hmmm this post seems more worthy for a discussion thread rather than just a random post in the Useful Facts Thread...

I'm not entirely sure that is authentic

From casting notes I've read, the details hadn't quite settled that much by this point.  For example, that memo lists the character of Tasha Yar.  From what I read, the character was supposed to be Marsha Hernandez, it wasn't until Sirtis and Crosby's roles were switched (Sirtis was up for Hernandez, Crosby for Troi) that she became Tasha Yar to reconcile with Crosby's non-hispanic looks.

I first heard about this on "HijiNKS ENSUE" a few days ago, nice to see Tim Russ was already being considered for a roll, even in the 1980's.

Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me."

ive seen behind the scenes documentary stuff of TNG where Denise Crosby did say herself that she originally auditioned for the role of Troi...
i dont recall exactly where i remember seeing this, but with some digging around im sure i can find it as proof...

Oy Vey, and Brent Spiner wasn't even considered at that time LOL

Wesley Snipes would have made an excellent kickass pilot...but Engineer?  Hmmm..don't know!

Reggie Jackson, like baseball Reggie?  :funny
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

also, IIRC, it was pretty late in the process that Wesley became a boy, originally the character was a girl named Leslie.

I'm still not convinced that this is an authentic memo

I'm sure I've seen that in one of the TNG DVD box sets

one of the contenders for data was "mark Lynn Baker" (sp).  this is a sitcom actor who played straight man to   Bronson Pinchot's Ruratanian transplant  Balki.
