Was thinking about releasing ship parts in a pack as nifs and base textures for people to kitbash.
The idea would be for a folder with nacelles, another with saucers etc so people and put their own ships together from these parts.
I have built a few ships now so have plenty of parts to put in the pack.
Is this some people would be intrested in? The only credit I would ask is for the original parts.
Also if any of the other modellers want to contribute ship parts as well let me know.
-
HMM, not bad idea :yay:
-
Count me in!
-
As a budding modeler myself, I would love to have something like a "parts" kit to play around with.
-
that actually sounds like a damn good idea.
and a tutorial for various bridge tools to make nacelle pylons and connections
-
Oh that sounds fun!!
-
Doooo it!!!
-
This will be awesome, getting some modelling practice wouldnt be a bad idea. A cookie for such ingenuity.
-
Hmm. this would mean that someone could finally build a Coeur De Lion that isn't misaligned here and there.. :P
-
Has a bit of a Star Trek: Starship Creator vibe to it; sounds good!
-
if there could be the parts of a Galaxy Class, someone could use those to kitbash the Nebula Class as seen in late season DS9 (USS Bonchune, for example) which hasnt yet been done for BC...
ive always wanted one of those lol
-
I haven't :P

Galaxy X too :D

didn't Captain Russel build such kitbash ??? I'm sure I had it few years ago, built from SNS Galaxy parts, even haveing those additional 3 rows of windows on dorsal saucer :P
-
That sounds like an awesome idea.

Galaxy X too :D
Already planning on one of those when my Galaxy is finished.
Looks like this idea has promise I will start to create the folders for the various parts.

i dont think he did?
-
He did. I remember, that's one of the reasons why I didn't get his Nebula pack.
-
hmm not sure if thats what i mean... the nebula class ships like uss bonchune clearly have a galaxy stardrive and saucer, i dont see any nebula ships in cr's pack that have those? the main difference is a larger stardrive than a normal nebula class and more rows of windows around the edge of the saucer... (as seen here http://voy.trekcore.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=141&page=6)
ah well, its no big deal... dont mean to drag the thread offtopic...
-
they also have the Galaxy class Impulse engines and deflectors instead if the standard nebula ones, and the Hulls are the same shape as the galaxy class, unlike the studio model which was slightly different.

exactly - thats the kind of nebula class kitbash i would really love to have in my install...
a nebula class which is purely made up of galaxy class parts and not much like the standard nebula class... it's just a personal taste of mine, ive always wanted one of those...
-
the CR Nebulas are all like that, I think you're confusing them with the CE nebula pack which uses the studio model version.
Anyway, we've dragged this too far off topic already
-
One could build a transforming ship out of that :P

THIS! what ACES_HIGH said Jimmy.

HAHA

i wasnt confusing CRs and CEs, i guess CR's just doesnt have what i am exactly looking for...

:hithead:
What parts are missing from the Nebula that are not from the Galaxy? I have not got a great trained eye when it comes to Cannon detail... but I would really like to know mate.

I believe it was covered on page one, but in short, the rim of the saucer and secondary hull are thicker around the sensor strip, the deflector is a totally different shape, kinda like puckered lips, and the secondary hull is taller and shorter. I believe the pylons are different, too.

Now, someone lock a tractor beam on this thread :p!
Baz! Great idea. Are you going to simply chop up some of your completed ships, or will you be knocking out some nacelle and hull-element designs exclusive to the pack?
-
it will be all my exsisting ships.
-
bren: is there a better sized set of those closeups somewhere? I might just play with that old model after all...
-
the most noticeable difference is that the impulse engine vents on the saucer are covered. Bren's right though, lets all get this thread back on track, maybe someone could start a thread in the Trek Tech section about the Nebula variants.
-
YES! I would like this to happen! I want to create the ships in the attached pic. I just need a few things made for me. Oh, right. Is the program used to make the ships called ?D Max or something? Cheers

That s because the Nebula physical model was made based on the 4 foot Galaxy model noth the 6 foot model. Also ther was significant time and money pressures to complete the model for shooting.
-
please do this. I'm looking forward to gracing peoples games with my creations ;)
-
here are the nacelles for the pack.

JJrefit (mk 1 and 2)
Darwin
Probert Ambassidor

-
textures assinged. Final release will have reg free textures.
-
This pack is full of epic win. :D
-
have you released this yet? if not, PLEASE do! I want to be a modder!
-
if it were released, there would be a link for here here in this thread and as well in BC Downloads forum and at BCFiles...
and it will be released when it is complete... please never ask a modder to release something... a modder will release a project when they feel it is complete and ready... it is all about patience ;)
one of those forum-etiquette things...
-
it will be worked on once the galaxy is finished.
I want to add the galaxy parts to the pack.
-
ok both. oh and baz, will it have things like TMP style saucers and excelsior saucers?
-
only ships I have built.
If your not sure what I have built I recommend you start at page one of my WIP thread and work your way through the 3 years of work.
-
ok. good luck with your Galaxy
