Title: Eyes
Post by: 007bashir on January 31, 2014, 04:38:57 AM
Got a question for anybody:

Did anyone ever had a laser surgery on your eyes? I will do it in a week.

I was considering it but after researching it, and speaking to a doctor, he said it was a temporary solution, your eye sight or shall I say your current condition returns after like 15 years or so. So basically it's a temporary fix. Not guaranteed. So it scared me so I decided not to do it. It depends on the individual I guess.

I've thought about it, but I feel the risk is not worth the effort. I can see properly with my glasses anyway.

True. I have felt that way at times. But I have noticed as I get older my vision is worsening. So the question is, is it better to gradually have your vision taken from you or get the surgery and have btwn 15-20 years good vision and then it return to what it was suppose to be if you decided not to get the surgery. Tough choice. It's really up to you. The technology is getting better but still roughly new in terms of medicine tech so I wish you the best either or.  :)

I wouldn't say that the previous condition completely returns, it's not exactly "temporary," but your vision does continue to degrade naturally.  My mom got it about 10 years ago, because she was legally blind without her glasses before.   Now she needs reading glasses, but otherwise her vision is fine.

That's good then. So it naturally degrades. I guess it's worth it then.

So, a week has passed since my eye surgery. I must say i had some mixed feelings after the surgery, but the next day it was really great to see almost everything without glasses or contact lenses.
I even had the permission to drive.
I had the so called Femto-Lasik technique, since my pupils are to big for the normal laser surgery. The overall time it used, was 1.5hrs with the preps, surgery and first control after the laser.
The only little problems i have, is that my eyes, espacially the left one, is still a bit scratching. And they are still a bit red and dry sometimes
