from what i read a while back, the trailer will feature a scene were the enterprise is under construction,
And this movie will be far from canon despite what they said,
A recent article on trektoday.com had an interview with the chick who is encharge of the set design and she said they have totally de-resigned the interior of the enterprise..
Which is not necessarily a bad thing. "TOS" is suppose to take place roughly 250 years from now. You honestly think we'll have 60s-era television sets as computer monitors, and cube-shaped colorful buttons to press? Look at how we have it today, and imagine a future 250 years from now, technology-wise. What would YOU want to see at that time? Externally they don't have to change much, if any... perhaps simply adding more details like windows, or aztecing. Details they were unable to produce during the 60s but likely should've been visible.
Star Trek has never been about "the way things look". It's about the people, and the stories that they tell. TOS might not have had a whole lot in terms of technology, but they were definitely among the best on storytelling. And as long as they remain true to the essence of the characters of TOS, i'm sure it will all turn out well in the end. JJ Abrams hasnt exactly been creating "poor" content in the past. Just look at tv shows like Lost and Alias. Or his work on Mission Impossible 3. Add to that the exemplary work of the writers that did last years box office hit Transformers, and Mission Impossible 3.
It's safe to say that whatever the outcome, Trek is still in better hands than having B & B be in charge of it all.
