Hot Wheel Narada First Look
« on: September 24, 2009, 08:01:58 AM »
It's still without paint, which is great for those attempting to model this tricky ship.

I will DEFINATELY be buying one of these, as well as the JJPrise, Refit, and Miranda. Planning on doing a few JJ kitbashes when I do.

Weird, considering that my pre-order of this sucker was cancelled.  :'(

I looks like a sort of an impressionist take on the Narada - like they sculpted it to look like the Narada, but accuracy on that scale (most scales!) must be impossible. If that's what they were aiming at, mission accomplished.

It sure looks like the Narada though I hope the paint job serves to visually break the spines up a bit, there are a lot more slabs of surface toward the bow than there were in the movie.

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

It looks correct to me, though obviously the spines and such are blunted...you know...to keep kids from winning Darwin awards by throwing die-cast metal pinecones at each other.  Anyways, I will say that I am shocked to see a prototype since the ship has apparently been cancelled by Mattel.  The Enterprise has been in pre-order limbo since May, and is now scheduled for November.  Hopefully that'll be the actual release date, since a release alongside the DVD would be fitting.

The refit is actually a possible buy for me in the future, but only when I know someone who can repaint the dorsal saucer and warp engine registries.

The Reliant and Klingon Bird of Prey are honestly the best looking of the bunch right now.  I don't count the JJPrise and Narada, and I will not until they are in stores.

Don't get the refit. The saucer is rediculously slanted upwards and tilted to the side. I hope the New enterprise doesn't suffer the same flaw.

That's actually an easier fix than you'd think once you realize that the saucer and connecting neck are made of the same material.  Just get that area fairly warm and you can probably get it in the right position.

And I already technically have a refit, I was just considering getting the non-Comic Con Exclusive.  So you know, one in dock, one out.

I'm assuming the clear part in the middle will (or would have, depending if it's actually ever made or not) is going to be a light green color in the finished project with really small addition "barbs" painted on. That was there aren't tiny, metal wire sized pieces sticking out.

RE: The JJPrise...if the following picture, which shows the upcoming battledamaged version, is any indication, the JJPrise Hot Wheels ship is very accurate:

However, Playmates recently announced their plans to do a series of mini-ships, so whether or not they're taking over the line from Hot Wheels, or if they're doing their own versions, it's really hard to say.  :roll
