So...when building my BC install on mah new comp...
I installed the amazing TCMP and basked in its gloriousness then installed Bones's brilliant TMP Connie pack and prepared to bask in its gloriousness but realized it had overwrote my TCMP Enterprise (the "production version") as well as the U.S.S Essex. When I reinstalled TCMP to overwrite the ships in Bones's pack and revert them to the TCMP ships, the Essex overwrote Bones's ship but the Enterprise remained the one in Bones's pack...I tried it again with no variance in my results.

flip a coin, then download the foxhound :angel
but given the face that bones is me buddy, id vote for his any day
-
I'm way ahead of ya there I got the Foxhound already! I've been a fan of your ships for a long time :D
-
im not quite sure what the problem is here that youre having?
-
Just make new plugins for the ships which are missing.... Simples ;)

oi, thall about dew it tew mate
glads to know i has me a fan round ere, thought i was jus a nuisance.

I beta'd for you, remember!
I would but...I don't know if Phaser's ship got overwritten or not and the TCMP is an .exe installer so I can't even figure out what the .py files are called...lol I'm a mess :)
-
oh yea... how the hell could i forget? see what happens when i dont release anything for damn near a YEAR?
BCUT would help. best way to test overwrites is to make a new folder, drop the ships off in there and compare files in the rars, if it IS the plugins, then all you have to do is boot BCUT and make new ones.
-
it is a good habit , to unzipp-unrar, all mod-ships into a Temp folder, then you can cut&paste after looking them over.

Kay I looked in the TCMP .exe and figured out what was overwriting what and made a handy-dandy new plugin - thanks guys!
And now I have a whole new problem!
On some ships (I have KM 2010 btw) the weapons scripted as pulses refuse to fire unless the power is turned up to 200%...and a lot of times there isn't enough room in the power distribution menu to list all of the pulse scripts...so in BCUT what would I change to ensure this madness is fixed?
[EDIT: Okay forget all of that...that's trivial...I'm BSOD now. As the last three ships to install on my day of install-building, I installed Psycho's Excelsior pack, LC's Raptor, and ZZ's Miranda pack. Upon start, BC gave me this sh*t where when I would start Quickbattle or Galaxy charts it would go to a black screen almost immediately after showing the picture of the Sovereign that says "Inter Arma Enim Silent Legis". So I uninstalled said ships w/ BCUT...no change. I leafed through the old tech support threads where I found one of my old threads which dealt with the same issue (but was caused by my stupidity of using BCMP). It it, Neb suggested I delete my options.cfg which I did...only to find to my immense frustration that I was now met w/ a BSOD upon start. I have a sneaking feeling my install is toast...I'll provide a console report if someone asks for one...

uhm this should not happen, what ships do you speak off?

*ask*

The console report can't fit all the text on the screen...as I'm running on 1440*900 resolution.
-
instill MLeo's console logger which can be found at BCFiles or using the search function here...
(or, look at the stickied threads in this forum)
it will generate a txt file with the full console report...

Quite a handy tool.

Nevermind...I looked at the console dump and it turned up nothing relevant. I had to reinstall.
-
how do you know it wasn't relevant?
-
It turned up with scripts I had deleted already (and believe me when I say I had scrubbed clean every last remnant...) so it wasn't worth the hassle any more...well that wasn't a waste of any one's time now was it? ;)
-
what version of windows are you running?
-
Win 7 Ultimate
-
if you install to the program files directory then windows 7 saves the pyc files to (if I remember) a folder in App Data.
so even if you delete the py files in the BC folder it will still have the files there

It's not a problem with name issues, just add DM prefix to them the long name parameter in ship plugins, that should do it, no more conflicting names :)
thank you for kind words btw ;)
