In one of the clips posted at TrekMovie.com, we see Kirk acting a lot like the womanizing Kirk from the original series. Downsized the spoiler-text below:

The clip begins with Kirk meeting Uhura at a bar. Apparently trying to hit on her, Kirk inquires as to what Uhura is studying at the academy, whereby she replies with Xenolinguistics. Uhura doesn't believe Kirk knows what it means, however he replies that it's among others the study of alien languages. In a very Kirk fashion, he comments that Uhura is "Good with her tongue". At the end of the clip, a Starfleet officer asks Uhura if Kirk is bothering her. Uhura replies that she can handle him. Kirk replies that she can "handle him anytime". The clip ends with Kirk calling the officer "cupcake", and suggesting the officer bring a few more friends so that it will be an even fight between Kirk and the officer+friends.

Not willing to spoil too much, from the little i've seen, I think Chris Pine got Kirk's "mannerisms" down solid. And judging by the comments i've read, written by both Trek fans, and non Trek fans, we may indeed be in for an enjoyable movie in the coming month.

If you think about Kirk in TOS, he's always gettin the woman and starting fights. This is just the uncontrolled version. :D

Getting the woman? Yes. Starting fights? No. If my memory serves, he never started random fights just for the hell of it, not even against klingons.

From what I read, he was already pretty boozed up when that fight starts.  You ask me, he gets what's coming to him.  Needed a good dose of humility.

One thing in common with all Trek is that the inside of ships are shiny and clean. Yet the little scene with Karl being McCoy, that shuttle is the dirtiest thing eva! :P

USS Sea Beeze 1701? The ship that almost was...seriously...seriously.........................................seriously.

Quote
As promised I got this odd little piece cleared to show you all from  J.J.?s New Star Trek. This goes way back to the early days of the new film. Back when the earth was new and the oceans were still full of hot Magma Ryan Church was brought on to start the conceptualizing the new/old Enterprise. Since the movies goal was to break new ground and start at day one the consensus was to recreate the 60?s look without coping what was done by Jeffery?s 45 years ago. All the ideas and concepts were being re-thought and re-imagined. The inspiration for this ship idea came from images and ideas of Luigi Colani?s futuristic designs that seem to have also inspired Burt Ratan. This comp was to take those sweeping lines and create a starship that has the essence of the futuristic 1960?s but with a contemporary flare. Note the name of the starship!!! the registry # is 1701, but the name is the USS Sea Breeze!!! Wholly Cow can you imagine what that would have done to all of us fans,,, There would have been a lynching for sure? Anyways this was a very short lived idea and the notion to rename the ship quickly faded back to ENTERPRISE just like it should be? I asked Ryan what this was all about and this is the best answer he could come up with, and that it was for no other reason than to be different from the original. he also said he was glad that this awful thing died quickly,,, but it?s here for you today!!!  So Enjoy what could have been the last nail in the coffin had they gone thru with this hanus insult.

Pics are in the link.

All hail the messiah!

Thats a good concept for a Xindi ship. All it would need is a retexture, the fin being scaled down a bit and be made into a BC playable ship.

http://johneaves.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/sea-breeze1.jpg?w=665&h=235

Obviously, like everyone else I hate these as Enterprise replacements, but a new texture, some adjustments to the nacelles, and it would've turned as a good Oberth refit for the NEM-era.

Alas, these ships will probably never see the light of BCs poor lighting system (lol) but a guy can dream can't he.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

I'm surprised how many negative comments I saw about Uhura's use of the word "hick".  It fits the part of the country she's in at the time, and I like Kirk's response to it.

And yeah, the Sea Breeze was an April Fools.  Kinda nifty looking though.
