I installed BC on vista ult 64 in c:\games and patched to 1.1.  No other mods are installed.

When I try starting BC, it will go to a black screen for a few seconds then minimize showing the desktop.  The game is still running in the taskbar, when I click on it, it brings it back up to a black screen for a few seconds then minimizes back to the desktop.  I have to use the task manager to close it.

I've tried all compatibility options as well as running it as an administrator.

 Any ideas?  Thanks.

uninstall, then run setup with compatibility mode (win xp + as administrator and DPI turned off)

Thanks for the suggestion.  After doing so, the same problem exists, only now I can hear the intro music play for a few seconds and (sometimes) see a brief second of the intro video.

 -Edit-
Problem resolved.  It was the matrox software running causing the problem.

Interesting issue. I've seen all kinds of issues, on some machines you cannot have any programs running at the same time with BC or it will minimize itself instantly (for example running an open browser window)

-
I've never had that issue except with the popup ads for drivermax's extra aps.  btw, what's "matrox software"?

-
dunno if that's it but Matrox used to produce graphics chipsets (if I'm not wrong they still manufacture integrated graphics for notebooks)

The software is used with triplehead2go.  A piece of hardware that connects 3 monitors to make one big one.  My setup has 3 22' monitors which makes 5040x1050.

ah, yes.  BC doesn't like non 4:3 ratio setups (as the engine was invented before widescreen got applied to everything).  it takes some special adaption just to get a few of the cinematic screen ratios.

yep, latest KM has additional resolutions in options and those are wide screen options ;)
