TWOK Enterprise
« on: October 03, 2007, 08:43:44 AM »
I was just looking on BCFiles and while looking on Azati prime NX enterprise, LCs Ent-C with battle damage and WCs newest Year oh hell Voyager I came up with an idea...
I found outdated ST2/3/6 enterprise retextures but all of them are p81 models and ST2/3 are mirror damaged on sec hull, torp bay and nacelles and damages are also placed in wrong positions...
So I decided to make new retexture and I found that WZs refit connie will be the best for this, only need permission from WZ.

Both sides of torpedo bay no longer use one texture, also nacelles and torpedo tubes textures are now splited to sides so different damage can be applied to port and star tube/bay/nacelle

!!! I know such ships are mostly pointless in battle cuz they will fail after few shots so consider this ship for pics/fun only !!!

Now here are some pics:

I was thinking about working on the same thing. :) Good job!  Any chance of a good ST:3 enterprise- using the same model?

Personally, I would have gone with the Khaliban Connie model like in your TMP refit pack but the textures on this great. Keep up the great work.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

There is reason why I use WZ connie instead of Khaliban, firstly WZ has better textures allignment especially at secondary hull and secondly this is next ship to have fun with and to remake most of textures  :D so I rather like to stay at this one with WZs connie

why don't you try the damaging tool from the SDK?
that way you don't make another model and you can release a hardpoint or a new ship file

I would but the point is that I had to modify model to achieve this effect cuz both sides of torp bay and nacelles used one texture, now they use independant maps for each part so I think best way will be releasing whole mod with model and textures which also will be replaced with newer

actually I meant you can use, say, WZ connie, full, shiny as it came out from WZ, and add the damage you want with the SDK. even in a single side, and even with broken gaps in the hull. it will add polycount tho, but that depends on how rough the damage is.
so the mod will turn into WZ's connie + custom HP + custom ship file + some lines in the code to add that damage (which you export from the SDK)
you don't even need the model. you can put it as requeriment and call it from the ship file.

Ok I decided to make this ship textures refit which means textures from my connie pack are now applied to WZ crefit connie.
here are some pics of ST3 version, notice that some textures (small details) are not yet changed/finished (i.e. thrusters, ventral saucer damage)
any opinions ???

I think you should leave the maneuvering thruster(triangles) alone.  The originals were fine.  I agree that the hull itself should be retextured.  Good work, I look forward to what's next.  Can I do a "seconds before destruct" melting saucer retexture?  I don't think anyone has done that before.  Plus as you said it is for fun. :)

Most of the battle damage looks likes its straight from the movies, but as I recall the
diameter of the damage underneath the primary hull(saucer) was much smaller. It also tends to look like a black blob of paint rather than damage. Could this have something to do with the angle underneath the saucer?

I also think it would be great if you could create the blown up Enterprise from ST III. Kind of like the damaged USS Constellation

But there's still a thing that confuses me: How did you get the WZ Connie? I never found it n BCfiles?
