Pretty much all information posted in the TrekBBS threads are pure and utter BS. I highly doubt JJ Abrams would've walked away from the movie production, only 2 weeks after beginning shooting of the movie.

but considering the writers strike at the moment he might of decided to put it on hold, certain parts of the movie may need small re-writes for whatever purpose and with the strike on he is unable to do that

The writers strike started before the shooting of the movie started. I doubt that he's left the project, or otherwise cancelled it. If he had, i'm sure this would've been a bit more public than being posted in some forum somewhere.

Ok Guys,
Here are All the latest Rumoured Story lines and Related Things..

Quinto in Spock Make-up (Gotta love those sneaky photographers)
http://www.jfxonline.com/jfxonline/2007/11/12/exclusive-quinto-as-young-spock/#more-271

Harlan Ellison, the original story writer the of TOS episode the movie was to be based off really is'nt happy about him not being notfified or involved.
(This IS true as it was originally posted on his website)

In other news,
Ben Cross has been Casted as Sarek, in my opinion it will just be weird to see someone else play Sarek

Im also starting to Believe Christopher Pike will have a large role in this film seeing as Kirk, Spock etc will not have command rank but only be crewmen or even cadets.
Here is a small interview with the actor who is playing Captain Pike
http://www.trektoday.com/news/161107_04.shtml

Enjoy

Sofar, so good.
also, Ellison is *alyways* pissed...
This is An interesting article about JJ Discussing a re-write and allowing fans to have there say about the story
(not sure if its BS or not)

This is an article from someone who does know the story line of of Trek XI, they have some interesting things to say.
(Once again it could be BS)

Looks good, except I'm missing a "Rating pending" and copyright date on the green screen part.

And perhaps more importantly, why lay off all the staff of StarTrek.com, while putting that same url in the movie (at the end) as if it's still up and running?
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

They've confirmed that THAT trailer in question is a fake. The creator of it commented on it in the very same newspost.

The REAL trailer should be on the Internet around the 21st of January.

Here's the newspost I was referring to which the German site is basically a copy of:

Comment #26 clarifies that it is indeed a fake.

Has there actually been any official word their re-designing the Enterprise or has that just been fan speculation?

Plus, in order to keep things canon, the Enterprise would already be built by Kirk's time.

from what i read a while back, the trailer will feature a scene were the enterprise is under construction,
And this movie will be far from canon despite what they said,
A recent article on trektoday.com had an interview with the chick who is encharge of the set design and she said they have totally de-resigned the interior of the enterprise..

Which is not necessarily a bad thing. "TOS" is suppose to take place roughly 250 years from now. You honestly think we'll have 60s-era television sets as computer monitors, and cube-shaped colorful buttons to press? Look at how we have it today, and imagine a future 250 years from now, technology-wise. What would YOU want to see at that time? Externally they don't have to change much, if any... perhaps simply adding more details like windows, or aztecing. Details they were unable to produce during the 60s but likely should've been visible.

Star Trek has never been about "the way things look". It's about the people, and the stories that they tell. TOS might not have had a whole lot in terms of technology, but they were definitely among the best on storytelling. And as long as they remain true to the essence of the characters of TOS, i'm sure it will all turn out well in the end. JJ Abrams hasnt exactly been creating "poor" content in the past. Just look at tv shows like Lost and Alias. Or his work on Mission Impossible 3. Add to that the exemplary work of the writers that did last years box office hit Transformers, and Mission Impossible 3.

It's safe to say that whatever the outcome, Trek is still in better hands than having B & B be in charge of it all.

If they want to design new things then they should go FORWARD and stop changing what has already been DONE.

This is the message that paramount need to get into their thick heads, and I think the only way they will get that message is if they get poor box office figures, and we are the ones who decide that.

Damn I thought it was real when I saw it... why??  Cause they sure do love to reuse the same stuff over and over in the movies and shows, so it didn't even cross my mind that the music and the voice over wasn't original footage :P lol

Paramount or whoever it is now CBS............. they are just jumping on the band wagon for this movie....

Hmmmmm they went to the begining for James Bond (Caisno Royal)
hmmmm they went to the begining for Batman (Batman Begins)

hmmmm they did good...... let's copy them!

idiots.
