Post dom-war excelsior refit
« on: February 23, 2008, 11:46:31 AM »
Hi there !
I just thought I'll share my small idea on how to revive excelsior after the dominion war. I used Sorcere model for this and I will retexture it with new sovereign styled textures and hull elements, also I will try to change phasers banks into pharers stripes, cuz banks just don't fit TNG anymore. Here's what I managed to do so far, any opinions/ suggestions ?

My only request is a blue deflector, please :P.

I will reserve judgement. I don't like the striped nacelles. One grill would look better. Other than that, huzzah.

yep that was sorcerer class uss merlin, it still will be sorcerer class but refit, with new names, yes names cuz I'm gonna make it a pack of 4 maybe 5 ships. Still got to figure out how to add modeled in phaser stripes :D also I'll have to remap it for ID map so there is much to do on this one.
A for blue deflector, it is reserved for newer variant. I'll see what can be done about those nacelles.

Wow nice. But i'm not too fond of the second pic. I think it should look more like the Lakota/Ent B. But the colour scheme is awsome.

Well I've picked sorcerer because of awesome model and TNGish style, tho those nacelles needs some work, also I'm thinking on adding one  additional impulse engine on the neck.

Very nice bones, the colour scheme is excellent!!  :)

THX I finally managed to make them smooth just like in cg sov cuz most of my retextures are very contrasted so this one should be more elegant and more calm :D

First off, turn off the flux chillers at the side. That's a pure TMP trait. Secondly, I'd suggest to use a dark gray shade for thosde dark pannels and brake'em up with black ones and a darker gray. Oh, and don't do the Sov style panneling at the dorsal and ventral back side of the saucer ;)

Yeah I think an extra impulse would work

Why not swap the nacelles for the ones the Tiburon uses?

I've thought about doing that for the Chabot Refit on a few occasions, but never got around to it.

I really like the color scheme you have going here.  I'd say, don't change a thing on what you've got now.

As for the phasers, unless you decide to swap out the original saucer for the kitbash version, which doesn't have phasers, you're gonna be doing alot of patching before you're able to make the phasers.  Or so I would imagine.

Thank's for advices mate, saucer will be as it is now (bottom, top is unfinished tho I won't make those dark pannels on it) only some minor details like thrusters, escape pods and windows will be added. What are flux chillers ??? could you point it out on pics :D as for those dark pannels I would like them as close to sovereign in paint as possible. Thanks anyway :D

Well I think I could do that, still looking after some good phasers on other ships cuz modelling a phaser strip in ms3d $ucks very much.
