Question about the Generations Galaxy Bridge
« on: December 27, 2007, 03:23:58 PM »
I asked this on bcfiles, but didn't get a reply. It's not really a technical support question since its answered by easy observation. I was wondering if the crew of that bridge heaves, rattles and rolls when the ship takes a big hit like on the original Galaxy bridge. I don't have internet access at the house ATM (moving to a new place) and would like to know before I go through the trouble of hauling a portable HDD to the office to download it.

Edit: Crap, meant to post this in General.

Edit x2: Thx Jimmy

Its called a readme for a reason....

As for your question; you have asked about this issue before and had it answered before... it has nothing to do with individual bridges and individual bridge scripts.

Seriously not trying to be rude or confrontational or anything but I don't see how that answers my question.

"Does the crew of the Generations bridge shake when the ship is hit?"

"it has nothing to do with individual bridges and individual bridge scripts."

Is that a yes or a no? Remember, I know NOTHING about modding. Pretty sure I've pointed that out before too. I don't think I've ever asked about the Generations bridge before? It just came out, right?

lol and my 'who made the mod' question was rhetorical. :s Text sometimes doesn't convey tone correctly.

Edit: Wait, are you saying they DO shake, but I need to download another mod or something to get it to work (like KM1.0 or something)? Because I have that. Again, sorry... *knows squat about modding*

Edit: x2 Or are you saying it was in the readme and I missed it? I read the readme posted on bcfiles, but I may not have understood the technical aspects of it. Or is the readme on bcfiles different from the downloaded readme? If that's so, then I can't read it since I can't download it right now. (Tryin hard here if you can't tell.)

oh kay, well lets see if we can make it easier for you to understand.

You are asking about "crew shaking" on the GenGal... its a question you have asked about other bridges before. The answer for the other bridges was "the crew not shaking is not down a problem with the individual bridge", and that answer still stands with the GenGal bridge.

Aha!

So would I be incorrect in saying the answer is: "No the GenGal bridge crew doesn't shake?"

If so, then there's no way to get that fixed? Some friendly, helpful, generous folks in the community DID manage to help me to get the Late TNG Galaxy crew fixed, even though I was told numerous times it couldn't be done or that the problem wasn't in the individual scripts - the video with the fixed crew was even posted in bcfiles a while back.

I mean, would it be pointless in me trying to pursue getting the crew to shake?

Yes, you would be incorrect.

Can you really not remember asking this last time?

Damn, lol so then they DO shake! It was 50/50... I thought the odds were in my favor.

I remember getting frustrated about Miguel not shaking on the Galaxy bridge and even posting a video about it. I'm running through my old posts right now to see if I can find it, but I remember getting that particular problem fixed. In fact, now that I think about it, LJ ended up giving me a zip file that I could upload to bcfiles as a fix for everyone to use, but after I mentioned it, I got zero feedback on it, so I didn't bother.

If it was explained to me in some technical manner, then I may have understood/comprehended it at the time, but I know so little about modding, I'm not surprised I completely forgot about it.

Its not a matter of "yes" or "no", if it was I would have just answered wth "yes" or "no".

Q: "Does the crew of the Generations bridge shake when the ship is hit?"
A: "It depends on the scripts you have installed on your game"

The mod that causes the problem is NFX2 Beta; because Nano was still working on things (bridge fx in particular) he disabled the stock FX and added some replacements. So we got new sparks but lost the crew shaking and extinguisher jets.

There are two ways round this.. either dont install nfx2 in the first place, or install BPCore Gold Edition which includes a module to bypass the blocks that NFX2 puts in place.

I really can't make this any more clear then it is.

Now that's strange. BPCore Gold is the one that KM 1.0 came with right? This one:

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/;65091

Well, I have NanoFXv2 and before I ever even got BPCGold, I managed to get everyone shaking in the seats again (with the new bridge effects even!) The video is on Bcfiles:

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/New_Video_from_LeonHart_Studio;82007#Download

But you're saying as long as I have BPCore Gold, I'll be fine anyway? Because I have that! (That is, if its the BPCore that I linked to lol)

Poop

So I get this:

http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Bridge_Plugin_Core;85205

And it should bypass all the problems that would keep the GenGal bridge crew from shaking?

 :dance

Edit: I just re-read your post wording. This'll just enable me to bypass the problems, but it'll need more work than just installing BPCore Gold, right?

Awesome! In that case, I'm definately hauling my HDD up here and downloading it! Thanks for the help and patience trying to explain it to me! I think I may already have BPCore Gold, just ended up linking to the wrong one, but I'll get that too just in case.

Thanks again!
