Unfortunatly, direct linking cannot be done with MSN video.
However, heres a red carpet interview with the main cast, excluding Simon Pegg and Zoe Saldana, with J.J Abrams and executive producer Bryan Burk. Also included is a tiny bit of new footage about a quarter of the way through the video.

Can't wait for 2014 to start.

I love the new bridge noises.  Reminescent of the classics, but still new.

Heheheh, "Cupcake"... I want to hear some more of Jim "Keanu Reeves" McCoy. Movie is finally starting to seem like it could be a laugh or two.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

Here are five new pics, the soundtrack(including length/kinda spoiler-y), and the Imax poster(basically reverse of US).

And JJ is at it again(viral marketing). Just like with Lost and Cloverfield JJ and crew have created several sites that make you go "wtf?". They include parties at one site, elements that makeup cement aswell as pieces of a side view of the Narada on several others and an IP address that goes live this Friday.

Desktop wallpapers on USB cards.

Another new tv spot. "Going Down"

New materials from the dossier section of the official site. Attached below, a picture of a Federation starbase, as well as what I could see, possibly another ship design.

Close up of the station. According to some comments, a very "Franz Joseph"-ian design.

I don't know about anyone else, but I really like that station.  It reminds me a bit of K7, but bigger, like on steroids or something.

one thing i think is a little overboard is in some of the commercial previews, they take the time to enforce things like -
"Forget everything you have known" and "This is not your father's Star Trek"
it's like ok, we get it; this is nothing like anything we have already come to know - we can see that in the preview...  is it really necessary to emphasize the sell of "this is completely redone to follow the modern trend of remakes that are blown over the top and hollywoodized - look at all the action-packed fast-paced scenes and sexiness and CGI - just like every other Hollywood film that is part of the flock of sheep!"
i am trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, but every time i do, something happens within it that reminds me of the sheer cheesiness of it all...  and it plunges me into further disappointment with it all...
maybe it is because i am older than most of the kids who are jumping up and down with glee about this new movie, but i really can see right through all the bullshit, and the catering-to factor, and the sell is so transparent; it has been done a million times already to many many remakes in the past decade to the point where it is so easily obvious what "filmmakers" are attempting to accomplish when they "make" things already done before...

sure, i'll see it...  but it would have to be so incredibly stunning and outstanding for me to feel different...  i must admit, my skepticism is strong, tho ill try to keep an open mind whenever i do get around to seeing it...  but i have a feeling ill leave the movie feeling strongly justified in how i feel know...

I've said this before and I'll keep saying it until people understand.  These commercials and trailers are NOT made with US in mind.  Paramount is trying to appeal to those who've passed on Star Trek before because it was "lame".  I highly doubt that the trailers and previews are completely indicative of what the movie actually is, especially since it has gotten so many good reviews already from both Trekkies and non-Trekkies.

Jimmy knows that. He's just expressing his opinion and how he views it. But I understand where both of you are coming at. I know that this far beyond TOS and would seem almost cheesy in comparison but I also understand that things are different so it can attract a new and different audience.

Now lets go back on-topic before we have an opinions war otherwise who ever wins will rule as a dictator. :P

I wonder what the warp core will look like. Vertical or horizontal?
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

I have just read through Countdown and I have two things to say...shit I hope Worf lives and @#$% you April! lol

I personally think it will be horizontal.

And those Kelvin kitbashes seem logical since many TOS/TMP ships(canon and otherwise) are kitbashes of one ship or another(mostly the connie). Three of those ships have a rollbar between the two nacelles and the back half of the saucer has been squared off, don't think we've seen anything like that before really.

They can't kill Worf! He is Worf! Worf cannot die. It's too early! :P

I personally think it will be horizontal.

Maybe JJ will do a stupid and have it diagonal...

ya i understand that - i know how the game of selling a product is done, believe me...  especially when i comes to films...  altho, i dont know if what you are saying is 100% fact and not just an opinion of yours (unless it was specifically said somewhere by one of the filmmakers that was indeed their tactic?)

but if you pass over those who are trekkies and try to appeal moreso to those who arent, you run the risk of pushing away trekkies...  even if it just be the previews...
it's like an non-mainstream local band that is very much popular in an underground scene...  should they try to expand into the Top 40 mainstream genre, and try ultra hard to appeal (and perhaps "tone down" or "assimilate to") the mainstream, there is a good chance they become so obviously different and watered down that they lose the people who liked them so much before with all the drastic changes they make so as to attempt to appeal to a wider audience...  there have been a number of bands over the past 15, 20 yrs that i have seen sell-out, and they all suck now and were 10000% much better and stronger when they were unknown for years, before every high school kid loved them and all their new songs were heard 100 times a day on the radio, and it/they became all about money and not about pure talent or love for the music anymore...
i know thats a poor analogy, but it is difficult to explain the fine details of what i am trying to convey in a quick thought...

Worf?  huh?  :?

General Worf, and dozens of BoPs attack the Narada(this being after its Borg improvments). Most are of them are destroyed. Nero tells Worf to surrender, Worf tells Nero that he will(but ofcourse is planing something). So Worf and some other Klingon warriors take a shuttle(looks very much like the one that we saw in TNG) over to the Narada. Right as they get to the Narada they get out and start cutting into the hull of the ship. Some of the crew are caught by surprise and the first few Romuluns go down no problem and so the Klingons split up. Worf finds himself on the bridge of the Narada and finds that Nero is hiding somewhere. Worf tells Nero to show himself and Nero starts talking to him and they go back and forth. Behind Worf one of these Borg...things(looks kinda like the tail of the xenos from the aliens movies) thrusts thru Worfs torso(like at the end of AvP) and later when the Enterprise(which seems to have had extra impulse engines added to the back of the nacelles) arrives and in their conversation Nero tells Captain Data(Picard who is on the bridge aswell is Ambassador to Vulcan) that "there is still a flicker of life in your Klingon friend" and moments later he is beamed over to the Enterprise and thats the last we hear about Worf. You should really atleast read through Countdown at the book store...it will help.

I have read spoilers from people who have been present at the advanced screenings,
And from what they have said Engineering is massive and looks very industrial, but yet you don't get too see much of it at all.

Considering how little we saw the main engine room in TOS, that doesn't surprise me.  It's Scotty's performance in the engine room that matters, not the engine room itself.  8)

That klingon battle was stupid (Vorchas? Neghvars? Naw, let's use some lolBoPs against this borgified monstrosity ), but invading an enemy ship with three people takes the prize. Worf deserved the Bishop treatment.

ugh i regret asking about Worf now - let's keep that whole storyline to another thread please :)
this thread can be about the movie...
thx :)

see, i guess the fact theyre trying to make it "cool" like that takes away from the depth of it IMO...
when you try to make something "cool" or "mainstream" it takes away from the essence...
