier files - the one for the EnterpriseJ is broken.
You probably want to delete both - the .py and the .pyc.

If it still doesn't work again - new console output please.

Im not sure why that worked, but it did. Thank you Defiant. Still think someone should do an updated SLF but untill that happens, this is great.

Again, thanks Defiant.  :dancebig

If you want your carrier files to be correct, try this;
