Apollo Class WIP
« on: June 02, 2008, 01:56:45 PM »
I had no intention of postin this until the mesh was complete but, i need input on the placement of the impulse engines, as their is an obvious placement but their is a sexy one too..  what do you guys think? Textures are going to follow the same theme as the gagarin.

Right angles just don't look right on ships! Graceful curves :D! Awesome work so far. It's a sort of proto-proto-Nebula

I really like this ship.  This ship will fit great with the Wolf 359 ships as well as the "Lost Era."

Thanks for all your comments, Its nice to think this ship can fill a nieche, but after i built the gagrin it felt right to build this as a complete ship next, but im still curious about ur opinions on the location of the impulse engines?

 :D thanks

indeed - your model is ten thousand times better than that design...
i am curious, tho - what is that large section at the top of the model meant for?  sensors?

indeed it seems to be a precursor to the nebula class sensor variant. this design fits the role nicely, keep up the good work

No seriously, I like your design, but you should stay with the real deflector. This one's ugly.  :?

Thanks for the link Yopyop.. but im gonna stay true with my vision but i do appreciate your perspective, i have only modified the ship slightly modeling wise, the texturing will really sell it, and put it in a place of its own... as in it will look unique, but still no suggestions as to the impulse engines  :?

Yeah, im happy with that, im going to add secondary impulse engines to the saucer, primaries will be on the pylons. forward torps are my current issue, as the neck is too short.

hmm could add two small tubes under the deflector dish or 1 on either side of it... ala excelsior.

What about having the torp in the sensor pod. Or underneath the saucer section above the sensor dome?

Oh by the way this looks awesome, the apollo class has always been a favorate of mine, its one of them classes that has had a few conjectural designs (the phase 2 enterprise study model was thought to be an apollo class at one point) but this has always stood out as being the better one, and this model is a huge improvement for the one we already have at filefront. Heres a cookie for u mate  :)

Looking awesome!

Great work so far.

Seems like a definite precursor to the Nebula.
