Never thought to ask before; does this mean DJ, that your Galaxy Class is exclusively for Excalibur?

It's gonna be made for both as far as I know. It's likely that DJs Galaxy Class will be what is considered the "Stock Galaxy" for Excalibur :P

yeah this will be available for both bc and excalibur.  It will be the 'stock' galaxy of excalibur.  That's why I've not made any effort to do fake bump maps for this ship, since it will have normal maps in excalibur.  if I did fake bump maps now, it would look horrid in excalibur.

also, here's a pic of the new improved phasers and the thrusters added to the back of the nacelle pylons.

Can't tell from that angle, but shouldn't the phaser strips be moved up a bit so it's more on the side of the pylons, and not underneath the pylons as it seems from this angle?

i don't think so.  I'm pretty sure it's in the right spot.  Again, it depends which model a person is looking at.  On the ft foot, they're evenly between the side and the bottom.

As usual, fantastic work DJ.

I can't even imagine how good it would look if in the future you'd decide to make my favorite class of ship, the Sovereign.

Cheers.

Well folks, here she is!  My favorite ship in all of Star Trek... The USS Venture!

I just had a tremendous itch to make it happen today, it's just such a sweet ship.  It's got a great name, cool add ons, and a good history.  I can tell you that when I'm done, this will be the ship I will use basically all the time.  I've honestly been just staring at it in 3ds max for the last 20 minutes in awe.  The phaser mounts on the nacelles just make the ship look so much cooler. :D  As you can see, I also changed all the registries to those of the Venture.

The nice thing is that I added the textures for the phaser mounts to some free space in one of the main galaxy class textures, meaning that when I make modifications to the regular galaxy textures, those changes will also happen to the venture.  So basically, I can continue to detail the hull, while only having to work on one set of textures.

In addition to the development of the Venture, I've also played around with the hull colors a bit, though I think I've got them pretty darn close.  Either way, I really like them right now.  I also made the sunken lines in the deflector a bit less strong, they should appear more drowned out by the deflector light now.  I also added piles of plating details to the secondary hull and lower saucer, though from a distance, they're not easy to see.  (As it should be)

Anyhow, i hope you guys enjoy the pix!

Its an awesome piece of work, but the only slight niggle I have with it is that the escape pods dont stand out as much as I am used to. Whether thats canon or not I dont know, im just going on what I see here.

Looking very sweet indeed DJ! Not sure about this being canon or not, but are you going to have the saucer impulse engines activated on the Venture variant? Again, I don't know if this was seen or not.

Either way I am staving off sheer madness in anticipation for their completion
