Title: Canon NEMESIS Sovereign-Class Bridge project (updated)
Post by: Captain_Storma on March 07, 2007, 07:38:23 AM
Hi there. I am new to this forum, but I have been a long time BC player. I love your mods and how they changed an average game into the gold standard for TREK simulation.

I always wanted to create 3D objects myself and started to use Cinema 4D (never actually could get into Max3d).

This is my first project... I need you feedback and suggestions how to make this one look better. I always hated the look of the stock Sovereign-bridge. It looks cheap. There are some really great retextures, but the overall shape is completely wrong.
I made this one using original plans made for First Contact, so the proportions should match the original as close as possible.

No textures yet, as I have no idea how to apply them (yet).  :P

Looks great so far!

However I must ask have you tried the Bridge Plugin for the stock models?  I only ask because I know someone's going to mention sooner or later.

I can't wait to see more results :)

bridge plugin can only do so much... it looks good but i have to ask:

What is this being modeled in?
How many polys are you at?

I'm gonna hold judgement till i know those two, but on face value it looks pretty good.

For what i can tell the polycount looks nice (good thing it?s not smoothed and i can look at the polies).
The current count will be a bad references as i can see you still have the backfaces at the model, should pull the counts pretty high.

Mark: I think he said it?s at cinema4d. If so, cinema exports .3ds files, Dante used it to model his sets too.

Yes, I am using Cinema 4D. I tried it once with Max 3d, that I got from a friend, but it was far too professional.

I have been working with Cinema 4D basics for one year now, and know the standards of moddeling. It is great fun, but very time consuming... and as I have other obligations, it is pretty much only for the time in between.

Anyway. The current poly count is about 5000.

I plan to include the captain's ready room and the conference room as seen in NEMESIS into this mesh.

Here the floorplan of how I hope the finished mesh will look like:

5k without furniture and with the backfaces.. hmm.. it?s still a good count.

5000 is a good count for that, well done.

I have furniture from an EF2 mod so you can use them if you want.

Also be warey of overlapping faces, infact any object too close to another will cause jaggies because there is a bug in the exe regarding the rendering of bridge models - when you need some help exporting this into BC we can give you some help.

Well this one is a hard one... I really have no specs for this one, so if you can send me the EF version, I could elaborate on this one. :)

Check your PM.

And Thanks again!

Also be careful in over-relying on the Lcars-Interface.de maps of the Ent-E.  Unlike most of the maps there, these seem to be drastically out of proportions (out-of-scale chairs, overly large turbolifts, etc.).  I learned that the hard way, right Mark?

don't base this bridge on the ef2 model as I have played ef2 recently and noticed alot of things which are wrong, one is the furniture

no this isnt the stock EF2 furniture, its from a mod. As for the roof its stock but its a pretty good roof, good for reference if nothing else.
Title: share
Post by: detailgremlin2006 on April 25, 2007, 10:52:14 PM
Can I make an appeal to you Captain_Storma?

When you get this bridge done can you please share the 3ds file of it?  Many people that make mods for this game and many other space based games have been looking for a good model of the sovereign bridge for quite some time.  As you may or may not know it's not possible to extract the stock bridge from bridge commander game and there isn't any low poly or any poly sovereign bridge available for public use.  I think your the first one that might actually finish a very good version of it.  I'm still working on a mod for another game and it's going to be the final version (3.0 final) I've got the sovereign already in game she just needs a bridge.  If you will kindly share a 3ds file of this great work I will gladly give you full credit for it in the mod I would like to add it to.  I don't need textures because the game only allows use of the default game textures so I will have to texture it myself but thats no problem for me.

Please consider this appeal as many people would remember who made the bridge that everyone wants but nobody has.

Don't worry. As soon as I have semester vacation I will continue to work on it. :) Thanks for the feedback.

And yeah. As I have no idea about mods, I will finish of the mesh, add the textures and then let hopefully someone skilled turn it into a BC bridge.

I will make it aviable as a 3ds file for sure. :)

The semester is coming to an end (only one more exam left... chemistry...  :x), so I started to continue work on the bridge model...

Here some minor updates. :)

It's okay. This is a bridge that is well worth the wait, and may even give the Immersion crew a little less to worry about.

Hi there...

I have been busy with studies lately... lots of exams etc. and could not continue the work on the model.

I hope I will find some time next month when the semester is over.

Anyway. I remodeled bits of it, and added a completely new viewscreen which now looks much better IMO.

Some pictures, to bumb it up.

Thanks for the continuing interest...

SAME HERE!!!

outta curiosity, are you gonna give the bridge more extras? i mean like, along the sides of the bridge, where science 1 and 2 and engineering 1 and 2 are, there are 3 chairs. this is on both sides, so a total of 6 chairs i guess, and theyre always manned.

As I have no idea of modding, I will simply create the Bridge in 3ds, and hope that someone of you skilled people will make it into a playable version...  :D

My idea is not only to create the bridge but the whole deck one of the Sovereign-Class.

I have no idea, if it is possible to convert a whole deck into BC... but it would be cool to sit in the readyroom once for a while.

a ready room would be awesome! id feel more important than i really am lol.

have you played elite force 1 or 2? both those games now have a complete map of the enterprise-e. deck 1 has the briefing room and ready room. its really cool and could serve as a good reference if ya need it. check them out if you can, other wise ill send ya some screenies.

I got them... but they had some inaccurancies.

I have the original FC deck plans (took me ages to find them on the net), so this bridge will get as close to the original as it is possible. :)

ok, cool. its hard to find info on the Sovereign class these days. outta all the ships, its 1 of the most mysterious ones, atleast, for an Enterprise. good luck!
