well, i picked up a pencil and paper and started messing around and ended up drawing this, only a simple rose but i think its good.
started off as a sketch, imported it into photoshop via my webcam to add color over the main image and i also redrew it in photoshop making the last pic the first thing ive ever made in a 2d program lol.
-
only god knows why i stopped drawing for 7 years cause i sure as hell dont

18 views and no replys, cant be as good as i thourght
-
oh, yes you are. ;)
-
Nice stuff MM, what other pics do you have in your collection!?. Wouldn't mind seeing a few more!! :D
-
well, i have my old gcse course work but alot of that is on a3 paper so there massive compeared to them other 2 that are on a4. tho saying that the horse takes up almost all my a4 page in my sketch book lol.
ive added the main to the horse just need to touch it up, alot.
-
more on the horse. still lots of stuff to do
-
Those are cool sketches Max.
For the rose i would suggest you add more levels of brushed shades and removes the outlines so it would look more like the real one.
As for the horse it's shaping out nicely, but jusdging by the proportions it's not an ARAB or a Quarter which i'm used to see and mount lol.
-
lol. i rode an arab yesterday. was pretty good. fairly young guy to 7 years old and acting like a 4 yearold. i think he was excited about been out on a hack tho. poped over acouple of logs on the cross country course there too :D
the horse in the picture is a Thoroughbred, surprisingly in the 17th century tb's were arabs they where used to breed to native british horses that now make the Thoroughbred's you see now in the uk. very beautiful horse but some can me a bit nutty and extreamly forward going. if your a novice rider they can be enough to put you off if your unlukly enough to ride one of hte many forward going ones.
i knew you would post in here LC thankyou for your comments they mean alot from someone with your drawing ability
-
Nicey :)
-

-
anyone else got anything to say?
-
yeah... you suck :P (j/k)
looks cool man.. tho i think your overly obsessed with horses for a guy your age but meh

the sketch in this post was created using referance from someone elses artwork, i just found out who created the original so im going to give credit to toni marie hudson, too bad she cant see this thread as i would like to thank her for the inspiring work
here is the pic of her work

Horse... it's whats for dinner. :P I used to love BBQ horse-kabobs. When I was a teen in Belgium, we used to nosh upon them whilst drinking Grolsch and playing D&D.

-
as already said on msn: those are awesome, dude, really awesome :)
-
cheers bladd...... i mean blaxxer :P
i got another one but unfortuatly someone decided to hack into my computer and do one over on it, lost all my digital files including my defiant veriant which i was going to finish up :x
luckly my router stored there ip so once i trace it im going to pass the info onto the police and do one over on them
anyone here is a copy and paste job from my other thread over on bcu as i was having problams getting on here at the time. enjoy
well, after looking around for awhile i found a really good photo on a photoreferance site that i was pointed too. its the first time ive done a horses body that actully looks ok so now i got a base i can work on and improve on. hope you like it

lookin really great, was hoping you'd scan'em tho ;)
looking forward on how you shade'em.
-
i finally had enough money for a wacom, its only a graphire 4 classic but atleast now i can start learning to draw on my pc :P
first even attemp at something on a pen tablet so its probbaly a bit bad.
-
You'll perfect it out :P
-
this is really strange trying use a graphics tablet, its really annoying that i cant rotate it :P
still im praciticing with it for now trying to get used to it.
-
just adding to the drawing exercise by messing with the digital watercolor paints in corel painter 3 that came with the wacom i got. this sort of thing always happans when i get a new toy
-
just messing around with my wacom, coral painter and photoshop cs2. i hope to make a decent dragon drawing at some point so ill prolly just mess around with differant parts till i get them down in a way i like
-
Not bad at all my friend, good work!! :)
-
Very nice for the lot if you ask me, your a good sketcher and all round drawer,
Also its very true horses are extremely great to be around. :D
-
Painter 3? hmm.. that's old.
I like the dragon more than the horse, simply because you actually added a background color to it while the horses still have the canvas as the background.
Real watercollor is a pain to do so because new layers of painting won't actually cover the first one and will mix up making a mess, but as you're doing it digitaly, you can always do that, or simulate the goache effect, where the layers cover the previous and you can have a wide variety of colors.
-
huh, i still prefair pencil and paper. tho photoshops smudge tool has its uses (see first pic).
im in an artsy mood today, dunno why lol. i realllllllly need to get a scanner
-
no one wants to add anything????????????
this next one isnt my design, its a design from a person called dee dreslough. she dosnt mind people copying her work as long as they give credit so there is no harm in me posting. if anyone wants confermation of this i will gladly post the link to her site (and weiver) so you can see for yourself. it was supposed to be a smudge tutorial i was following but i had a hard time with it, so i sketched it out then used the airbrush tool in photoshop to paint over it. the original color is the green one, i changed the hue to red for the skin and background and yellow for the eye as i wanted to see it in red :P
-
your paint is improving, now try to add different layers of light and shadow to reflect the surface instead of the noise like effect. ;)
-
i got alittle bored, so i made a new background and inverted the colors on the dragon to make a white one. only way i could change the color of the horns was to invert it lol.
-
My sister would love you! (she loves horses) But you've got talent dude!
-

Selections and layers are your friends.
-
well, got a new one im working on. its the same horse as in one of my other attempts, but i compleatly redid it from scratch and added shading into it too. still getting used to my wacom and photoshop so i know its still not great, but im happy that im starting to get somewhere with it now.
-
Excellent work M@DM@X looks like a poloroid photograph, very life-like!! 8)
-
Shading looks pretty good indeed, my only glitch is that when the neck hits the body there's a visible vertical line separating both parts.
Some mixing there should fix it.
Also, for digital painting using a tablet, i strongly recommend painter (Corel Painter) over photoshop.
-
:D i got a newer version of corel painter. some of it is done in corelpainter i just find it easyer making a brush for hair in photoshop. i cant figure out that part of corel painter yet lol
-
update time :P
-
(http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/125/horse6sz6.jpg)
updates make me happy. means i have done something lol.
-
ive toned down the color slightly, it was too bright; i think it looks better now :)
-
oo pretty
-
on advice from a friend, i decided to try something else with the pic, i would really like to know what you all think
Edit; second pic is another update
-
Awsome job on those!, you really need Zbrush3, sculpt your drawings, you already have a digital pad.
-
ive been thinking about trying it, would defonatly add a new dimention to art work
-
Yes, Zbrush is cool for sculpting, but it`s probably the most wacky program i've ever used.
It`s giving me tons of headache just to detail some dino skin.
-
and a nice dino it is tho Lc
-
been doing some tutorials on dragons again, doing them so i know how to do there bodies. the first one i did on my pc in corel painter the second one i did in my sketch pad and used a digicam to get it on my pc. keep in mind the designs arnt mine because i followed tutorials for them.
-
Hey you wouldnt believe this, but i actually know toni marie hudson. !!! Would you believe it ?
She is a good friend of mine, sorry i diddnt notice this earlier. If you go to her site and click on ''meet the artist'' you'll see a picture of her with her two dogs, that field she is sat on is across from my house !!!
Man, how coincidental.
-
yeh, i kinda messed up when i copyed that work of hers. i forgot to add credit on cgtalk (but not on here go figure) and got berated by an admin on there. my own fault for been careless and forgetting to give credit where its due. ive spoke to toni marie hudson tho and explained to her it was just an honest mistake on my part and no harm was intended. she is a great artist and ive seen the pic of her on her website. do you know a horse called pippa??? toni marie gave me a link to wetcanvas.com and i found a pic on the photoreferance section from her for a horse called pippa. i think the pic is on here on page 1 not sure.
anyway here is the sketch i did from that photo.
-
No, But anyway, that horse looks really good - keep at it, and im sure you'll come up with somthing origional :)
-
I love that horse! Its getting better everytime and your dragons look good too, from tutorials its a good learning process you will be pumping your own original dragons out in no time hopefully :D
-
here is a sketch of my friend lizzie, its not totally perfect to her photo but its close.
lizzie is the horse i ride on my riding lessons, i love her to bits. too me she is the best horse ever.
ive been riding her for a year now on my riding lessons.
i am including the photo so you can make your own judgements, and yes that is me on her while the photo was taken.
-
dosn't anyone have anything to add to this? some crits would be really nice or just some general comments. its starting to feel like cgtalk in here lol
-
You've come a long way since starting, especially starting on something as difficult as a horse (I doubt I could do it that well considering how out of practice I am and how I generally don't like doing animals). Good to see you trying some different things though.
