Well, I don't mean lighten them up so that theres a supernova on every panel lol. More buttons and less...touch screens (LCARS doesn't quite come into it :P).

I say, hypocrisy at its best!

Oh god, a glass Enterprise bridge? That, would be the iMac bridge. :P

Buttons in the 23rd century?  I'm sorry, but I hate that.  I'm glad that they gave the new bridge touch screens.  Eventually, we're not going to have buttons, so why go backwards?

And why does everyone get all offended by the Apple/Mac feel of the ship??  I'd rather my starship be run on Mac or Linux than on Windows.

actually thats one thing about the Bridge i didnt care for, the bright-whitewash-sunglasses-needed effect...
that, and those stupid windows/panels/consoles/whatever that were just in the way lol

:?

Those two-sided "consoles" made of glass had purpose... In fact, I think every single console (at least) looked like it had a purpose, unlike previous shows where there was all this crap they never touched. (The helm on Voyager, anyone? Though that could've been improved by adding another seat, I'm using it for an example.) Because otherwise, why would what's his name have gotten up and used it rather than have a console in front of him that does everything ala TNG?

The lens flares, eh, I only noticed them after the storm of rage in this thread about it and even then I really can't see them being "In the way".

And why does everyone get all offended by the Apple/Mac feel of the ship??  I'd rather my starship be run on Mac or Linux than on Windows.

Because Apple didn't invent minimalism and the colour white. There's no Apple symbol or any easter egg hardcore macfans are raving about, and no real link to it other than "Oh it has touch screens like an ipod I'll call it the ibridge".

Clearly, Apple must have had influence on 2001 as well...

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

Chekhov was seen using one to get the warp coordinates and sensor data to hide from the Narada on their way to earth.

Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

My only complaints with the bridge were the things that had no purpose at all.  At least the glass panel things had a purpose, but the barcode scanner things have none whatsoever.

They could be the cameras, one of which Chekov used to make the shipwide address.

I found that even more stupid than having the bridge in the top of the saucer :P Maybe they thought looking at your enemy through a screen doesn't have the same effect than doing it through a window?

Clearly, Apple must have had influence on 2001 as well...

Damn Macfans, they even go back in time to ruin good movies...

I though having a window is actually quite cool. Not practical, but still awesome.

More practical than a screen that relies on power to run. ;)

True (unless its powered by Duracell but couldn't be incldued in the films due to legal reasons!).

That'd explain why the warp core was split up into several D-Cell's.
