Title: USS INFERNO NX-84235-Open for modelers to attempt when bored.
Post by: flarespire on January 11, 2011, 01:36:37 PM
an important note before you start reading, i have only drawn half the dorsal view because of 2 reasons:
1, once i (plus helpers) get this half modeled, it can be mirrored.
2, i would have seriously cocked it up if i tried to draw the other half.

anyways on with the show XD

so, this has 4 inset torp launchers in the saucer, and is inspired by Wiley's Proteus, and achilies/proteus hybrid.

image attached.

Some bits look good, but there is too much blue grilles on the nacelles. Any other views?

not ATM, besides the grilles are more spread out, just looks a bit overdone because i havent drawn the other views yet.

When you are nearly done with the other views, keep in mind the number of decks the ship has, because right now, yours looks lie a heavily weaponized Nova-class ship.
Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235
Post by: flarespire on January 11, 2011, 01:56:16 PM
i can say its around the same size as the proteus, give or take 2-5 decks, but yeah, i redesigned this as a possible sister class for the proteus or a step up from the nova class.

I'm just saying that my Proteus-ship family could easily be smaller than the Enterprise-E.

looks good dude

i agree with the size of the ship... it does look a bit nova class.

here is a little something i thought might help :D

ehh, the im possibly gonna make her inscale to ent-e, to be safe.
Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235
Post by: hobbs on January 11, 2011, 02:41:53 PM
after talking to flare~ on messenger i thought of this

the inner nacelle extends for warp flight and retracts for combat or impulse manoeuvres

or

the inner nacelle extends for greater warp efficiency or enhanced speeds

just an idea  :D
Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235
Post by: flarespire on January 11, 2011, 02:50:31 PM
thats a pretty nifty idea, though the nacells are defaultly the length i said, and the vent on top is a preventure of engine overheat*flashback of first test flight, shudders*) but the extend idea is pretty awsome XD

ok so after staring at my ent-e model for an hour, doing alot of doodling, and having a hard think, ive decided to make the inferno as lnog and as wide as ENT-E but its only going to have 29 decks.

im currently working on a side view, though i hate side views because i always muck those up....

Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235
Post by: flarespire on January 11, 2011, 06:01:16 PM
does it have to be finished or just a reasonable start on it?
Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235
Post by: Nebula on January 11, 2011, 06:22:46 PM
reasonable start
Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235
Post by: JimmyB76 on January 11, 2011, 06:24:17 PM
as i explained in the PM, once the project gets into the modeling phase and becomes an actual WIP mod for BC, then the thread can be moved or a new one made...
BC Modding forum isnt for drawings and other art work, which is what the project is at this current phase...

ok guys, being as ive changed something, this ship will looklike a nova class from the side except the nacells are in line with the saucer and it has a deflector band and no secondary deflector, and the nacells are to how ive drawn them.
if anyone wants to have a go please lemme know, as imgoing to attempt her, she also looks like the nova from the front, just with the changes ive made.

getting fed up? why's that? this should be enjoyable for you hope you don't give up.
I know its bloody hard to do these designs but just take your time. seriously mate there is no deadline.

and in regards to my request for pics... yes i meant drawings rather than models.

(note: i'll help all i can but i have a baby in my life now so i'm not always able to help)

A VERY BIG WARNING, I have got the designs done and they will be uploaded, the warning is that i am currently unable to model this ship due to 3ds max not agreeing with my copy of xp on my quad corr machine, which i model on, i will be able to hely map out the textures, but thats all, so keep an eye on this for all views uploaded as a .zip file and as attached images.

heres a revised side view.

NOTE: i kept miscaling the length on the nacells, theyre supposed to be 2 to 7 cm longer on the drawing.

Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235

ok long time since i replied here, no real update  :( sadly because i need to rethink part of the design but im going to say that as soon as i get this redesigned and all set up, im hoping this can start to be modeled, also ive started another project which i want you guys to take a look at when you can, its in the art forum, and its called "some planned ships for BC..." or something like that.
Title: Re: USS INFERNO NX-84235
Post by: flarespire on June 08, 2011, 08:52:59 PM
ok now that ive looked at things more thoroughly, im deciding to leave it at the initial designs, the nacells will be the only things that change, that in the sence that theyre the length in the dorsal view, but extend out a quater of the nacell length in warp, like hobb's original design, and im also thinking that it will be 25 decks. hopefully when in colledge ill finally learn how to model how you guys do, keep watching my art forum threads for updates.

LOL, i didnt see that untill now, i was trying to imitate the shape of the proteus' deflector band, guess i got a little over zealous, still this ones gonna be a beaut when done.
GOD i hope it doesnt look THAT skewed and mis-aligned when modeled, that would be BAD.

ok no real update aside to say that i wish someone would take this up at some point because im way to far off from learning to model for myself (at least a year away now), so if anyone feels like something to do, look at this design, PLEASE!  :(

Judging by the looks of most modders WIP list, chances for accepting model request are slim ;)

gotta be honest, i doubt any modder will pick it up - as you know, the ol' story of the 'modders are backlogged with their own works and usually never take requests'...

well i said i would take the time to do a base model for you. you just have to give me some time to get the ragnarok finished and out the door.  :P
