And they added a LOT of detail to the damaged USS Constellation.
Whenever they get to Wolf 359 in TNG, we might be able to see more identifiable ships.

Maybe they'll add the Tolstoy. :)

*shakes fist* -.-
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

They also made new models for Ships that were reused models.
The automated cargo ship in "The Ultimate Computer" was given a CG model based off an Automated grain ship in The Animated Series, the Gorn ship was given its own Unique model.
There are other examples but I can't think of any.

what I meant was that while they redid all the VFX (including the space scenes) and cleaned the film, they didn't alter the appearance of any of the actors or sets to any significant amount.  I can't see them retconning the appearance of the Borg, as mckinneyc suggested

Yeah they turned a Dial Clock into a Digital one in an Episode.

Well of all the ships missing from TNG I'd like to see a Connie or two just reassure they are still out there in the 24th Cent.

Well they were retiring the Enterprise-A at the end of the 23rd, so I doubt there are any Constitution's in service by the time of TNG. If anything I think they'll edit the footage to remove that chunk of the Connie's hull in the Wolf 359 graveyard scene...

It's possible that for Borg edit's they'd probably make their control panels more in-line with what we saw on Voyager and First Contact.

Digitally retconning the entire Borg race though, I think that the cost of doing that is a bit higher than what CBS is willing to put down. I mean, in order to do that and make it look believable they'd probably have to re-shoot new scenes with the same technology that was used to make Avatar, and that'd be expensive...

They'd be stupid not to, but I don't think that would happen until this 4 episode sampler disk is out...

still not what I would call a significant change, they only did that in one close up shot anyway, you can still see the analogue display in other shots.

Nothing was on the scale retconning the Borg would be.

I would imagine like the Miranda and other movie ships classes the refit connie is of the same era. It can be assumed that some connies were constructed a new in the refit configuration. So we can assume that there are some still out there, after all there was at least one at wolf 359 and the Stargazer was going to be a connie. They even had to dub over the dialog recorded changing it from Constituion to Constellation. The powers that be got cold feet touching the Enterprise hero model as the TOS films were still in production and decided to take the kit bash from the ready room and flesh it out as a new model.

Another update.  Apparently "Encounter at Farpoint" will be included on the blue-ray sampler along with three other episodes (I'm praying for "Yesterday's Enterprise" to be among them).  Link to the news post:

All I meant was with retconning the borg was to alter the actors skin tone to bring it more in line with later borg.

Another update on the TNG blue-ray release.  Looks like we're getting "Sins of the Father" and "The Inner Light".

Hm, the Inner Light isn't an effects heavy episode, doesn't seem like a good choice for something intended to show what they'd do for Blu-ray.

doesn't need to be effects heavy... just demonstrate the film updates (higher visible detail and such)
