I am using the Warbird Bridge on my install of KM (newest version) and i keep getting this error "D3D Render Creation Error
Error string from render was:
Creation failed,Desired fullscreen display mode not supported"
followed by
Runtime Error!
Program:C:\Program Files\Activision|Bridge Commander\stbc.exe
abnormal program termination
Any help would be vastly appreciated

ive come across this error before and its usually fixed itself when i deleted the exe and copied in a fesh one.
but there are other easier fixes aswell.
-
Thank you for the reply, the fix i do is deleting the options.cfg, but since this problem happens very frequently, i am tired of reapplying all the setting over and over again. Does that fix that you say, make me re-configure my settings? Does it fix it permanently?
-
it should permanantly fix it, BUT that may not be the case, it also depends on the machine and many other variables, just attempt it and see.
-
so far, i havent gotten the error, but that is so far.. hopefully it doesnt do so again. Thank you for your help.
what variables are those?
-
the normal stuff, like the machines capabilities, updates and all that carp, everymachine is different in its own way, dont forget that.
-
I see, which makes sense. Well it happened again sadly. What are the other fixes?
-
delete options.cfg and reboot before starting BC again.
-
Hello again defiant, thanks for the reply, i have done that before, but as i have stated earlier, the error happens again with frequency, and i am tired of reconfiguring my settings for the game, and hence want another option to fix it
-
Do you have ALL the requirements?
:s
-
actually could you post ALL the specs of the machine your using to play Bridge Commander? we may find something there which could be the cause of the problem/the fix to it.
-
Frequent errors are an unfortunate fact of life with BC (the game is almost 10 years old after all). I know that you're sick of doing this, but the best course of action is deleting the options.cfg whenever you get the D3D error. There is no permanent fix that I know of.
-
I use a shortcut -key combination- and if I press the combination to much that comes-up. So I just CRTL+Alt+Del, and make sure it is STOPPED, start agian.
-
Can you please post the options.cfg that is created by BC?
-
My specs are these http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02204322&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=101&prodSeriesId=4150047&prodTypeId=321957. I have a better pc, just that the other one cant play older games without me reconfiguring some things, hence i use that laptop, but i have tweaked it enough to play Napoleon Total war on medium settings.
short cut key combination eh? tell me more please
anyways here is the options.cfg . Note, this options.cfg is right after i deleted an older one, hence it is rather new
-
hmm the options.cfg looks good. No wonder deleting doesn't work.
Try this: Change "Fullscreen Mode" in options.cfg to 0.
-
Thanks, so far however, it makes the game crash past the KM video after changing it to 0, however, the shortcut trick, while not permanent, seemed to work, and is better than deleting the config file. Either way, i will do what you said when it happens again
-
ok lets try without the Videos. Drop this file: http://defiant.homedns.org/~erik/STBC/misc/zzz_noIntros.py
to scripts/Custom/Autoload/
-
Could it be GUI if it crashes right before loading menus ? just a thought :P
-
Thank you defiant, that fixed the crash
I am not sure what exacy causes
Error string from render was:
Creation failed,Desired fullscreen display mode not supported"
but i assume its when this happens, the viewscreen of the Warbird bridge stays stuck at the image of the QB loading screen, and then the image warps when one moves the camera. when i exit, and then restart the game, thats when i get the error. So far, with all of your suggestions combined i have not experience it so far, however, when it does, i shall post the screenshot so you lads could take a look at it and draw conclusions.
-
Hm interresting new solution to this problem.
-
Well its not permanant sadly, as the warping on the viewscreen that leads to the error notice happened today, the good thing as i said, that with these methods prescribed by you all, i dont have to reconfigure my game over and over again :)
-
hmm Do you have the same problems on a another install?
(Why is this not under Techsupport?)
-
i have the same problem on all installs, i have 2 installs at the same time, in different locations. Also it seems to be the only bridge that does the viewscreen warp bug (what causes the crash i think)
hahah i asked myself that right after i posted the thread, my mistake.
