i love the amount of lens flare on it too

That deserves a cookie for making me laugh so hard. I must be the only person who doesn't pick up on these things... Maybe I've just been exposed to Internet Disease for too long.

You're just too young. When we were growing up, the director wasn't actively trying to blind the audience, the camera didn't have Parkinson, and cuts lasted more than 1 second.

Snap-together models usually come pre-painted. Thanks for the info.
Polar Lights/Round 2 snap-together models kits never come prepainted. Though the instructions say that painting is optional, it is needed. All of their new kits like the 1:1000 Enterprise-A, will come with full ship hull plating decals, so the new JJprise "might" have them, but it's not confirmed yet. The good thing about the 1:2500 JJprise, is that it will be about the same size as the other 1:1000 TOS and NX kits. Round 2 reads the comments on Trekmovie (where the article originated) to see if there is hype for this kit. If the smaller one sells well, there might be a 28.5" one coming after. I can't wait!

:arms: 22, and grew up watching old (read: B grade and 50's junk). I seriously think it's the internet disease and every myspace corner worker with their "Artsy" photographic ability of "What's an "exposure" setting desu?" that's affected my ability to see the flares until they're pointed out. That or I'm going blind already. OH GOD, EVERYTHING MY MOTHER USED TO THREATEN ME WITH IS TRUE!

(POSSIBLY BAD TASTE JOKE APPROACHING)

When we were growing up, the director wasn't actively trying to blind the audience, the camera didn't have Michael J. Fox, and cuts lasted more than 1 second.

:arms: Gents, we live in a time where the current teenagers need everything to be speedy to keep their attention, the movie was meant to bring in new people, so naturally, you have to start doing what everyone else is to grab attention of the masses of regular movie-goers. It sucks, right? The plus? We still have Trek.

I so can't wait to see Andorians in this time.

this is very true, and thats the only thing that (IMO) sucks, what i refer to as the "sell-out" factor...  it's not just Trek, it's everything...  it is really too bad, IMO; everything (every remake) gets more and more shallow and flashy with less and less substance...

The plus? We still have Trek.
i guess...  tho i much more prefer origTrek over this nuTrek...

I so can't wait to see Andorians in this time.
lol watch - $100 says in this nuTrek, theyll be green with 3 antennae :P

It'll all be worth it for me if they're a race of females. :arms:

As for liking old trek, that ain't what's in debate, so it's fine, my point (Which I've poorly tried to convey several times) is that it's not gone, and who knows? If we happen to come across some writing prodigy they may be able to incorporate both takes on trek together to make the truly unifying one. A deep, moral story and gripping storylines, and combat scenes that make you sit on the edge of your seat.

...Hey, I can dream, can't I?

well, one thing that is consistent with Trek (to me) is that in the beginning of something new, it usually isnt all that great at first but eventually gets much better...
IMO, the first two seasons of TNG, DS9, Voy (and all 4 of Ent lol :P) were pretty lame; but as the show and everything aged it did get much better...  maybe this will be the same...

Of course it isn't. My "problem" is that the new Trek will stay here for years, at least until the next cicle of Hollywood remakes comes (let's say, around 2030) and old Trek is suddenly considered cool again.

It's been done, it's called First Contact. Well, except for the depth. And the morals. And only one good combat scene (that was too short). And the...

Wait, why the heck am I criticizing FC?

Nice pie chart blaXXer.  Whether you liked the movie or not, you have to admit, this is a good time to be a Trekkie.

How about we don't debate and say we did? :P

I'm just real disappointed that there are no official schematics of the new Enterprise available.

Egging it on doesn't help ;)

Chart made me giggle for a good few minutes. I imagine we won't get schematics for a while (if at all). This isn't the drawn out Trek Roddenberry started heading towards with TNG, and it is only the first movie. There's loads of time, relax.
